Abstract

Objectives: The present study aimed to evaluate the influence of various apical instrumentation sizes and tapers on the degree of debridement of the apical third of curved root canals. Methods: We used 60 extracted human mandibular first molars with mesial root curvatures of 20° to 30°. In all teeth, access cavity preparation was performed, followed by coronal flaring with Gates Glidden drills #1–4 (Dentsply Maillefer). Specimen teeth were subsequently randomly divided into five groups (n = 12). Each group was enlarged to a particular apical size and taper as follows: no apical preparation done (group I, Control group); 25/.04 and 25/.06 (Group II); 30/.04 and 30/.06 (group III); 35/.04 (group IV); 40/.04 (group V). Specimens were rinsed with 17% EDTA and 3% NaOCl solutions. We used a scanning electron microscope to evaluate specimens’ degree of debridement. Retrieved data were analyzed using Kruskal–Wallis and Mann–Whitney U-tests (p < 0.05). Results: Acceptable debridement was observed in groups III, IV, and V. Additionally, debridement was significantly better in Groups IV and V than in group II. Conclusion: Apical preparation with <30/.04 size results in an unacceptable degree of debridement of the apical third.

Abstract

Background: Vitis vinifera is known for its antimicrobial activity; however, the hepatoprotective activity of aqueous extracts of aerial parts has also been reported, but the nephroprotective and hepatoprotective activity of ethanolic extracts have not yet been evaluated. Objective: To evaluate Vitis vinifera's hepatoprotective and nephroprotective activities against CCl4-induced toxicity in rats. Methods: Two doses of ethanolic extract of Vitis vinifera (100 and 200 mg/kg/day) were evaluated and compared with silymarin 100 mg/kg. Biochemical blood parameters like aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), Gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase (GGT), bilirubin, urea, uric acid, total protein and creatinine, and histopathologic changes of liver and kidney were studied and evaluated. Results: Vitis vinifera reduced the elevated blood levels of ALT, AST, ALP, urea, and creatinine, with the ethanol extract to 200 mg/kg/day being more effective. The histopathologic evaluation suggested that Vitis vinifera decreased hepatic and renal necrosis induced by CCl4. The more significant dose resulted in reductions in AST, ALT, GGT, ALP, and bilirubin of 54, 27, 56, 36, and 17%, respectively. Ethanolic extract 200 mg/kg/day also shows a reduction in elevated levels of Creatinine, Urea, Uric Acid, and Total Protein by 61%, 58%, 29%, and 9%, respectively. Conclusion: Hepatoprotective and nephroprotective activities of ethanol extract of Vitis vinifera were demonstrated, with ethanol extract to 200 mg/kg/day being the most effective. This presents scientific evidence for using medicinal plants such as Vitis vinifera in managing liver and kidney disorders.

Abstract

There is dependably an extraordinary requirement for new types of algorithms in the population-based improvement algorithm. These algorithms improve the execution of the current algorithm. Parameter change approach assumes an essential job in improving the execution of the PSO algorithm. A new algorithm called particle acceleration-based particle swarm optimization (PA-PSO) has been proposed. In this algorithm a particle acceleration parameter is tuned. This algorithm significantly improves the performance of the PSO–time varying acceleration coefficients (PSO-TVAC) algorithm. This algorithm reduces the time varying weight of inertia and the nonlinear acceleration coefficients in the equation of the PSO-TVAC velocity vector in each iteration. Particle movements in the n-dimensional search space are governed by the kinetics of the second motion equation. Experiments demonstrate that the proposed PA-PSO algorithm outperforms the existing PSO-TVAC algorithm on five well-known reference test functions. The algorithm possesses adequate control over the local as well as global optimums.

Abstract

The permanent mandibular first molar is frequently involved in conventional root canal treatment due to its function and position in the oral cavity. Additional root canals mandate accurate diagnosis and conservative management to prevent any procedural errors. The first independent middle mesial canal incidence was verified in mandibular molars in 1974, with a global incidence of 10.8–27.0%. Reporting of the middle distal canal in the endodontic literature is scarce, with an incidence of 0.2–3%. The present case report describes the endodontic management of an unusual permanent mandibular first molar with three canals in the mesial and distal roots, diagnosed with irreversible pulpitis and apical periodontitis. A dental operating microscope and multiple angulated radiographs were used to identify the unusual morphology, and this was confirmed with cone-beam computed tomography imaging. The access cavity was modified to a trapezoidal shape, and the pulp chamber was carefully explored following root dentinal maps to expose additional canals by ultrasonic troughing. Incorporating a dental operating microscope and cone-beam computed tomography imaging in routine endodontic cases facilitates a better understanding and visualization of the complex root canal anatomy, making even the management of endodontically challenging cases more predictable.

Abstract

This study focuses on identifying factors responsible for joining Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) business by the networkers and analysis of satisfaction level of networkers with respect to the mode of association with MLM business. A quantitative methodology with a survey technique was used on 305 selected networkers who operate their MLM business from Kanpur city. Factors responsible for encouraging people to join the MLM business as a networker are explored by the factor analytical approach. An independent T-test was employed to test the proposed hypothesis. This study found that earn income for meeting expenses, source of residual income, low investment and low risk, more leisure time, personality development, better lifestyle, enhance social interaction, and helping others are the key factors that motivate the networkers to join MLM business. Moreover, the networkers involved in MLM business through any mode of the association are equally satisfied with this business.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of a group guidance approach using modeling techniques in enhancing career planning among high school students. Given the rapidly evolving job market and rising youth unemployment, structured career planning interventions for high schoolers are urgently needed to prevent future career misalignment and underemployment. The research employed a mixed-method design with an explanatory sequential approach, involving 36 eleventh-grade science students at SMAN 1 Purwakarta. Participants were selected via purposive sampling, targeting eleventh-grade science students with intermediate career-planning readiness to ensure intervention relevance. Quantitative data were collected through a career planning questionnaire, while qualitative data were obtained from interviews and observations. A 20-item Likert-scale career planning questionnaire measured four dimensions: decision-making, understanding, information-seeking, and self-efficacy (α=0.87), administered pre- and post-intervention.  The results indicate a significant improvement in career planning scores, with the average increasing from 100.36 (pretest) to 114.39 (posttest) (p = 0.000). The decision-making aspect showed the highest increase (+4.83), followed by career understanding (+4.62) and career information-seeking (+4.58). The findings demonstrate that modeling techniques using inspirational videos and interactions with real-life models such as professionals and alumni successfully visualized concrete steps in career planning, enhanced self-efficacy, and reduced student confusion. Qualitative findings confirm that group dynamics facilitated experience-sharing and enriched students' perspectives on the professional world. This study concludes that the approach is effective in helping students develop structured and comprehensive career planning. Practical implications emphasize the importance of integrating modeling-based career guidance programs into school counseling curricula, supported by external collaborations and the use of digital media.
