Abstract

Background: The use of chemical drugs for long periods can lead to new disease for many body organs damaged by chemical drugs. Aware of the danger, people are starting to reduce the use of chemical drugs and turn to traditional medicines. Although the use of traditional medicine has a lot of data but user education is still a bit of traditional medicine. Background information studied education because education can influence the perception held one perception to traditional medicine. Objective: To explore community perceptions of traditional medicine based education. Method: The study is a qualitative explanatory associative. His research interests Purwakarta Regency society as much as 137 people. Selection and sampling using conditional sampling method, which is analyzed by the scale Ridwan (2009). Retrieving data using questionnaires. Results: The group never attended (TPK) perception and interest strongly agree and agree to traditional medicine by 78.7%, 62.7% and at S1 S2 / S3 66%. TPK groups agree and strongly agree traditional medicine has the potential to be developed with a percentage of 81.9%, 70.3% S1 and S2 / S3 76.7%. TPK groups agree and strongly agree folk medicine cure enough to give evidence to the percentage of 67.4%, 51.8% S1 and S2 / S3 50%. TPK groups agree and strongly agree traditional treatment facilities are still modest at 80.4%, S1 agreed amounted to 50.6% and S2 / S3 are agreed by 50%.. Conclusion: For the perception and interest towards traditional medicine and traditional medicine shows potential for the development of a large percentage of the group TPK, then S2 / S3 then S1. Traditional treatment sufficient to provide evidence of healing and traditional medicine practices facilities showed a large percentage in the group of TPK, the next and last S1 S2 / S3.

Abstract

Background: Acne treatment using antibacterial has side effects such as irritation and indirect organ damage [1]. Therefore we need other alternatives for safer use of natural ingredients. Natural materials that can be used are usually derived from medicinal plants, vegetables and fruits. [2] Considering the superiority of moringa (Moringa oleifera Lam) and yam (Pachyrhizus erosus.L) leaves that both contain efficacious compounds for facial skin care, researchers are interested in conducting research by making mask preparations for Moringa leaf extract and yam starch. Research Objectives: making moringa leaf and yam starch preparations which can be taken anywhere practically. Method: This research uses the Action Research method with three formulations with different ratio of Moringa leaf extract and yam starch, F1 (3gr: 7gr), F2 (2.5gr: 7.5gr) and F3 (2gr: 8gr) . Results: Organoleptic test results of Moringa oleifera Lam (Moringa oleifera) mask and yam (Pachyrhizus erosus.L) mask masks which have been tested and observed for 3 weeks showed that there were no significant changes. The results of pH tests conducted for 3 weeks showed the results of pH at F1 (3gr: 7gr), F2 (2.5gr: 7.5gr) and F3 (2gr: 8gr) were relatively stable at around 5. Conclusion: From the pH test which is done once a week it shows a stable pH result which is around 5, in accordance with normal face pH around 4.5-6.5. Organoleptic test results performed on the three formulations did not show significant changes. Changes are only found in the distinctive aroma of Moringa leaf extract, this is due to the addition of Moringa leaf extract to each formulation with different amounts.

Abstract

Background: A burn is damage to the skin tissue caused by hot objects, electric shock, chemicals or radiation. Herb Centella asiatica and aloe vera is a plant that is know to have a healing effect on burns. Objective: This study aims to make burn gel preparations made from aloe vera with pegagan and to determine the stability seen from the organoleptic test for 3 weeks. Method: The research method used is action research which consists of four components, namely planning, acting, observing and reflecting. Preparations were made into 3 formulations of gotu kola leaf simplicia and aloe vera gel with the composition of F1 (75% gotu kola leaves, 25% aloe vera), F2 (50% gotu kola leaves, 50% aloe vera), F3 (25% gotu kola leaves, 75 % Aloe vera). Results: The combination gel preparation of Aloe Vera Meat with Gotu Kola made in this study is in 3 (three) formulations, namely F1, F2 and F3 with the composition F1 (75% Gotu kola Leaf Extract, 25% Aloe Vera Meat Extract) produces a semi-solid form, dark brown green, the distinctive aroma of gotu kola extract with a soft, sticky texture. For F2 with the composition (50% gotu kola extract and 50%, aloe vera meat extract), it produces a semi-solid form, dark brown green, with a distinctive aroma of gotu kola extract with a sticky slippery texture. F3 with the composition (25% gotu kola extract, 75% aloe vera meat extract) produces a semi-solid form, dark brown green, with a distinctive aroma of gotu kola extract with a sticky liquid texture. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that the gel for F1 burns is stable in room temperature storage and safe for use by the community with a pH range of 6.

