Abstract

This study aims to develop a digital journalism learning model based on video features, with the intention of improving the creativity and language proficiency of students on the English Studies programme at the University of Muhammadiyah Tangerang. The study employs a Research and Development (RD) approach, adapting the Borg and Gall model through the stages of needs analysis, design, product development, expert validation, revision and trials across two learning cycles. Data were collected through observation, interviews, expert validation and student response questionnaires. The results showed that the developed model was categorised as very feasible. Expert validation achieved an average score of 87.5%, classifying it as 'very feasible', while student responses reached 88.2%, classifying it as 'very good'. The model's effectiveness was evident in the improvement in student learning outcomes, rising from an average score of 65 in Cycle I to 87 in Cycle II. The N-Gain calculation of 0.63 showed an increase into the 'moderate to high' category, indicating that the model was effective in improving student abilities. Qualitatively, there was an improvement in scriptwriting skills, speaking fluency, visual creativity and the ability to produce video features. In theory, this model contributes to the development of digital, media-based English language learning. In practice, it can provide lecturers with an innovative way to create more interesting, contextualised and appropriate learning materials for the digital era
