Abstract

Untuk mengurangi kerusakan fisik pada container dan muatannya, penataan muatan selama proses pemuatan di pelabuhan dan penggunaan tata lashing sesuai standar sangat penting. Khususnya pada kapal peti kemas, lashing yang benar-benar kuat dan aman diperlukan untuk menahan gerakan peti kemas yang dapat terjadi dalam enam jurusan berbeda (rolling, pitching, yawing, heaving, swaying, dan surging) akibat keadaan laut yang tidak stabil selama pelayaran. Keselamatan kapal dan muatannya sangat bergantung pada pelaksanaan pengikatan yang tepat. Pada penelitian ini peneliti merumuskan masalah penelitian meliputi apa saja kendala yang dihadapi pada saat melakukan optimalisasi dari penggunaan alat lashing container di MV. Selili Baru dan bagaimana cara melakukan optimalisasi penggunaan alat lashing container yang aman untuk mencegah kerusakan container di MV. Selili Baru. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data primer yang didapat melalui catatan hasil wawancara dengan Chief officer dan Boatswain, lalu data sekunder diperoleh dari data dokumentasi, arsip-arsip resmi, serta referensi buku. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan gabungan riset lapangan, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Teknik Analisis data kualitatif menggunakan metode reduksi data, penyajian data, serta penarikan kesimpulan, selain itu juga digunakan metode Fishbone diagram. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dan bertempat di MV. Selili Baru sebagai tempat peneliti melaksanakan praktik laut selama 12 bulan. Pada penelitian ini dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa dalam rangka meningkatkan keamanan di kapal MV. Selili Baru, peralatan lashing container yang tidak terawat, ketersediaan alat yang terbatas, perubahan cuaca, kurangnya pemahaman teknik penegikatan, serta kebutuhan optimalisasi penggunaan alat lashing memerlukan pendekatan komprehensif. Rekomendasi termasuk jadwal perawatan rutin, pemisahan alat lashing rusak, briefing kepada crew deck, peningkatan pengawasan selama bongkar muat, pemeriksaan pengikatan pasca-muat, dan pelatihan bagi stevedore. Optimalisasi juga mencakup penggunaan metode pelashing yang tepat, dinas jaga optimal, dan peningkatan pengetahuan stevedore untuk memastikan keamanan di MV Selili Baru. Abstract

The maritime transportation system plays a crucial role in international trade, with ships serving as the main means of transporting goods and passengers. One of the vital components in ship operations is the main engine, which requires a cooling system to maintain temperature stability. The jacket cooling fresh water system is the preferred choice because it can reduce the risks of corrosion and scale formation, which often occur in sea water-based cooling systems. The MV. Lumoso Karunia VIII's main engine fresh water cooling system overheated, reaching 90ÂșC and damaging the cylinder cover, which consequently disrupted operations. This study investigates the causes, effects, and preventative measures for this temperature spike in the engine's jacket cooling water system. A qualitative descriptive approach, using interviews and direct observation, was employed, with data analyzed using the SHEL model. Interviews were conducted with the chief engineer, second engineer, and fourth engineer. The factors causing overheating in temperature of jacket cooling fresh water in main engine include inadequate maintenance of the heat exchanger, blockage in the inlet that obstructs the flow of fresh water to the main engine, contamination in the cooling water, and dirt accumulation. The impact of the increased temperature in the jacket cooling fresh water of the main engine is engine overheating and financial losses. Efforts to prevent the overheating jacket cooling fresh water temperature in the main engine include regular maintenance and consistent inspections according to the Planned Maintenance System (PMS), cleaning of the heat exchanger and dirty expansion tank, as well as improving communication among the crew in managing the maintenance of the cooling system.

Abstract

On May 15, 2024, MV. HL DANGJIN experienced deballasting issues during coal loading at Puerto Drummond Port, Colombia, due to blockage in eductor pump no.2. This condition disrupted cargo operations and posed potential cargo loss. This study aims to analyze the causes of eductor pump clogging and propose solutions. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Fishbone diagram analysis revealed mud sediment and cargo residue buildup due to insufficient maintenance, particularly on eductor components. Corrective actions included cleaning the ballast line and eductor pump, repairing the suction gauge, and re-sounding ballast water volume. To prevent recurrence, routine maintenance and inspection of ballast components and tank conditions are recommended to ensure operational reliability and avoid delays or losses.
