Abstract

Kepmenkes No.129/Menkes/SK/II/2008 concerning Minimum Hospital Service Standards (SPM) states that as much as 20% of food leftovers are not eaten by patients. Patient nutrition becomes inadequate and inefficient due to wasted costs. This study aims to analyze food waste from inpatients at the hospital. Using a cross-sectional design, measurements were made of 113 inpatients at Ahmad Yani Metro Hospital, taken proportionally from classes I, II, and III with the consecutive method. As the dependent variable is leftover food and the independent variable is food appearance (portion and serving), food taste (seasoning and food temperature), and food from outside the hospital. Data were collected by interview technique using a closed list of questions and assessment using the Comstock Form. The analysis will be carried out to the bivariate level using a t-test. The results of this study indicate that 79.6% of inpatients at the Ahmad Yani Hospital in Metro City left less than 20% of food left. Meanwhile, the average leftover food reached 18.5% (SD=14.7%). There was a relationship between food presentation (p-value=0.018), food temperature (p-value=0.048), and food from outside the hospital (p-value= 0.044) with leftover food. Meanwhile, the portion of food (p-value=0.178) and seasoning (p-value=0.115) had no significant relationship with food waste. Therefore, it is recommended to hospitals as nutrition service providers improve the vegetable menu in the menu cycle.

Abstract

The incidence of Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) in pregnant women can increase the mother's risk of anemia, low body weight, bleeding, infectious diseases, and low birth weight. One of the efforts to reduce the incidence of CED pregnant women is the provision of additional food (PMT). Steamed Bolu can be an alternative to PMT for pregnant women. This study aims to determine the acceptability of beetroot cake as PMT for pregnant women and the effect of giving beetroot steamed cake on pregnant women's Hb levels. This type of research is an experiment with a completely randomized design (CRD). The number of experimental units was 4 treatments and each treatment was repeated with 3 replications. The results of the study were analyzed by ANOVA. The results of the preference test showed that Formula 2 (addition of 150gr of beets) turned out to be preferable in terms of taste (p-value=0.452), and aroma (p-value=0.713). Meanwhile, F1 (addition of 125gr of beets) is preferred in terms of color (p-value=0.922), texture (p-value=0.201), and aroma (p-value=0.713). Formula 3 (addition of 175gr of beetroot) turned out to contain higher energy, protein, fat, carbohydrates, Fe, and water content than other formulas. The results of the trial on pregnant women showed that there was no significant difference between Hb levels before and after being given a steamed sponge. This study concludes that formula 1 (F1) is preferred. Then formula 3 (F3) contains the highest nutrient content. There was no difference in the Hb levels of pregnant women before and after being given steamed beet cake.

Abstract

Makanan pendamping air susu ibu (MP-ASI) adalah asupan transisi dari asupan yang awalnya hanya susu menuju ke makanan semi padat. Masa peralihan dari ASI eksklusif menuju makanan keluarga juga dikenal sebagai masa penyapihan (weaning period). Cakupan wasting pada balita di Indonesia pada tahun 2022 sebesar 7,7% dan cakupan underweight balita sebesar 17,1%, sedangkan untuk cakupan stunting pada balita di Indonesia sebesar 21,6% (SSGI, 2022). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Praktik pemberian MP-ASI pada baduta 6-24 bulan Wasting dan Stunting di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Kemalo Abung Kab. Lampung Utara Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif. Penelitian ini dilakukan di wilayah kerja puskesmas Kemalo Abung bulan April 2023. Sampel pada penelitian menggunakan total populasi yaitu 36 ibu yang memiliki bayi usia 6-24 bulan Wasting dan Stunting di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Kemalo Abung Kab. Lampung Utara. Analisis data yang dilakukan adalah analisis univariat untuk mendeskripsikan karakteristik setiap variabel penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ibu memiliki tingkat pendidikan SLTA/sederajat 47,2%, ibu tidak bekerja 86,1% dan respoden berpendapatan rendah sebanyak 80,6%. Ibu yang memiliki pengetahuan cukup sebesar 55,6%. Dalam praktik pemberian MP-ASI masih banyak yang tidak sesuai dengan anjuran praktik pemberian MP-ASI diantaranya pemberian MP-ASI dini (63,9%), keragaman pangan MP-ASI (69,4%), tekstur MP-ASI (55,6%), frekuensi pemberian MP-ASI (58,3%), dan porsi pemberian MP-ASI (77,2%). Praktik pada pemberian MP-ASI di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Kemalo Abung Kab. Lampung Utara diharapkan dapat lebih baik lagi dengan pendampingan tenaga kesehatan yang melibatkan kader posyandu dengan meningkatkan kemampuan dan keterampilan ibu baduta dalam menyiapkan MP-ASI berupa edukasi, konseling serta praktik demonstrasi MP-ASI Pangan Lokal.

