Abstract

AbstractThe result of students’ learning biology in grade X-U 5 MAN 2 Padangsidimpuan haven’t gratified yet. From the experience of the researcher, students always feel difficult in comprehending of ecosystem material. This is caused by using method that is not related. This research has aim to improve students’ biology mastery through STAD Strategy. It is specified in ecosystem material. Formulation of the problem of this research is “to what extend STAD strategy can improve students’ biology mastery at grade X-U 5 MAN 2 Padangsidimpuan”. The kind of this research is action class room research (CAR) with two cycle. In each cycle consist of four step; planning, action, observation, and reflection. Informant of this research is students in X-U 5 grade with total of students are twenty five students. Data in this research is collecting through observation, interview, and test. Technique of collecting data use descriptive analysis. The result of this research shows that STAD strategy in ecosystem material can improve students’ biology mastery in X-U 5 grade of MAN 2 Padngsidimpuan. The mean of the students’ biology result can get 83,69 and percentage of students can get standardized in 88% from KKM.Key Word: STAD Strategy, result of learning.

Abstract

Factors Intelligence is one of the most important aspects of human personality, because in any intelligence activity plays a role, particularly strong influence on the level of learning outcomes to be achieved by the students. A person’s ability to solve the problem is not only influenced by intelligence but also influenced by non-intelligence factors such as interest, motivitation and so on. The purpose of this study was to determine, whether there is a relationship between the level of intelligence (IQ) with cognitive achievement of biology students. This research was done in class X MAN 2 Padangsidimpuan. Data collected by using documentation method to collect data IQ and grades biology student learning outcomes. Meanwhile, to test the hypothesis using product moment correlation technique and then proceed with the t-test to see its significance. Based on data analysis, this study concludes that there is a significant relationship between the level of intelligence (IQ) with cognitive achievement of biology students.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of scientific-based numeracy literacy teaching materials on students' motivation and higher order thinking abilities. This research is a quantitative research using a quasi-experiment method with a nonequivalent control group design. Sampling used purposive sampling technique. The instruments used were motivational questionnaire sheets and higher order thinking ability tests. The paired sample t-test was used to analyze the data. The findings indicate a significant difference in the average posttest scores between the experimental group and the control group, with a significance value of 0.000<0.005 and a mean difference of 18.06 (66.00 - 47.94) between the two groups. Additionally, the confidence interval for the difference ranged from -36.959 to -30.354. That there is a significant (real) difference between the average motivation score and higher order thinking abilities of students in the experimental class and the control class using of scientific-based numeracy literacy teaching materials. So with these results it can be concluded that the scientific-based numeracy literacy teaching materials has an effect on students' motivation and higher order thinking abilities.