Abstract

Background: In the market, more and more food products are rich in antioxidant compounds, but red dragon fruit peel (Hylocereus costaricensis cortex) which is considered as waste contains high levels of antioxidants. Tomato fruit (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill) has very strong antioxidant activity because it contains lycopene which is the main pigment in tomatoes. Purpose: This study aims to make a combination sheet jam preparation of tomatoes and dragon fruit peel as an antioxidant-rich supplement that is easy to safe, practical and healthy for public consumption. Methods: The research method used is action research using research instruments in the form of an organoleptic test sheet and a preference test. Preparations made with the composition ratio of tomatoes and red dragon fruit skin, each formula is 100 grams of tomatoes :100 grams of red dragon fruit skin and a variety of sweeteners for F I as much as 40 grams, for F II as much as 50 grams and sweetener for F III as much as 60 grams. Results: The results of the organoleptic test at room temperature (15-30oC) showed that there was a change from day 6 to day 21, while the organoleptic test results at cold temperatures (± 4oC) had no change from day 1. Until the 21st day, the result of the favorite sheet jam test was formula 2, which was 86.6%. Conclusion: The conclusion that can be obtained is the result of the best composition variation is formula II with the number of tomatoes and dragon fruit skin is 1: 1 with added sugar as much as 50 grams. This is because the physical stability is good, namely organoleptic color, smell, taste, stable form does not have many fungi.

Abstract

Background: Serum is a preparation with high concentration of active substance and low viscosity which gives a more comfortable effect and spreads easily on the skin surface. Cucumber is a member of the cucurbitaceae family and can be a source of natural antioksidants because it contains vitamin C and flavonoids which are free to break free radikcal reactions and can restore electrons to unstable cells. Objective: This study aims ti determine the formulation of cucumber extrack in the form of facial serum and to determine the stability of cucumber extrack serum through organoleptic tests, gomogeneity tests, pH tests, and dispersibility tests. Methods: This study uses an action reseach design (action reseach) and uses the concept according to Kurt Lewin which consists of 4 components namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. Serum preparations are made with the main ingredients of cucumber (Cucumis Sativus L.), xhantan gum methyl paraben, butylene glycol, and aquadest with different concetrations of preservatives. Results: The results of the organoleptic test for 21 days of serum preparation with storage at room temperature, the positive control and F1 resulted in a preparation with good stability, and the negative control and F2 there was a change in aroma, shape and fungus began to appear on the 6th day. Conclusion: The serum preparation is relatively stable during the storage is the first formula with a pH of 6,69 above the standard pH (4,5-6,5) which is not safe for skin use.

Abstract

Background: Chinese petai is a plant that is considered not to have any properties. But actually has many health benefits. There are many solid soap preparations that contain Chinese petai leaves but the aroma is lacking so it needs to be developed by adding additional aromas to increase attractiveness. Objective: This study aims to make a solid soap formula based on Chinese petai leaf extract, lemongrass extract and pandan extract which is stable in organoleptic storage. Methods: The design of this research is action research that aims to solve a problem by using processes such as planning, action, observation, and reflection. This study used Chinese petai leaf extract, lemongrass extract and pandan leaf extract obtained by the maceration method. Solid soap preparations were made with various formulas, including F1 without the addition of pandan extract, F2 with the addition of 1% pandan extract, F3 with the addition of 2% pandan extract. Results: The results of the organoleptic study showed no changes in either F1, F2 and F3. In the observation of the pH test, pH 7 was obtained for the three formulas. The drying shrinkage test also obtained results that met the simplicia standard. Meanwhile, for the preference test, it was found that F2 was the most popular formula in terms of color 55%, aroma 45%, and form 100%. Conclusion: The conclusion from this study is that the solid soap preparation is stable for 3 weeks of storage and the preference test shows that F2 with the addition of 1% pandan extract is more preferred by the respondents