Abstract

Weight and height measurements are crucial for monitoring toddler growth and enabling early detection of developmental disorders. Cadres at posyandu (integrated health service posts) play an essential role in this monitoring; however, many lack adequate skills. This study employed a pre-experimental design with pre-test and post-test assessments conducted in the Kedondong Health Center area of Pesawaran Regency. The study involved 47 randomly selected active posyandu cadres, focusing on their skills in measuring toddler height. The treatment variable was the support provided by health workers to these cadres. Skill measurements were taken twice: before (pre-test) and after (post-test) assistance. A checklist outlining the steps for measuring children's height was utilized as the assessment tool. Data analysis included the Shapiro-Wilk test for normality and the Wilcoxon test to evaluate differences in skills pre- and post-mentoring. Results demonstrated a significant improvement in average skill scores, with the infant meter increasing from 6.44 to 8.92 and the stadiometer from 6.06 to 9.11. Statistically significant differences were found before and after mentoring for both instruments (p-value=0.012 for the infant meter; p-value=0.000 for the stadiometer). The study recommends that health workers effectively mentor cadres using these measurement tools, aligning with existing standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Abstract

Background: Dental caries is a common oral health problem in school-aged children, particularly in the lower permanent first molars, which are susceptible to decay. Daily protein intake is thought to play a crucial role in dental health because protein contributes to the formation of hard dental tissue and saliva acts as a natural defense against caries. Purpose: To analyze the relationship between daily protein consumption and nutritional status and the incidence of caries in the lower permanent first molars in elementary school students. Method: A cross-sectional study design was used, involving 150 fourth- and fifth-grade students selected using total sampling. Nutritional status was determined based on Body Mass Index for Age (BMI/A). Caries examinations were performed clinically by dental health professionals. Data were analyzed bivariately using the Chi-Square test. Results: 67.6% of children with insufficient daily protein intake experienced caries, compared with 36.8% in the adequate intake group (p = 0.001; OR = 3.57). Meanwhile, 62.5% of children with abnormal nutritional status experienced caries compared to 50% of children with normal nutrition, but this relationship was not statistically significant (p = 0.24; OR = 1.67). Conclusion: There is a significant association between daily protein consumption and the incidence of caries in the lower first permanent molars.   Keywords: Dental Caries; Nutritional Status; Permanent Molars; Protein Intake; School Children.   Pendahuluan: Karies gigi merupakan masalah kesehatan mulut yang umum pada anak usia sekolah, khususnya pada gigi molar pertama bawah permanen yang rentan mengalami kerusakan. Asupan protein harian diduga berperan penting dalam kesehatan gigi karena protein berkontribusi pada pembentukan jaringan keras gigi dan fungsi saliva sebagai pertahanan alami terhadap karies. Tujuan: Untuk menganalisis hubungan antara konsumsi protein harian dan status gizi dengan kejadian karies gigi molar pertama bawah permanen pada siswa sekolah dasar. Metode: Desain penelitian cross-sectional dengan sampel 150 siswa kelas 4 dan 5 yang dipilih secara total sampling. Status gizi ditentukan berdasarkan Indeks Massa Tubuh per umur (IMT/U). Pemeriksaan karies dilakukan secara klinis oleh tenaga kesehatan gigi. Data dianalisis secara bivariat menggunakan uji Chi-Square. Hasil: Sebanyak 67.6% anak dengan asupan protein harian kurang mengalami karies, dibandingkan dengan 36.8% pada kelompok asupan cukup (p = 0.001; OR = 3.57). Sementara itu, 62.5% anak dengan status gizi tidak normal mengalami karies dibandingkan 50% anak dengan gizi normal, namun hubungan ini tidak signifikan secara statistik (p = 0.24; OR = 1.67). Simpulan: Ada hubungan yang signifikan antara konsumsi protein harian dengan kejadian karies gigi molar pertama bawah permanen.   Kata Kunci: Anak Sekolah; Asupan Protein; Gigi Molar Permanen; Karies gigi;  Status gizi.

