Abstract

Public sailing is a sub-national marine transportation system that uses a means of motor sailing boat (KLM), motor sailboat (PLM), and plays a role linking the major ports, secondary and tertiary as well as regional and local feeder port. Shipping business management kinship with people using a simple organizational system and not formal, operating a fleet of cruise people did not depend on port infrastructure and can reach remote ports that are difficult to reach by the national shipping. Achievement of productivity about 18% to 20% of total domestic freight (excluding liquid bulk cargo/bulk/special). Approaches and methods used to uncover the extent of the performance of operational feasibility and technical aspects and the role of peoples national shipping is a prototype monitoring field study KLMP 360 GRT on operational performance in the harbor and at the time of sailing. The existence of sea transport shipping people support the development of the central role of regional and local economic activity, and appears to be too influenced by the economic recession. Technical conditions (stability, systems and construction) is generally considered good and have a high level of seaworthiness to sail and meet the standards of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and ISO 6954 on construction vibration criteria.Pelayaran umum adalah bagian sebuah sistem transportasi laut nasional yang menggunakan sarana Kapal Layar Motor (KLM), Perahu Layar Motor (PLM), dan memainkan peran yang menghubungkan pelabuhan utama, sekunder dan tersier serta pengumpan pelabuhan regional dan lokal . Pengiriman bisnis manajemen kekerabatan dengan orang yang menggunakan sistem organisasi sederhana dan tidak formal, operasi armada pelayaran orang tidak tergantung pada infrastruktur pelabuhan dan dapat mencapai pelabuhan terpencil yang sulit dijangkau oleh pelayaran nasional. Pencapaian produktivitas sekitar 18% sampai 20% dari total angkutan domestik (tidak termasuk kargo curah cair/bulk/khusus). Pendekatan dan metode yang digunakan untuk mengungkap tingkat kinerja operasional dan aspek kelayakan teknis dan peran pelayaran nasional rakyat adalah prototipe pemantauan studi lapangan KLMP 360 GRT mengenai kinerja operasional di pelabuhan dan pada saat berlayar. Keberadaan orang pengiriman transportasi laut mendukung pengembangan peran sentral kegiatan ekonomi regional dan lokal, dan tampaknya terlalu dipengaruhi oleh resesi ekonomi. Kondisi Teknis (stabilitas, sistem dan konstruksi) umumnya dianggap baik dan memiliki tingkat kelayakan yang tinggi untuk berlayar dan memenuhi standar Organisasi Maritim Internasional (IMO) dan ISO 6954 pada kriteria getaran konstruksi.

Abstract

Character building is very essential for cadets. As future leaders and officers on commercial ships, they are expected to have strong personalities, be disciplined, be responsible, have high integrity, and be able to work together in a team. Based on this issue, this research aims to analyze the effect of nurturing programs, boarding schools, and social media on the character-building of Politeknik Ilmu Pelayaran (PIP) Semarang cadets. This research used a quantitative method with respondents PIP Semarang cadets from the Nautical Studies, Marine Engineering, and Port and Shipping Management Study Program with a sample of 200 cadets. Sampling was conducted using a questionnaire via Google Form with a Likert scale of 1 to 4. Data obtained from the questionnaire were analyzed using the SPSS 21st version program. The results of this research show that the nurturing program has a very significant influence on the character-building of cadets. Thus, if the nurturing program can be implemented well and correctly according to established norms and regulations, the character of the cadets will be built well and meet the expectations of PIP Semarang. In addition, the boarding school system has a significant influence on the character-building of cadets. A well-built Boarding School system will assist in shaping the characters of PIP Semarang cadets. Lastly, the use of social media does not significantly influence cadets' character-building since there is a regulation related to the limitation of the use of communication devices and the internet.

Abstract

Safety Procedure is a formal written safety procedure and contains procedures, identification and obligations to carry it out while working. Not optimal due to lack of understanding of Safety Procedures that pose a risk of work accidents. This study aims to determine the causes and impacts of the non-optimal implementation of Safety Procedures and efforts so that the Safety Procedure can run optimally so as to prevent work accidents in the engine room. The research method used in this study is a qualitative method with a descriptive pattern. Research data sources are obtained from primary and secondary data. Data collection techniques through observation, literature study, interviews and documentation during the time researchers carried out marine practices on the MT ship. Serang Jaya. The data analysis techniques used are by collecting data, reducing data, presenting data and drawing conclusions or verifying data which is also supported by fishbone analysis. Testing the validity of data using the tringulation method. The results stated that the factors of not optimal Safety Procedure due to lack of crew understanding of Safety Procedure, and crew concern for safety as well as lack of supervision and coordination between crew and management are the reasons why Safety Procedure cannot run optimally. The impact of not optimal Safety Procedure is the high risk of work accidents, hampering ship operations, harming the ship or the parties concerned. Efforts that can be made to optimize this are by carrying out Safety meeting activities, Toolbox Meeting, Drill, installing Safety Signs. And always provide counseling related to Safety Procedure in the engine room.

