Abstract

Cancer is a chronic disease that reduces the quality of life of the sufferer. High stressors and low coping due to disease prognosis, therapy management, and minimal social support, have an impact on poor psychological conditions. Therefore, we need complementary therapies such as yoga that is easy, cheap, and can be done independently. Yoga practice increases oxygen supply and relaxes muscles and joints which can increase hormonal work which is beneficial for the body physically and psychologically for cancer patients. Objective: This study aims to explain the effectiveness of yoga on increasing QoL (Quality of Life) in cancer patients. Research data were identified from 5 journal databases including PubMed, JSTOR (Journal Storage), Wiley Online Library, Sage Journal, and Taylor & Francis Online using the PIOS (Participant, Intervention, Outcomes and Study Design) method and MeSH term on advanced search engines. Articles that become research data are articles published in 2006-2020 in the English version, open access, and in full text in the original research article form. A total of 3050 articles were found, a screening process was carried out using the Prisma Protocol to eliminate articles that did not meet the criteria. This literature review study found 16 articles that prove that the use of yoga interventions can improve the quality of life of cancer patients. Cancer patients are advised to do self-care in the form of Yoga to improve their quality of life. Advanced research will need to compare the feasibility between yoga and different intervention.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by hyperglycemia. In fact, diabetes is a disease that can occur due to genetic factors. The longer you have diabetes, the worse your quality of life will be. Interventions that can be used to improve the quality of life of patients by conducting genetic counseling. However, this intervention is still rarely implemented. Therefore, this study aims to assess the effect of genetic counseling on the quality of life in people with diabetes mellitus. This study used a Quasi-Experimental Without Control Group design with a pretest and posttest design. The sample used was 38 people, data collection was done by filling out a quality of life questionnaire (SF-36). A paired-Sample T-Test was used to test the hypothesis. Genetic counseling has an influence on the participants' quality of life (p < 0.05). This treatment needs to be carried out in daily nursing practice because there are benefits to the quality of life of diabetic patients.

Abstract

Tuberculosis is a bacterial infection caused by the bacillus Myobacterium tuberculosis. is an aerobic bacterium in the form of a rod bacillus, but this bacterium survives against acid, the manifestations that appear are usually the patient complains of coughing up phlegm. Non-pharmacological techniques that can be used to remove phlegm are to perform chest physiotherapy and teach effective coughing, this technique is still rarely used in the field. Nurses are more likely to collaborate in giving antibiotics. This case study was conducted to present the implementation of evidence based nursing providing effective chest physiotherapy and coughing exercise as an effort to expel phlegm in tuberculosis patients. Physical examination was carried out by the persistent method in tuberculosis patients. Indonesian Nursing Diagnosis Standards (IDHS), Indonesian Nursing Outcomes Standards (SLKI), Indonesian Nursing Intervention Standards (SIKI). The nursing diagnosis of ineffective airway clearance with the diagnosis number 0001 was given nursing interventions in the form of chest physiotherapy and effective coughing. After being given nursing intervention for 3 days, the ineffective airway clearance was resolved with a patent airway which was characterized by normal breathing frequency, regular breathing rhythm, no additional breath sounds, the patient was able to expel sputum. Effective chest and cough physiotherapy is considered effective in overcoming the problem of airway clearance.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Genetic disorders are diseases caused by changes (mutations) in certain genes. This condition can be passed from parents to children, or occur randomly due to exposure to certain factors. Genetic diseases are caused by a number of factors, including defects in the mother's or father's genes, excessive abortion, a lack of blood cells, and a low white blood cell count. For premature or adolescent life development, early detection of genetic diseases is essential. Although it is difficult to predict genetic disorders in advance, these predictions are very important because the progress of a person's life depends on it. This scoping review focused on articles published in English from 1984 to 2022. The review included interventions related to calculating the inheritance patterns of genetic diseases and outcomes associated with these patterns. Encompassing randomized controlled trials, quasi-experimental studies, and cross-sectional research, the inclusion criteria excluded literature reviews, systematic reviews, and other scoping reviews. The review was conducted across four databases included PubMed, Scopus, ProQuest, and ScienceDirect, with critical appraisal conducted using the Joanna Briggs Institute's Critical Appraisal Checklist. Upon meeting the inclusion criteria, seven cross-sectional studies and quasi-experiments were identified. The review of intervention methods for calculating genetic diseases revealed outcomes associated with the inheritance patterns of genetic diseases. The intervention method for calculating genetic diseases has demonstrated its effectiveness in determining the inheritance patterns passed from parents to their children. This information is crucial for devising appropriate treatment plans for individuals affected by genetic diseases. Keywords: Genetic Counseling, Genetic Risk, Inheritance Pattern, Risk Calculation

Abstract

This study addresses the limited research on the effectiveness of Liqo Tarbawi as a method of character development at the higher education level in pesantren-based institutions, despite growing concerns about moral decline among university students and its implications for future Muslim leadership. The research aims to examine the influence of Liqo Tarbawi activities on the moral character of mahasantri at Ma’had Aly Baitul Hikmah Sukoharjo during the 2024/2025 academic year. Utilizing a quantitative correlational design, data were collected from 87 respondents through total sampling. Instruments included a Likert-scale questionnaire, non-participant observation, and semi-structured interviews. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression via SPSS 26.0. The results reveal a positive and statistically significant relationship between participation in Liqo Tarbawi and moral character development, with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.386 and a contribution rate of 14.9%. These findings support Lickona’s (1992) theory of character education and the Islamic tarbiyah framework, which emphasize the role of intensive moral formation through modeling and small-group engagement. The study concludes that Liqo Tarbawi is an effective instrument for cultivating moral character but requires complementary support from familial and institutional cultural environments. Practical implications include the need to strengthen tarbiyah-based curricula, enhance the competencies of murabbi (mentors), and develop community-oriented models of character education. Future research is encouraged to employ longitudinal or mixed-method approaches to capture the deeper processes of internalization.

Abstract

Typhoid is an acute febrile illness caused by a bacterial infection of salmonella typhi and its endotoxin stimulates the synthesis and release of pyrogens by leukocytes in inflamed tissue resulting in hyperthermia. A non-pharmacological technique that can be used to reduce the increase in body temperature in hyperthermic patients is by doing a water tepid sponge bath, this technique is still rarely found in the field. Nurses tend to give antipyretics more often when children experience hyperthermia. This case study aims to present the results of implementing the evidence-based nursing water tepid sponge bath as an effort to reduce fever in typoid patients. Physical examination was performed using the head to toe method in typoid patients. The North American Nursing Diagnosis Association (NANDA) is used to determine nursing diagnoses. Meanwhile, nursing intervention refers to the Nursing Intervention Classification (NIC) and the Nursing Outcomes Classification (NOC). A hyperthermic nursing diagnosis with a diagnosis number 00007 is given a nursing intervention in the form of a water tepid sponge bath. After being given nursing intervention for 7 days, hyperthermia was resolved by the criteria that the patient's body temperature returned to normal 36.2 °C. Water tepid sponge bath is effective in reducing body temperature in typoid patients