Abstract

The direct causes of stunting under five are inadequate food consumption and infectious diseases. The two direct causal factors are closely related to the quality of parenting. Efforts to handle stunting toddlers must be carried out as early as possible, not only since the mother is pregnant but must be carried out since the mother is still a prospective bride. In this context, it is necessary to find a model for the development of training for prospective brides that is in accordance with the needs in preventing stunting under five and seeing its effectiveness. This study will use a combination of descriptive observational design and quasi-experimental design. The research population is prospective brides in Kemiling District, and the sample is determined by accident, namely prospective brides who have registered at KUA Kemiling District until July 2021. Data collection for the development of pre-wedding classes is carried out by means of FGD and interviews, while to assess the effect of class pre-marriage used a quasi-experimental design with pre and post-test approaches. The analysis was carried out descriptively (frequency distribution) to determine the pre-marital class and bivariate analysis (dependent and independent test) to determine the effect of pre-marital class on the knowledge of the prospective bride and groom in preventing stunting under five. The results showed that the standard competencies needed by prospective brides to prevent stunting under five were exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding, balanced nutrition, monitoring of toddler growth, infectious diseases in children, pregnancy, and reproductive health. In the case group that was given treatment in the form of leaflets and premarital classes, there was an increase in knowledge scores between 78.9% to 125.6%, while in the control group which was only given leaflets the increase in knowledge scores only rose by 25.9% to 91.6 %. The results of the dependent test showed that there was a significant difference in knowledge scores between before and after treatment. Meanwhile, the results of the independent test showed that there was a significant difference in knowledge scores on exclusive breastfeeding (p=0.000), complementary feeding (p=0.019), child growth monitoring (p=0.002), pregnancy (p=0.001), and reproductive health (p=0.001). = 0.020) between the two groups.

Abstract

Background: Fruit and vegetable have advantages as a source of antioxidants, fiber, vitamins and minerals which play an important role in growth and disease prevention. Low vegetable and fruit intake in children is associated with a risk of health problems in adulthood. Purpose: To determine the relationship of knowledge, availability, and preferences with the consumption of vegetables and fruit in elementary school children. Methods: The research location is SDN 01 Hajimena, Natar District, South Lampung. There were 66 students who participated in this study. Participants were grade 5 and 6 students who were taken by systematic random sampling of 199 students. The design of this study was cross-sectional, when data collection was conducted in May 2023. Data analysis used the Chi-Squared test. Result: The results showed that the consumption of vegetables and fruit for school children was low. The average consumption of vegetables is 159 grams/day while fruit consumption is 102 grams/day. Conclusion: Knowledge, availability, preferences of vegetables and fruit correlated with vegetable and fruit consumption (p<0.05).

Abstract

Desa Cabang Empat Kecamatan Abung Selatan Kabupaten Lampung Utara yang sejak dua tahun lalu menjadi desa binaan Poltekkes Tanjungkarang saat ini masih menghadapi berbagai masalah kesehatan, terutama kesehatan ibu dan anak. Berbagai masalah masih dihadapi posyandu, diantaranya adalah tingkat keterampilan kader yang rendah dalam penyelenggaraan kegiatan posyandu. Tujuan pengabdian masyarakat di desa Cabang Empat adalah untuk meningkatkan koordinasi dan keterpaduan untuk membentuk posyandu terintegrasi, meningkatkan keterampilan kader posyandu, dan meningkatkan pemahaman remaja dan lansia tentang kegiatan posyandu. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini adalah Participatory Action Research (PAR), yang melibatkan partisipasi aktif mitra dalam setiap tahap kegiatan, mulai dari identifikasi masalah hingga evaluasi hasil, melalui kegiatan pertemuan lintas sektor tingkat desa, workshop kader posyandu terintegrasi, dan sosialisasi dan edukasi terhadap remaja dan lansia. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat diselenggarakan pada bulan Juli 2024 bermitra dengan perangkat desa Cabang Empat dan Puskesmas Kemalo Abung. Hasil pengabdian masyarakat adalah pertemuan lintas sector tingkat desa yang menghasilkan kesepakatan untuk membentuk Tim Terpadu Posyandu Integrasi Layanan Prima (ILP), kemudian workshop kader posyandu yang menghasilkan informasi bahwa terjadi peningkatan keterampilan sebelum dan sesudah workshop, kemudian ada perbedaan yang bermakna antara keterampilan kader sebelum dan sesudah diberikan workshop (p = 0.017). Dari hasil pengabdian masyarakat ini maka dapat disampaikan rekomendasi, diantaranya adalah bidan desa atau petugas puskesmas perlu memberikan keterampilan kader yang berkaitan dengan penguasaan program dan teknis pelayanan fungsional.

