Abstract

Abstract

Makrifat is very important to be known and owned by every Muslim, although generally Sufis view makrifat to be understood and owned by people who have a high station. Therefore, many ordinary people avoid trying to understand makrifat. This study attempts to explain the concept of makrifat in the book Syar al-Ḥikam by Kyai Sholeh Darat. The results showed that Kyai Sholeh Darat's concept of makrifat is the state of a servant who always remembers God and needs Him in any circumstances. The concept of makrifat can cross between groups so that it can be understood in the current conditions. A person who is wise today always remembers Allah and needs Him, so that he can take goodness in everything he faces, both in the fields of technology, social relations, culture, economy, and politics.

Abstract

This article discusses the role of Sufism, particularly the Idrisiyyah Order, in promoting religious moderation in the contemporary Islamic era. This research employs a library research method, collecting and analyzing written sources from books, scholarly journals, articles, and official documents. The data collected includes literature on Sufism, the Idrisiyyah Order, and religious moderation in contemporary Islam. The approach combines sociological and religious perspectives, aiming to understand how the Idrisiyyah Order contributes to modern society and how Sufi teachings and the values of religious moderation are applied in daily life. Using the literature study method, this research explores how the teachings of the Idrisiyyah Order, founded by Ahmad Ibnu Idris al-Fasi, emphasize the principles of love, tolerance, and spirituality. This order emerged as a response to the radicalism and extremism prevalent in today's society. The Idrisiyyah Order is crucial in shaping moderate attitudes through educational approaches, community economic development, and strengthening social networks in Indonesia. These Sufi teachings focus on purifying the heart and spreading compassion, contributing to rejecting violence and intolerance. In this way, the Idrisiyyah Order helps create a more harmonious and peaceful society, demonstrating that spiritual teachings can significantly address contemporary social challenges. This study provides insight into how spiritual approaches can effectively promote moderation and tolerance in Islam

Abstract

This study explores the role of Ngaji Tasawuf Online in preserving classical Islamic knowledge, focusing on the digital transmission of Ihya’ Ulumuddin by Imam Ghazali, led by Ulil Abshar Abdalla. In the context of advancing information technology, digital recitation emerges as an adaptive method for sustaining spiritually rich traditional teachings. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through documentation studies and observations of online sessions shared via platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and Spotify. The findings indicate that online recitation enhances accessibility, particularly for individuals constrained by time and location. Moreover, social media facilitates real-time interaction between teacher and participants, fostering a dynamic, though virtual, learning environment. While challenges remain in preserving the depth of classical pedagogy in digital formats, online recitation effectively maintains spiritual traditions in a way that aligns with modern life. Ultimately, it serves not only as a means of knowledge transmission but also as a platform for reinforcing the relevance and depth of classical Islamic teachings today.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the persistent stereotype that Sufism and its followers are withdrawn from worldly affairs and passive in socio-economic engagement. Such perceptions are further reinforced when associated with the pilgrimage of Hajj, often viewed as the pinnacle of individual spirituality. The purpose of this research is to explore how modern Sufi practices, particularly in the context of Hajj, actively promote social movements and engagement in the digital economy. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using literature analysis and case studies of Sufi communities that integrate spiritual values with digital economic initiatives and community empowerment, especially in relation to Hajj-related activities. The theoretical framework is based on social movement theory and spiritual economy, focusing on the transformation of Sufis’ roles in contemporary society. The findings reveal that certain Sufi communities are actively developing digital economic ecosystems that support the Hajj, such as sharia-based crowdfunding platforms, spiritually inspired micro-enterprises, and productive zakat and waqf initiatives. These activities demonstrate that Sufis are no longer confined to an exclusive ascetic lifestyle but are evolving into progressive socio-economic actors. The study concludes that contemporary Sufism, through the integration of spiritual values and modern socio-economic practices, successfully challenges ascetic stereotypes and affirms its relevance in the context of Hajj and inclusive community development.
