Abstract

Kilo Watt Hour Meter or kWh meter is a tool for calculating the amount of electrical energy used by electricity consumers, both residential and industrial customers. The electrical energy used is then converted into the electricity price that must be paid each month. Currently, most kWh meters in circulation are smart kWh, which use electricity tokens as transaction calculations. Customers must fill in 20 token numbers via the kWh meter keypad to fill in electricity tokens. Filling in this 20-digit token is not easy, this is because usually, this type of kWh is placed in a higher place to avoid the reach of children. This placement sometimes causes problems with replenishing the token, and users must start over from the beginning. This research aims to create a tool to fill in electricity token numbers that can be controlled using an Android application, making it easier for users to fill in electricity tokens remotely via smartphone. Apart from that, this system has feedback in the form of notifications that display numbers that failed to be filled in on the kWh meter. Test results show that this system can function well from 10 meters without obstructions and 9 meters without obstructions.

Abstract

Torque ripple analysis and calculation methods in an axial-type Magnetic Gear (MG) design with four rectangular NdFeB magnetic layers have been reviewed and discussed. Smooth and steadily transmitted torque is an essential characteristic of a magnetic gear. Reducing possible mechanical vibration, position inaccuracy, and acoustic noise is necessary. Therefore, this study aims to design a new engineering method appropriate for calculating the torque ripple of the MG transmission by testing its mechanical and electrical properties. Two simultaneous torque tests compare the MG brakes from zero to full load. In addition, the transmission torque of the axial MG is measured and calculated using technical methods. The results showed that differences in dynamic torque occurred in the MG at various air gap distances.

Abstract

Renewable energy development is increasingly important to anticipate the limited use of fossil energy and its impact on the environment. The Savonius turbine is a vertical axis turbine that can utilize flow from all directions with simple construction, so it has the potential to be developed as a wind turbine and hydrokinetic to generate electricity. This paper aims to conduct an experimental studied the same Savonius combined blade rotor as a wind turbine used in a wind tunnel and a hydrokinetic turbine in an irrigation channel. The experimental results show that the Savonius turbine can function well as a wind and hydrokinetic turbine. The Savonius combined blade turbine improves the performance of conventional Savonius blade turbines, including its use as a hydrokinetic turbine, which is affected by flow velocity. The performance of the Savonius turbine is indicated by the power coefficient Cp and torque coefficient (Ct) values based on the fluid flow velocity. At the same wind speed (4 m/s), the combined blades can increase the performance Cp by up to 11% compared to conventional blades. The use of the same combined blades tested as a hydrokinetic turbine resulted in an increase in Cp and a decrease in Ct with an increase in tip speed ratio (TSR).

Abstract

Usaha pencucian sepeda motor merupakan peluang usaha yang prospektif di tengah tingginya jumlah pengguna sepeda motor di Indonesia. Namun, usaha ini masih banyak mengalami permasalahan, seperti belum tersedia instalasi listrik yang aman dan memadai. Melalui kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat, dilakukan perencanaan dan pemasangan instalasi listrik yang sesuai standar keselamatan di tempat pencucian sepeda motor Artos di Desa Penfui Timur, Kabupaten Kupang. Metode yang digunakan dalam pemasangan instalasi listrik meliputi analisis aktifitas pencucian sepeda motor, perencanaan, pemasangan, dan pengujian untuk memastikan instalasi listrik berfungsi secara aman dan memadai. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa pemasangan instalasi listrik yang tepat dapat meningkatkan operasional dan keselamatan kerja di tempat pencucian sepeda motor. Kegiatan ini juga memberikan kontribusi positif dalam meningkatkan kesadaran akan pentingnya instalasi listrik yang aman dan memadai sesuai standar.

Abstract

In the digitalization era, protecting electrical equipment in low voltage systems of 380/220 V is crucial to ensure operational reliability and safety. This study explores the effectiveness of a protection and monitoring system based on the Internet of Things (IoT), integrated with the Telegram application, for detecting disturbances such as overvoltage and overcurrent. The methodology employed is a quantitative experimental design, involving system testing with smart sensors and relays. The test results demonstrate that the system successfully provides real-time notifications to users within an average time of 2 seconds after a disturbance is detected. With this system, users can promptly be informed about voltage and current conditions that may potentially damage equipment, thereby allowing for swift actions to prevent damage. In addition to enhancing responsiveness, this system also facilitates remote management of electrical systems. The findings of this research emphasize the importance of implementing modern technology in electrical system protection, which can reduce the risk of damage and improve energy management efficiency.

Abstract

Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan dan kompetensi sumber daya manusia (SDM) melalui pemberian keterampilan penggulungan trafo bagi mahasiswa Teknik Elektro. Metode yang digunakan adalah melalui ceramah dan tanya jawab berupa pemberian teori-teori trafo, pengenalan alat ukur, dan cara menghitung belitan dan menggulung trafo. Metode berikutnya adalah melalui demonstrasi dan praktek langsung berupa pengenalan nama alat pengukuran diameter kawat email, besi keren, cara mempergunakan alat penggulungan trafo, dan teknik menyolder. Model pembelajaran dilakukan berupa 30% teori dan 70% praktek. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan pemberian keterampilan ini sangat efektif dan efisien dalam meningkatkan skill dan keterampilan mahasiswa. Pemberian keterampilan ini diberikan selama 2 minggu dan hasilnya menunjukkan 90% dapat memahami teori dan 70% dapat memahami praktek.
