Abstract

This study aims to offer teachers' perspectives on the effects of integrating online learning, utilizing technology accepted models (TAM) by Davis, during the spread of the Corona virus. This study employed an exploratory case study to dig up further about English teachers’ perception toward online learning based on TAM. The participants consisted of 20 SMPN teachers to respond the questioner and 5 SMPN teachers to answer the interview in Jombang region, East java, Indonesia. The data were obtained from questionnaires and interviews developed based on TAM. All participants completed online research questionnaires with Google Form application. And was followed by interviews to support the finding from questionnaire. The results indicated that participants held a favorable opinion about the perceived utility, convenience of use, and behavioral intention of online learning systems.   The majority of teachers agreed on online learning. Although the teachers faced multiple challenges when conducting online classes, they remained optimistic about utilizing technology for remote instruction.

Abstract

Indonesian government policy supports the international of education at thesecondary level, consequently more institutions have commenced bilingual programs.Content is taught both in Bahasa Indonesia and English, making code-switching inclassroom discourse. The study was conducted at a single International school inSemarang, East Java, Indonesia. This case study explored in what ways and underwhat circumstances Indonesian teachers and learners use code-switching in theselected bilingual classroom and semi structured interviews with six-bilingual classstudents and teachers at an International secondary school in Semarang, East Java inIndonesia are used to get the data. The finding shows Teachers’ and students’ codeswitchingdemonstrated collectivist phatic functions – for example, teachers codeswitchedto build rapport, remind students and reduce students’ anxiety, and studentscode-switched to show their solidarity and concern for their peers. Thus,interconnectedness was a key characteristic of code-switching by both teachers andstudents. This study argues that code-switching is not just about language deficiency,but involves intentional communicative purposes which support teaching andlearning. It can be concluded that code-switching can be a useful tool to bring aboutunderstanding of unfamiliar concepts and processes as well as the languageassociated with them.

Abstract

The integration of neuroscience principles in online teaching can enhance student engagement and create a more engaging and brain-friendly learning experience. This study aims to portray the comparation of Indonesian and Pakistan EFL students’ behaviour,  cognitive and emotional  engagement in online classroom based on neuroscience  approach.  The participants in this research were students from Indonesian and Pakistan EFL students.  The purposive sampling was used to select the participants who were taking from students of STKIP PGRI Jombang of English language education students from Indonesia and students of Government College Peshawar, Pakistan. This study employed a mixed case study by using a quantitative and qualitative data. The instruments of this study were close- ended and open-ended questionnaires. close-ended questionnaire. The quantitative data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics   and the qualitative data was analyzed by thematic analysis. The findings showed that online learning in Indonesia and Pakistan shown to have positive levels of   behavioral, cognitive and emotional engagement. The most positive engagement from both Indonesia and Pakistan students was behavioral engagement. Then, students’ cognitive engagement was more positive than emotional engagement.  Then the finding also showed that the students engagement in Pakistan students was high positive level than Indonesia students.

Abstract

In view of the COVID-19 pandemic and government policy to carry out distance education by employing full online learning. The research explores the EFL students perception toward distance education during Covid19 Pandemic with online collaborative platforms which employed in EFL Students of English Department of a private college in Indonesia. This research used a descriptive case research using purposive sampling techniques by taking 27 respondents from English Department at STKIP PGRI Jombang. The online questionnaire used to collect data on the perception of students by employing online collaborative platforms. The questionnaire are adapted from the technology acceptance model (TAM) constructed by Davis, 1989 with little modification as it excludes the external factors such as the availability of the internet access, and the support from the administration. TAM is possibly the most widely-used framework for measuring technology acceptance, and its high validity has been proven empirically in many previous studies (Basri & Paramma, 2019 and Wiyaka et.al., 2018). The quantitative data was collected using an online questionnaire posted in Google form. The method of descriptive case research in terms of percentage has been used for data processing. The result of this research indicates the positive perception those EFL students of English Department at STKIP PGRI Jombang who took Critical Reading by using online collaborative platforms held on the use of online collaborative platforms. Further research can refer to this Acceptance Model in determining a suitable ICT integrated learning program betien various platform and the user expectations of the online platforms used.

Abstract

Pendidik di seluruh Indonesia baik guru maupun dosen diwajibkan oleh pemerintah untuk dapat mendesiminasikan karya tulisnya yang merupakan hasil penelitian yang salah satunya dari pengalaman mengajar ke dalam bentuk artikel yang diterbitkan di jurnal ilmiah. Namun karya ilmiah tentunya harus mengikuti trend kurikulum yang sedang berjalan saat ini yaitu pembelajaran berbasis high order thinking skills (HOTS) di kurikulum merdeka belajar. Untuk menjawab kewajiban tersebut maka pelatihan penulisan artikel ilmiah perlu dilaksanakan. Subyek kegiatan adalah guru SDN Denanyar I Jombang, dengan target kegiatan meningkatnya pemahaman guru dalam membuat artikel ilmiah berbasis high order thinking skills (HOTS) di kurikulum merdeka belajar. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 19 orang guru yang berasal dari SDN Denanyar I. Melalui kegiatan pengabdian yang telah dilakukan memiliki tiga hal yang ditingkatkan yaitu (1) pengetahuan guru tentang karya tulis ilmiah (2) penguatan HOTS berbasis kurikulum merdeka dan (3) motivasi guru-guru untuk mulai mempublikasikan karya tulis ilmiah berupa artikel ilmiah di jurnal. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode ceramah, diskusi, dan tanya jawab. Hasil dari pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini yaitu memberikan pemahaman tentang karya tulis ilmiah, alasan mengapa guru harus membuat karya ilmiah, konsep karya tulis ilmiah, dan proses menulis karya ilmiah, Kesimpulan dari kegiatan pendampingan ini adalah meningkatnya pemahaman guru dalam membuat artikel ilmiah berbasis HOTS serta keinginan dalam membuat artikel cukup tinggi. Kendala yang dihadapi guru dalam pembuatan artikel ilmiah adalah kurangnya referensi dan pembiasaan diri dalam menulis karya ilmiah.
