Abstract

This study aimed to improve a) the activities of teachers and students,b) interest in learning mathematics students, c) the results of mathematics learning students of class II D SDN 01 Kota The research method was classroom action research. This research was conducted in class II D SDN 01, Padangsidimpuan City consisting of 25 students. The results of this study were an increase in teacher activity in the first cycle obtained an average score of 22.5, increased in the second cycle with an average score of 24.5, and increased in the third cycle to 28.5. Increased activity of students in the first cycle obtained an average score of 25.5, and increased in the second cycle to an average score of 27, and then increased again in the third cycle to 31.5. In students' interest in learning mathematics in the first cycle the percentage was 77.6%, increasing in the second cycle by 86%, increasing again in the third cycle to 89.2%. The improvement of cognitive cognitive learning outcomes of students in the first cycle was average value (66.4) with classical learning completeness (44%), increased in the second cycle the average score (01.4) and classical learning completeness (64%), increased in cycle III (80.6) and classical learning completeness (88%). Then it could be concluded that the application of quick on the draw learning strategies could increase the interest and results of learning mathematics of students in class II D SDN 01 Kota Padangsidimpuan.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of scientific-based numeracy literacy teaching materials on students' motivation and higher order thinking abilities. This research is a quantitative research using a quasi-experiment method with a nonequivalent control group design. Sampling used purposive sampling technique. The instruments used were motivational questionnaire sheets and higher order thinking ability tests. The paired sample t-test was used to analyze the data. The findings indicate a significant difference in the average posttest scores between the experimental group and the control group, with a significance value of 0.000<0.005 and a mean difference of 18.06 (66.00 - 47.94) between the two groups. Additionally, the confidence interval for the difference ranged from -36.959 to -30.354. That there is a significant (real) difference between the average motivation score and higher order thinking abilities of students in the experimental class and the control class using of scientific-based numeracy literacy teaching materials. So with these results it can be concluded that the scientific-based numeracy literacy teaching materials has an effect on students' motivation and higher order thinking abilities.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a mathematics learning device oriented toward the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach based on Ethnomathematics to improve students’ mathematical problem-solving skills at MTs Negeri 3 Tapanuli Selatan. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) design using the 4-D model, which consists of four stages: defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. The research subjects were 36 seventh-grade students in the second semester of the 2022/2023 academic year. The instruments used included expert validation sheets, teacher and student practicality questionnaires, classroom observation sheets, and mathematical problem-solving tests. The results revealed that the developed learning device achieved an average expert validation score of 4.25 in the very valid category in terms of content, language, and presentation. The practicality test showed that the teacher’s response reached 89% and the students’ response reached 91%, categorized as very practical, indicating that the device was easy to use and engaging for students. The effectiveness test showed an average N-Gain score of 0.52 (moderate category) with 86.11% of students achieving mastery learning, signifying that the learning device was effective in enhancing students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities. The integration of the realistic mathematics approach with local cultural elements (ethnomathematics) successfully created meaningful and contextual learning experiences while fostering students’ appreciation for their cultural heritage. Therefore, the developed learning device is feasible to be implemented as an innovative mathematics learning medium based on cultural contexts in junior high schools and madrasah.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh kurangnya penggunaan perangkat pembelajaran seperti LKPD di sekolah tersebut, di SMP Negeri 1 Sosa lebih sering menggunakan buku pegangan guru dan buku paket, serta rendahnya pemahaman konsep matematika siswa khususnya pada pokok bahasan pada materi himpunan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk validitas, praktikalitas dan efektifitas lembar kerja peserta didik berbasis pendekatan matematika realistik untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa pada materi himpunan di kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Sosa. Penelitian ini merupakan researh and development (R&D). Model Pengembangan yang digunakan dipenelitian ini adalah ADDIE yang melalui lima tahap diantaranya, analysis, design development, implementation, and evaluation. Validasi LKPD terdiri dari validasi ahli teknologi pendidikan atau desain, ahli materi dan ahli bahasa. Di uji coba di kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Sosa, subjek uji coba dilakukan di SMP Negeri 1 Sosa yang berjumlah 25 siswa. Ahli desain atau teknologi pendidikan terdiri dari 2 validator, ahli materi 3 orang dan ahli bahasa 2 orang. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu LKPD yang dikembangkan memenuhi kriteria kelayakan dari hasil persetase keseluruhan validasi terbesar 79,91% berada dikategori valid. Kepraktisan dari seluruh aspek ditunjukkan dengan nilai 78,18% berada dikategori praktis. Kemudian nilai evektifits dari seluruh nilai hasil belajar siswa ditunjukkan dengan nilai 61,27% nilai ini didapat dari nilai rata-rata keseluruhan hasil beajar siswa selalu dikali seratus persen dikategorikan efektif. Dengan demikian dapat dinyatakan bahwa LKPD sudah layak, menarik dan mampu menigkatkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa.
