Abstract

This present research applied mixed methods research. The design of the research was sequential design. Population in this research was 94 students of the 6th semester of English Department in the State College for Islamic Studies (STAIN) Ponorogo. Since it applied population sampling technique, the number of sample was the same as the number of population. The researcher employed questionnaires, documentation, observation and in-depth interview as data collection technique. Since the hypothesis is intended to find the effect of students’ learning styles and their perception of blended learning on learning outcomes, the Simple Linier Regression by using SPSS 19.00 for Windows was applied. The second phase, the result of observation and in-depth interview were analyzed by Miles and Huberman’s view of qualitative data analysis consisting of data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusion. The findings showed that there is a significant effect of students’ learning style and their perception of blended learning on learning outcomes and the equation regression is Y = 76.784 + 0.595X1 + 0.312X. During the implementation, the lecturer adapted various models of blended learning for boosting students’ learning outcomes. Lecturer mixes the use of online and offline interaction in the teaching and learning process. It relates to the concept of Blended learning which integrate face-to-face and virtual learning environment. Students are given opportunity to convey their idea online through Edmodo platform, email and blog as well as communicating and discussing particular issues by face-to-face interaction with their classmates and lecturer.

Abstract

Employing communication activities for teaching grammar can  be a useful skill to learn and offer variety to the students and cater to the needs of learners who are keen to develop their ability to use English. It can be turned into a useful and even enjoyable enough experience, if real life tasks, student problems  and teacher requirements are taken into consideration and brought into balance in assessing grammar. To develop authentic assessment grammar activities, begin with the types of tasks that students actually need to do using the language. Grammar Assessment can then take the form of communicative drills and communicative activities used in the teaching process. It is related to scoring form and  grammar ssessmernt and also how language teachers need to adapt their scoring procedures  to reflect the two dimenssion of both declarative knowledge and procedural knowledge . The qualitative case study reported in this paper explored the  assessing grammar skills and ability in declarative and procedural knowledge regarding as  communicative approach in grammar class. semi –structure interviews  and Questioners  are used to collect the main source data.  The results showed that the students felt their grammar class more challenging by having some types of tasks measuring the students’ grammar skill and ability. It built up their curiosity , interest and motivation in learning grammar.

Abstract

Abstract: This research focused on incorporating Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) technique into Extensive Reading to the Fourth semester of English Department in STKIP PGRI Jombang. This research applied a qualitative research in which observation, interview, and documentation employed as data collection techniques. Abstract

Model-based learning portfolio is a learning model that has a strong basicprinciples such as the principle of active learning, cooperative learning groups, learningpartisipatorik and reactive. Besides, it has a strong thought that Re-education andreflection on the learning experience (Wayatt Looper, s1999: 31). This research has beenconducted to determine the effectiveness of the learning model with grammar basedstudent portfolio. The study design was quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest group ofnon-random. In collecting the data, two sets of grammar tests used for the pretest and theother is for the posttest, and questionnaires. Hypothesis testing used ANCOVA test. Theresults of the data analysis showed that 1) the application of the learning model portfolioget better achievement Grammar than students who learn grammar in a conventionalway, 2) The results of the questionnaire showed that overall student response to themodel portfolio of learning grammar with very positively.

Abstract

Melibatkan siswa dengan menggunakan platform pembelajaran bahasa online dalam proses pembelajaran dapat memberikan pengalaman belajar yang bermakna. Akibatnya, jika peserta didik yang termotivasi positif dalam kegiatan belajar, prestasi yang baik juga akan terlihat. Namun, dalam konteks EFL Indonesia, ada guru yang melakukan pelajaran bahasa Inggris dengan dukungan e-learning di sekolah tanpa memperhatikan sejauh mana keterlibatan siswa mempengaruhi prestasi mereka. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan hasil statistik keterlibatan siswa EFL dalam platform pembelajaran bahasa online serta tiga tingkat keterlibatan yang diklasifikasikan (tinggi, sedang, rendah) di seluruh pencapaian siswa. Desain penelitian ini adalah studi kasus deskriptif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui angket. Partisipannya adalah 70 mahasiswa EFL di IAIN Ponorogo. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan statistik deskriptif.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal (1) whether there is significance different students’ achievement who are taught grammar through integrating declarative and procedural knowledge by implementing E-Portfolio assessment and (2) the process of integrating declarative and procedural knowledge by implementing E-Portfolio assessment. It employed mixed method of concurrent design.The population of this research was 120 students of grammar class in English Department of STKIP PGRI Jombang. The number of sample was 40 students for experimental group and 40 students for control group by employing cluster random sampling technique. The data was collected through test and observation and it applied ANCOVA for quantitative data analysis and data display, data reduction and drawing conclusion for qualitative data analysis. The finding showed that (1) there is significant difference on students’ grammar understanding between experimental group and control group. (2) E portfolio through students’ blogs gives opportunity to students to engage their efforts, progress, and achievements in given areas and the strategy has the additional benefit of enabling students to publish and share ideasor tasks easily involving authentic audience or their classmates.It implied that assessing by using Electronic Portfolio is positively effective to be implemented in integrating both declarative and procedural knowledge in Grammar course.