Abstract

Auxiliary engines are a category of internal combustion engines in which air is compressed to a temperature sufficient to burn fuel sprayed into the combustion chamber. A faulty cooling system can cause Auxiliary engine No. 1 MV. Federal Kibune is not working optimally. The purpose of this study is to determine the causes and impacts caused and efforts made to overcome engine failure. This research uses qualitative descriptive research method with SHEL (Software, Hardware, Environment and Liveware) method research design. Data collection techniques through interviews and direct observation. The results of this study stated that the factors causing the failure of the cooling system were the non-implementation of appropriate maintenance of the cooling freshwater pump (high-temperature water) components, the availability of spare parts and incomplete instruction manual manuals, the wear of impeller and shaft threads, weakening construction, loss of impeller and shaft traction, uncirculated temperature, lack of fresh water treatment, lack of monitoring, and improper operation according to procedures. The impact is damage to the cooling fresh water pump, limited handling, overheating, damage to the impeller and shaft cooling fresh water pump, obstructed loading and unloading, increased temperature, changes in freshwater quality, limited problem detection, and improper operation according to procedures. Efforts are made to carry out the maintenance system (PMS) plan, conduct safety meetings, check parameters, replace impellers and shafts, gradually warm up and cool, check fresh water coolant, provide instructions to the engine crew, and provide training on engine crew operations.

Abstract

The maritime transportation system plays a crucial role in international trade, with ships serving as the main means of transporting goods and passengers. One of the vital components in ship operations is the main engine, which requires a cooling system to maintain temperature stability. The jacket cooling fresh water system is the preferred choice because it can reduce the risks of corrosion and scale formation, which often occur in sea water-based cooling systems. The MV. Lumoso Karunia VIII's main engine fresh water cooling system overheated, reaching 90ºC and damaging the cylinder cover, which consequently disrupted operations. This study investigates the causes, effects, and preventative measures for this temperature spike in the engine's jacket cooling water system. A qualitative descriptive approach, using interviews and direct observation, was employed, with data analyzed using the SHEL model. Interviews were conducted with the chief engineer, second engineer, and fourth engineer. The factors causing overheating in temperature of jacket cooling fresh water in main engine include inadequate maintenance of the heat exchanger, blockage in the inlet that obstructs the flow of fresh water to the main engine, contamination in the cooling water, and dirt accumulation. The impact of the increased temperature in the jacket cooling fresh water of the main engine is engine overheating and financial losses. Efforts to prevent the overheating jacket cooling fresh water temperature in the main engine include regular maintenance and consistent inspections according to the Planned Maintenance System (PMS), cleaning of the heat exchanger and dirty expansion tank, as well as improving communication among the crew in managing the maintenance of the cooling system.

Abstract

The density of shipping activities today, every ship must have machinery that is always in good condition. Therefore, the implementation of maintenance on every machinery on the ship is very important. However, according to reality, many machinists or engineers do not pay attention to the importance of maintenance on machinery. The machinery maintenance system or Plan Maintenance System (PMS) is a routine maintenance schedule for existing machinery on the ship so that its condition remains optimal. Researchers took the title of this study because they wanted to increase their understanding of the importance of routine maintenance of machinery on ships so that the machinery continues to work optimally. Researchers developed from the importance of maintenance and associated with the application of informatics techniques so that researchers wanted to design an application that functions for an android-based Plan Maintenance System information system that can be used as a maintenance reminder and engine maintenance results. Researchers used the Research and Development method to complete the research conducted with the development of Borg and Gall with the development of 10 steps, but researchers only took 9 steps because researchers did not make products in bulk. The 9 steps are the potential problem stage, information gathering, initial product design, product trial I, product revision I, design validation, product revision II, product trial II, and final product finalisation. The results of the research on making the android-based Plan Maintenance System information system application can be done using all types of computers that have Native Script installed to do the application coding process. This Plan Maintenance System application can be used by cadets of the Semarang Polytechnic of Shipping Science and Engineers who are on board as a means of knowledge and as an information system regarding maintenance of machinery spare parts

Abstract

The work of calculating ship fuel for machinists can now be changed to automatic in the Android application . With this, work will be faster and more accurate. The aim of the research is to find out how to make applications and how the Android-based fuel calculation system works on MVs. Pacific Bulk. The method used is research and development and Bord and Gall development with 10 steps. The research results show that the use of Android applications in calculating fuel on MV. Pacific Bulk is very useful for making it easier and faster for machinists to calculate ship fuel. The design process for the Android-based fuel calculation application on the MV Pacific Bulk Ship was carried out using Android Studio as an Integrated Development Environment (IDE). It can be operated using an Android cellphone which will make it easier to calculate the remaining fuel on the MV. Pacific Bulk Ship
