Abstract

This article examines the ethical foundations and strategic directions that characterize the ongoing digital turn in ḥadīth studies. As the second principal source of Islamic teachings, ḥadīth is undergoing a profound transformation in how it is accessed, transmitted, and interpreted through digital technologies—particularly mobile applications, online repositories, and social media. While these developments have expanded access and public engagement, they have also raised pressing concerns about authenticity, epistemological disruption, and the marginalization of traditional scholarly authority. Using a narrative literature review approach, the study draws on academic works and digital platforms published between 2014 and 2024 to analyze how Islamic scholars and institutions are responding to these shifts. The findings reveal that digital tools—such as Lidwa Pusaka, Maktabah Syamilah, Jawāmiʿ al-Kalim, and the Digital Islamic Library—have broadened access to canonical texts and enhanced educational outreach. However, the viral circulation of unverified narrations, the influence of algorithm-driven visibility, and the rise of unqualified digital preachers have contributed to the fragmentation and trivialization of prophetic traditions. This article argues that sustaining the integrity of ḥadīth studies in the digital age requires a balanced integration of Islamic ethical principles (akhlāq), critical digital literacy, and strategic scholarly engagement. By grounding innovation in ethical responsibility and reasserting scholarly authority, digital platforms can become effective instruments for preserving the authenticity, relevance, and transformative potential of ḥadīth in contemporary Muslim life.

Abstract

This article describes the condition of Parmalim believers in Aceh Singkil who are marginalized and receive discriminatory treatment. This discriminatory treatment has left Parmalim believers in limbo when it comes to practicing their faith. The number of these believers in the area is decreasing day by day as more and more are converting to state-recognized religions. The research method used is the qualitative research method. The informants in this study consisted of key informants such as the village head, the secretariat of the Parmalim sect, the weekly ritual leader, and the Persantian board, as well as supporting informants, namely Parmalim believers who could provide additional information to enrich the data such as farmers, traders and people who are active in social activities in Parmalim. The results show that social activities and interactions between Parmalim believers and community members of other religions continue to run well. However, the phenomenon of discriminatory treatment against Parmalim believers is still ongoing. Proposals to repair places of worship to the Aceh Singkil Regional Government have never been fulfilled. In the field of education, there are no religious lessons or worship practices to strengthen the children of Parmalim followers. The children of Parmalim believers do not dare to reveal their beliefs, because the religious teachers at school only teach Islamic and Christian religious education.

Abstract

Karl Marx was a philosopher and social observer, whose intelligence and brilliant thinking earned him a position as a political leader among the proletarian class of his time. For Marx, the essence of humanity lies in labor, and religion is a product and expression of the interests of the oppressed lower classes. Living in Europe during the industrial age, Marx's thoughts differed significantly from those of other philosophers of his time. This text examines Marx's thoughts on Materialism, religious beliefs, and Marxist Economics. Research findings indicate that Historical Materialism proposed by Marx is a useful term for providing the basic assumptions of his theory. The emphasis in his work "Das Kapital" is on the material needs and the struggle to enhance socialist revolution so that the proletariat can enjoy the majority of what is produced by industrialism. Marx believed that the ownership of the means of production in society should be evenly distributed according to human needs, not to the greed of a few. Religion, Marx argued, is an opiate for the masses, manipulating them with promises of eternal futures, thus alienating them from reality. In the capitalist economic system, Marx contended that fair wages for labor should be determined equally, just as the value of each commodity is determined by the amount of labor, meaning that employers should pay workers according to their labor