Abstract

This study was describe the improvement of students’ reading comprehension and writing ability through CIRC. In conducting this study, the reseracher collected data from students of second semester Speaking class in their second semester at STKIP PGRI Jombang. . The problems faced in this class are the students were still confused of how to find implicit and explicit information, word meaning, and reference word in reading comprehension, the students were still confused how to start producing narrative text and sometimes they lose their ideas in the middle of composing narative text because they were lack of vocabularies.The instruments used here were interview. observation, field note, questionnaires, and test. . Each cycle consisted of four meetings in which two meetings were for implementing reading comprehension and the other two meetings were for implementing writing. The results of the study show that CIRC can improve (1) students’ ability in reading compehension and writing and (2) teaching and learning process. Thus, CIRC can be an alternative teaching strategy that benefits for improving students’ achievement, ability, and participation in the teaching and learning process.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menerapkan uji coba media pembelajaran kewirausahaan berbasis film dokumen wirausaha terpadu dengan model direct learning pada mahasiswa. Media berbasis film sangat sesuai untuk pembelajaran di kelas. Rancangan Penelitian ini   menguraikan tentang karakteristik dari penelitian kualitatif (Knopp, 1998) bersifat  naturalistic dan data bersifat deskriptif. Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan secara alami proses  pelaksanaan uji coba terbatas dengan model direct learning selama satu pertemuan berdurasi  150 menit, tanggal 10-11 April 2019, tempat uji coba di STKIP PGRI Jombang, program studi pendidikan ekonomi  yang dilakukan 2 kelas peserta masing kelas 34 peserta dan 28 mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan proses penerapan berjalan dengan prosedur direct learning, mahasiswa aktif mengikuti perkuliahan. Masukan informasi mahasiswa bahwa 90% media pembelajaran kewirausahaan berbasis film dokumen wirausaha telah layak sebagai media belajar dan bersifat fleksibel.

Abstract

Pengabdian masyarakat  ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru SDN Tanjunggunung , Peterongan Jombang. Peningkatan profesionalitas guru dilakukan melalui Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Pelatihan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dilakukan dengan strategi siklus yang dilakukan dengan tahapan dari identifikasi masalah, perencanaan, tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Berdasarkan identifikasi masalah bahwa masih banyak guru SDN Tanjunggunung  yang mengalami kesulitan dalam menyusun PTK dan melaksanakannya di kelas. Lemahnya kemampuan mereka dalam menyusun PTK disebabkan oleh keterbatasan pengetahuan atau pemahaman mereka tentang PTK secara praktek. Manfaat PTK di antaranya adalah membantu guru memperbaiki mutu pembelajaran, meningkatkan profesionalisme guru dan meningkatkan kompetensi guru. Kegiatan pelatihan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas ini memberikan dampak terhadap peningkatan pengetahuan yang signifikan tentang pemahaman penelitian tindakan kelas, pengolahan dan analisis data penelitian tindakan kelas. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan oleh dua dosen STKIP PGRI Jombang dan  dua mahasiswa STKIP PGRI Jombang. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan ini dilakukan dalam lima tahap yaitu (1) Persiapan awal(survei tempat dan analisa kebutuhan  ), (2) Pembuatan worksheet pelatihan penelitian tindakan kelas dengan mengenalkan model pembelajaran yang inovatif,  (3) Pelaksanaan Kegiatan (Pemberian materi dan pelatihan penelitian tindakan kelas ), (4) Praktik (pelaksanaan pembuatan penelitian tindakan kelas ), (5) Out put(pembuatan karya ilmiah berupa penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) secara  mandiri dan menghasilkan artikel  PTK yang baik  )  Hasil akhir dalam penelitian ini adalah proses pelatihan memberikan manfaat bagi guru, yaitu dapat meningkatkan pemahaman guru pada Penelitian Tindakan Kelas, menumbuhkan motivasi dalam menyusun PTK dan melaksanakan PTK, serta bagi sekolah dapat meningkatkan kinerja sekolah melalui peningkatan profesionalisme guru.

Abstract

The true challenge in academic setting is how to transform values and guide students’ mind growth with no excessive words. Thus, edusemiotics plays vital role and becomes a dominant in teaching and learning communication. Edusemiotics represents a new conceptual framework of theoretical study and the empirical one. This study aims at exploring how English Education Department students of 2017 A class STKIP PGRI Jombang elaborate ideas in interpreting signs on the picture to reflect their critical thinking ability. The data were taken from 10 students based on convenient sampling. This research performed qualitative method with a case study as research approach. Those students were in Extensive Reading class and asked to freely interpret the picture in accordance with their background of knowledge. There are three important findings; (1) students’ chosen picture, (2) students’ reading habit and personal experiences regarding with extensive reading, and (3) students’ critical thinking measurement and level. The result shows that 7 of students’ critical thinking level are in developing level while the 3 of students are in mastering level. Most of them basically have the reading habit before getting Extensive Reading program and it increases afterwards. The critical thinking ability is shown from how they elaborate ideas in interpreting sequence of signs on the picture and how they understand the values within.