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Stunting merupakan salah satu masalah gizi global, termasuk di Indonesia. Setiap ibu menyusui akan mengupayakan berbagai cara agar dapat menyusui anaknya dengan lancar, termasuk menggunakan pendekatan alternatif dengan mengonsumsi bahan herbal sesuai tradisi dan pengalaman secara empiris seperti biji klabet yang berpotensi sebagai galaktagogum dalam peningkatan jumlah ASI melalui perangsangan aktivitas protoplasma sel-sel sekretoris kelenjar air susu, namun begitu evaluasi ilmiah terkait profil secara farmakognostik belum banyak ditemukan dengan mengacu sesuai acuan standar WHO Guidelines dan Farmakope Herbal Indonesia sehingga mendorong untuk mendapatkan informasi lebih lanjut. Tujuan Penelitian: Mendokumentasikan dan membandingkan data secara organoleptik, morfologi, maupun anatomi yang memberi wawasan tentang potensi biji labet sebagai produk herbal untuk meningkatkan kuantitas ASI melalui pengamatan karakteristik terhadap tumbuhan yang dianalisis. Metode Penelitian: Metode penelitian deskriptif yang dilakukan di laboratorium melalui pemeriksaan bentuk sel dan jaringan tumbuhan, pengamatan bentuk fisik serta pemeriksaan menggunakan panca indra dari bagian tumbuhan yang masih segar dari tumbuhan Klabet (Trigonella foenum-graecum L) sehingga bisa memberikan hasil data analisis farmakognostik. Hasil: Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengamatan secara organoleptik dan morfologi biji klabet memiliki bentuk belah ketupat, warna coklat, aroma khas rempah, rasa agak pahit dan tekstur keras. Sementara pada pengamatan anatomi menggunakan mikroskop diperoleh fragmen pengenal berupa kulit biji, epidermis luar, epidermis dalam, endosperm, sklerenkim dan bulir pati. Kesimpulan: Biji klabet yang diteliti telah sesuai secara organoleptik, morfologi, dan anatomi dengan mengacu pada literatur Materia Medika pada Studi Farmakognostik Biji Klabet (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.).

Abstract

Latar belakang: Jerawat dapat dipicu salah satunya oleh bakteri Staphylococcus aureus. Hasil skrining fitokimia sirih cina (Peperomia pellucida) mengandung flavonoid, alkaloid, saponin dan terpenoid yang bisa menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri penyebab jerawat. Lidah buaya (Aloe vera) mengandung asam salisilat dan antiseptik yang dapat mencegah timbulnya jerawat dan mengobati iritasi. Mengingat kandungan sirih cina dan lidah buaya yang baik mengatasi jerawat dan masih minimnya sediaan kosmetik antijerawat dari bahan alam dalam bentuk masker gel peel off maka kedua bahan tersebut dibuat sediaan masker gel peel off  dan dilakukan uji daya hambat terhadap Staphylococcus aureus. Tujuan Penelitian: Mengetahui daya hambat sediaan masker gel peel off kombinasi ekstrak sirih cina dan lidah buaya pada bakteri Staphylococcus aureus. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan metode tindakan (action research) yaitu merencanakan pengujian sediaan masker gel peel off ekstrak sirih cina dan lidah buaya melalui studi literatur, melakukan uji daya hambat dengan metode difusi sumuran, mengamati daya hambat masker gel peel off pada bakteri Staphylococcus aureus, dan menganalisis hasil uji daya hambat. Hasil: Rata-rata hasil uji daya hambat masker gel peel off dengan konsentrasi ekstrak 30% adalah 1,63 mm, konsentrasi 40% adalah 1,13 mm, konsentrasi 50% adalah 1,4 mm, konsentrasi 60% adalah 2,4 mm, kontrol – adalah 0 mm dan kontrol + adalah 2,7 mm. Simpulan: Hasil uji daya hambat menunjukkan bahwa pada masker gel peel off sirih cina dengan lidah buaya dengan konsentrasi 30%, 40%, 50%, dan 60% memiliki daya hambat terhadap Staphylococcus aureus meskipun kategorinya lemah.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Sirih Cina (Peperomia pellucida) memiliki manfaat empiris sebagai obat. Bioaktivitas dominannya adalah sebagai antibakteri dengan senyawa aktif flavonoid, steroid, terpenoid, alkaloid, saponin, dan tannin. Evaluasi ilmiah terkait profil farmakognostik Sirih cina telah terdokumentasi dalam referensi Farmakope Herbal, namun karena bentuk segarnya memiliki nilai teurapetik yang tinggi dengan pengolahan sederhana, standarisasi dan dokumentasi masih memiliki kelemahan dalam pengamatan secara mikroskopis. Dengan hal ini penting untuk mengetahui anatomi sirih cina untuk memastikan kebenaran tanaman obat. Tujuan: Mendeskripsikan anatomi akar, batang, dan daun sebagai parameter kendali mutu Sirih cina segar sebagai tanaman lokal berkhasiat obat yang tumbuh di Purwakarta. Metode: Menggunakan penelitian deskriptif yang dilakukan di laboratorium melalui pemeriksaan jaringan akar, batang, dan daun sirih cina segar. Hasil: Anatomi akar sirih cina memiliki sel epidermis rapat tanpa ruang antar sel. Di bawah lapisan epidermis terdapat jaringan korteks berupa sel berukuran lebih besar dan memiliki ruang antar sel. Pada korteks, terdapat xilem akar seperti huruf x dan floem berada di sekitar xilem. Jaringan batang juga terdiri dari epidermis dan korteks seperti pada akar, yang membedakan adalah pola xylem floem pada korteks tidak membentuk pola seperti kupu-kupu dan terdapat jaringan kambium. Pada jaringan daun terdiri dari epidermis atas yang tebal, mesofil, dan epidermis bawah. Jaringan mesofil memiliki ciri berupa sel berwarna hijau yang berperan untuk fotosintesis. Simpulan: Jaringan pada akar sirih cina adalah epidermis, korteks, floem, xilem, pada organ batang adalah epidermis, parenkim, floem, xilem, kambium dan pada organ daun adalah epidermis dan mesofil.

