Abstract

The 4.0 of industrial revolution had a considerable impact on the advancement of media and information technology. The flow of information that can no longer be dammed causes anyone, as a media user, to be ready and have a filter to use it. The impact of the media has a great influence on the younger generation. The ease of access makes this media an inseparable important part of adolescents, including teenagers in Pekanbaru City. However, in today’s reality not a few teenagers who are trapped in the nature of access. This phenomenon is of concern to researchers to find out how media literacy experiences among teenagers in Pekanbaru City by Individual Competence Framework. Adolescents referred to in this study are students who sit in the Senior High School in the City of Pekanbaru, which is a representation of the teenagers. The research method used is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. The results of this study indicate that media literacy experience in adolescents in Pekanbaru city is a three level of adolescent, there are: technical skills at the medium level, and critical understanding at the basic level. At the level of non-formal education, adolescents barely get it from the family, but instead get it from the peergroup.

Abstract

Reporting on the Implementation of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) has become a national issue that is reported by the media which raises pros and cons in the community. This study aims to determine how the analysis of social semiotics on PPKM news on the news site coil.com. Michael Alexander Kirkwood (M.A.K) Halliday's Social Semiotics is included in the Discourse Analysis model which is able to find out how the content of texts, messages are packaged and delivered with three concepts including the field of discourse, discourse involvement, and means of discourse. In this study, the researcher used a qualitative descriptive research method with observation, documentation, and interview data. This study emphasizes seeing the analysis of social semiotics applied by the coil.com site related to PPKM news for the period 21-25 July 2021. The results show that in this study there is an alignment of the media towards the government as seen from the delivery of government programs very well, presenting sources with disproportionate appearance only appear as the main sources from the government in a monologue, and coil.com tries to minimize public disappointment with the choice of the right language style to make readers understand more about the content of the news.

Abstract

The use of technology and the internet has also had a big impact on the field of education, especially in the daily learning process. The increasingly sophisticated development of technology today means that teachers and students can search for materials and teaching materials from anywhere, at any time, and from anyone. Education today tends to be flexible, more open, and easily accessible to anyone who needs it regardless of status, position or profession, a person's gender status, be it male or female, a person's age, whether a child, old person, teenager, or person. Adults, or educational experiences, and will continue to grow in the form of online learning systems. One of them is that school information media is used as a learning medium to hone teachers' skills, especially in writing. Teachers can apply citizen journalism. In this research, the researcher focused on two objectives, namely, The Role of Teacher Writing in the Citizen Journalism Process for managing school information media and The Role of Teacher Writing in the Citizen Journalism Process for managing school information media. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach. The results of this research illustrate the role of SMKN 4 Payakumbuh teachers in managing school information media through citizen journalism, which is not just information but also a medium for learning and honing skills for teachers.
