Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aimed to determine the potential inhibition of ethanol extract of Etlingera alba rhizome against the Cronobacter muytjensiis bacteria and its development in a granule dosage form. Measurement of Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) using the Broth Microdilution method while granule formulation used the wet granulation method. The results of this study indicate a concentration of 32μg/mL in C. muytjensii as an inhibition of bacterial growth by looking at the absorbance value that was close to 0 and confirmed by spectrophotometric results to see the turbidity of each concentration. This study used 12 extract concentrations, namely 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 102, and 4096 μg/mL. The granule formulation used 5% gelatin as a binder, Explotab® 4%, 1% magnesium stearate, aerosil PH 101 4%, and lactose ad. 100%. Tablets of ethanol extract of E. alba rhizome qualified for evaluation of weight uniformity and size uniformity evaluation tests.Keywords:Etlingera alba, MIC, granulABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi penghambatan ekstrak etanol rimpang Etlingera alba terhadap bakteriCronobacter muytjensiiserta pengembangannya dalam bentuk sediaan granul. Pengukuran Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) dengan metode Broth Microdilutiondan formulasi granul menggunakan metode granulasi basah.Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan konsentrasi 32μg/mL pada C. muytjensii sebagai penghambatan pertumbuhan bakteri dengan melihat nilai absorbansi yang mendekati 0 dan dikonfirmasi dengan hasil spektrofotometri untuk melihat turbiditas masing-masing konsentrasi.Penelitian ini menggunakan 12 konsentrasi ekstrak yaitu 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 102 dan 4096 μg/mL. Formulasi granul menggunakan bahan gelatin 5% sebagai pengikat, Explotab® 4%, magnesium stearat 1%, aerosil PH 101 4% dan laktosa ad. 100%.