Abstract

Latar belakang: Desa Mekarjaya berada 28 Km dari pusat kota Purwakarta Kecamatan Pondoksalam, dimana wilayahnya berupa pengunungan, suhu udara 170 – 260C, angka curah hujan 3.000 – 5.000 mm/tahun. Lokasi Desa Mekarjaya jauh dari pusat kota, akses masyarakat Desa Mekarjaya untuk fasilitas kesehatan yang lengkap pun terkendala waktu dan biaya. Kondisi iklim dan tanah yang baik untuk ditanami tanaman obat keluarga (TOGA) menjadi salah satu alternatif strategi yang dapat dimanfaatkan untuk menjaga kesehatan tubuh oleh masyarakat Desa Mekarjaya. Setelah dilakukan pengamatan lingkungan di Desa Mekarjaya, tanaman berkhasiat obat banyak ditemukan tumbuh namun masih kurang pemanfaatannya dikarenakan kurangnya informasi pada masyarakat. Tujuan: Memberikan penyuluhan bagi masyarakat Desa Mekarjaya tentang tanaman obat keluarga (TOGA) untuk pemeliharaan kesehatan. Metode: Kegiatan penyuluhan diawali dengan memberikan soal pretes untuk mengetahui pengetahuan awal, dilanjutkan pemberian materi dan diskusi tentang tanaman obat, kemudian masyarakat diberi soal postest untuk mengetahui peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat dan diberi angket untuk mengetahui respon masyarakat tentang kegiatan penyuluhan yang telah dilakukan. Hasil: Pengetahuan masyarakat meningkat berdasarkan nilai pretest rata-rata 82,4 sedangkan hasil posttest rata-rata 91,5. Berdasarkan hasil angket, masyarakat memberikan respon positif terhadap kegiatan penyuluhan TOGA yang telah dilakukan. Materi yang disampaikan jelas, gambar TOGA yang menarik dan dengan waktu yang cukup membuat masyarakat dapat mengikuti penjelasan yang diberikan. Adanya diskusi interaktif juga membuat pemahaman masyarakat semakin meningkat. Kesimpulan: Terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan pada masyarakat Desa Mekarjaya tentang tanaman obat keluarga dan masyarakat merespon positif terhadap kegiatan penyuluhan yang dilakukan.
