Abstract

This study aims to analyze the history of halal-bihalal gathering held in the Mangkunegaran Palace. The tradition was carried out distinctively during the Mangkunegara VIII era in 1945-1978. The period marked the shift from the Colonial era to the Independent era of Indonesia, resulting in the dynamics of procession and aim of halal-bihalal. The culture-historical approach was employed to determine the specific pattern of phenomenon and to understand the morphology of culture. The stages of historical method, namely heuristics, criticism, historiography, and interpretation, were done. The results of research based on the theory of symbolism and the role of power show that halal-bihalal gathering in the Mangkunegaran reflected the social classes in which the invited guests with upper social level occupied the very very important personal seats. Nevertheless, the event also brought positive impact since people from various backgrounds could gather peacefully and eliminate the conflicts among the classes. As an implication, the tradition was perceived as an important event and held regularly. It was also popular outside the palace and imitated by Islamic organizations using the same term, halal-bihalal.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of inclusive education in inclusive madrasas, particularly madrasah ibtidaiyah, in Central Java, Indonesia. Four inclusive madrasas were involved, namely: Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Muhammadiyah Kartasuro Sukoharjo, Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Keji Ungaran Semarang Regency, Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Ma'arif Sidomulyo, and Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Salafiyah Kebumen. As qualitative research, several techniques were employed to collect data, including observation, interviews, forum group discussion, and documentation. The interviews with policy makers, school principals, vice principals, teachers, and inclusive education teams were carried out. This article argues that inclusive schools are implemented based on the three pillars, namely culture, policy, and practices. An inclusive school culture is manifested in the provision of inclusive education services. The inclusive policies are manifested in the vision, mission, and featured programs supported by the capacity development for the treatment of children with disabilities. The practices of inclusive education in madrasas entail the identification and assessment of children with disabilities, as well as the adaptation and accommodation of the curriculum. The inclusive instruction is equipped with individual learning program plans, integrated and modified methods, media, and assessment.

Abstract

This paper explores social media as a means to improve the scientific literacy of Muslim higher education students. A qualitative study was conducted with data collected from interviews, observations, documentation, forum group discussion, and questionnaire. Triangulation method was used to validate the data, while interactive analysis was performed to analyze the data. This study demonstrates that Muslim higher education students were familiar in using social media to improve their knowledge regarding the inclusiveness of Islam. In this context, three major types of media were social media networks (WhatsApp and Facebook), sharing media (Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok), and blog and microblog (blog and Twitter). Nevertheless, social media brought adverse impact on the management of lecture materials, triggered self-insecurity, and spread hoax or fake news.