Abstract

ABSTRACT   Iron deficiency anemia remains a major nutritional problem among adolescent girls, caused by low dietary iron intake and monthly menstrual blood loss. To prevent anemia, the Indonesian government has implemented a weekly iron supplementation program (Tablet Tambah Darah, TTD) for school-aged girls since 2014. However, adherence to TTD remains low, limiting program effectiveness. Adherence is influenced by students’ attitudes, support from parents or teachers, and perceived behavioral control. This study aimed to examine the relationship between attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control with TTD adherence among adolescent girls. A cross-sectional study was conducted at SMP Kartika II-2 Bandar Lampung, including the total population of seventh- and eighth-grade female students (n = 73). The dependent variable was TTD adherence, measured using the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale-8 (MMAS-8), while independent variables included attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test. Results showed that 65.8% of students were non-adherent to TTD. Significant associations were found between attitude (p = 0.044; OR = 1.8), subjective norms (p = 0.010; OR = 2.3), and perceived behavioral control (p = 0.000; OR = 3.6) with adherence. It is recommended that schools, through teachers and school health staff, implement a structured weekly TTD schedule and enhance supervision to improve adherence among students ABSTRAK Anemia defisiensi besi masih menjadi masalah gizi pada remaja putri, disebabkan rendahnya asupan zat besi dari makanan sehari-hari dan kehilangan darah bulanan akibat menstruasi. Untuk mencegah anemia, pemerintah Indonesia telah menjalankan program suplementasi zat besi melalui Tablet Tambah Darah (TTD) mingguan bagi siswi sejak 2014. Namun, kepatuhan minum TTD masih rendah sehingga efektivitas program belum optimal. Kepatuhan dipengaruhi oleh sikap, dukungan orang tua atau guru, dan kontrol perilaku yang dimiliki remaja. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui hubungan antara sikap, norma subjektif, dan kontrol perilaku dengan kepatuhan minum TTD pada remaja putri. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan cross-sectional di SMP Kartika II-2 Bandar Lampung dengan total populasi siswi kelas VII dan VIII sebanyak 73 orang. Variabel dependen adalah kepatuhan minum TTD, diukur menggunakan Morisky Medication Adherence Scale-8 (MMAS-8), sedangkan variabel independen adalah sikap, norma subjektif, dan kontrol perilaku. Analisis data menggunakan uji chi-square. Hasil menunjukkan 65,8% siswi tidak patuh minum TTD. Disarankan agar sekolah, melalui guru dan petugas UKS, menyusun jadwal pemberian TTD mingguan dan meningkatkan pengawasan untuk meningkatkan kepatuhan siswi.

Abstract

Salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan kesehatan dan gizi anak adalah dengan memberikan makanan yang terbaik bagi Baduta. Jika bayi dan anak usia 6-24 bulan tidak memperoleh cukup gizi dari MP-ASI, maka akan mengakibatkan gangguan pertumbuhan dan kurang gizi. Desa Sidosari adalah salah satu desa binaan Poltekkes Tanjung Karang. Berdasarkan hasil pengkajian gizi Balita yang dilakukan sebelumnya ternyata masih dijumpai beberapa masalah gizi khususnya pada kelompok umur Baduta. Penyebab utamanya adalah masih terbatasnya pengetahuan ibu tentang gizi Baduta dan keterampilan ibu dalam menyiapkan makanan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan gizi dengan pangan lokal yang tersedia. Kader Posyandu yang selama ini sudah berperan aktif dirasakan masih lemah dalam memberikan edukasi ASI dan MP-ASI. Padahal kader Posyandu sangat potensial perannya sebagai agen perubahan. Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat Pelatihan Pembuatan MP-ASI WHO Berbasis Pangan Lokal Bagi Kader Posyandu dan Ibu Baduta telah dilaksanakan pada tanggal 27 dan 28 Nopember 2017. Pelatihan hari pertama dilaksanakan di Posyandu Melati dan hari kedua di Balai Dusun Simbaringin dengan jumlah peserta pelatihan sepuluh orang. Hasil evaluasi akhir terjadinya peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta sebesar 68,9%. Untuk membentuk perilaku gizi yang baik pada keluarga diperlukan kegiatan pendampingan keberlanjutan.
