Abstract

This article explores curriculum mapping, needs analysis, and Arabic learning curriculum design in accordance with the direction of IAIN Kediri's institutional development towards UIN Sheikh Wasil. Using a qualitative approach, the primary data is in the form of curriculum structure documents and learning tools, sources and teaching staff, and learning activities. The data were collected using documentation, interviews, and observation. The results show that the Arabic learning curriculum map at IAIN Kediri has shifted. Arabic learning needs can be aligned with the scientific core of each study program: either as an institutional subject encompassing all language skills and elements, or tailored to program‑specific disciplines (religious/language‑based or general). In religious programs, the curriculum emphasizes reading religious texts and complex grammatical structures to support comprehension of specialist subjects, whereas general programs employ religious texts with basic grammar for reading purposes, omitting speaking skills. This dual‑path model necessitates institutional coordination to develop a consensus‑based core curriculum and tailored modules. Future research should employ mixed‑methods designs to assess learning outcomes and instructional efficacy across religious versus general tracks, and longitudinally investigate the impact of skill‑element proportions on graduates’ academic and professional competencies.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of Islamic Religious and Character Education (IRCE) integrated with Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) principles in SMP Swasta Sumbermas Sarana PT Tanjung Sawit Abadi, Lamandau, Central Kalimantan. The research addresses the critical need for bridging Islamic environmental theology with practical environmental education in palm oil plantation communities. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 15 participants, focus group discussions with 60 students, classroom observations, and document analysis over six months. The study explores IRCE-ESD integration through three mechanisms: conceptual alignment, pedagogical innovation, and community engagement. Results demonstrate significant enhancement of students' environmental awareness with large effect sizes (Cohen's d = 2.67-3.42), achieving 78% improvement in environmental knowledge and 92% successful integration of ESD objectives within Islamic frameworks. Key success factors include teacher professional development (89% confidence improvement), community engagement (transforming 25% skepticism to 82% support), and curriculum adaptation incorporating khalifah fil ardh concepts. Implementation challenges included resource limitations and teacher preparedness gaps, addressed through collaborative material development and intensive training. Behavioral outcomes showed dramatic increases in environmental participation from 23% to 89%, sustained over six months. Students developed integrated Islamic-environmental identity, articulating connections between religious obligations and environmental responsibility. This research contributes empirical evidence for religiously informed environmental education effectiveness and provides a replicable framework for integrating sustainability within religious education contexts, supporting broader IRCE-ESD implementation in Muslim-majority communities.

Abstract

Fuqaha (Islamic jurists) have extensively deliberated upon the notions of kafā'ah and marriage guardianship. Many subsequent scholars have adopted and adapted the opinions of their predecessors concerning these two concepts. This article examines Al-Bangkalany's perspectives on kafā'ah and marriage guardianship as presented in his book As-Silāḥ fī Bayāni An-Nikāḥ. Within this work, Al-Bangkalany's viewpoint on kafā'ah and marriage guardianship is considered distinct. The contents of this article are the outcome of a comprehensive literature review, involving the analysis of the concepts of kafā'ah and marriage guardianship within the book As-Silāḥ fī Bayāni An-Nikāḥ. According to Al-Bangkalany, the notion of kafā'ah, as portrayed in fiqh literature, does not serve as the primary criterion for selecting a bride. Instead, the pivotal principle revolves around the groom's ability to adequately provide for the family's needs. Furthermore, Al-Bangkalany argues that individuals with disabilities, such as blindness, deafness, or muteness, can assume the role of marriage guardians after receiving suitable assistance. The intellectual capacity of the guardian, on the other hand, does not determine their eligibility for the role of marriage guardian.[Para fuqaha telah mendiskusikan konsep kafā'ah dan wali nikah.
