Abstract

This research was conducted in the presumptuous university forest faculty laboratory yellow Pekanbaru. This research was conducted for 6 months, namely from July -December 2018. This study aims to measure the yield and characteristics eucalyptus oil at various leaf sizes consisting of specific gravity, refractive index, solubility in 70% alcohol, and cineol content. Analyze effect size eucalyptus leaves to the characteristics of eucalyptus oil. This research is using a completely randomized design (CRD). This research is used to obtain provide information and input regarding the characteristics of eucalyptus oil and yield at different leaf sizes. Results from research on oil characteristics Eucalyptus at various leaf sizes consists of, whole eucalyptus leaves obtained yield 0.59%, moisture content 1.074%, specific gravity 0.953, refractive index 1.467, solubility in 70% 1: 2 alcohol, the cineol content is 71.67%. Two cut leaves are obtained yield 0.49%, moisture content 0.842%, specific gravity 0.921, refractive index 1.465, solubility in 70% alcohol 1: 3, cineol content 63.33. Cut eucalyptus oil leaves three obtained yield 0.39, water content 0.908, specific gravity 0.924, inex bias 1.465, solubility in 70% alcohol 1: 4, cineol content 68.33%. Treatment of leaf size significant effect on yield, solubility in 70% alcohol and not significant effect on specific gravity, refractive index, and cineol content.

Abstract

Lancang Kuning University Campus (UNILAK) is one of the campuses that has a fairly wide area and has enormous potential, especially related to the use of space whose potential has not been maximally utilized to support the Tridharma activities of higher education. The lack of land use is due to a more detailed inventory of land cover types that have not yet been carried out so that data and information related to existing land cover types are still very minimal. So it is necessary to identify the type of land cover and land cover characteristics at the Unilak Campus, to obtain information and data for further use. Land cover is the mention of biophysical appearance on the surface of the earth consisting of areas of vegetation, open land, built up land, water bodies and wetlands. One of the activities carried out for land cover data collection is land cover inventory activity using applications in the senses and GIS to collect data on land cover types in the study area coverage. Information on the types of land cover can be obtained from land cover data inventory activities through ground check activities or data collection on land cover conditions in the field.

Abstract

Using chainsaws in logging activities, operators need to ensure that the chainsaws used are fit for use and comply with predetermined standards, particularly in accordance with operational standards that ensure safety and health while working. Modifying the chainsaw is not justified, because it will make the operator unsafe situation. PT. PSPI is one of industrial plantation forest companies in Riau Province which currently produces timber forest products for pulp and paper raw materials. Logging activies in PT. PSPI is still using chainsaw for cutting tree. In logging activities using chainsaws, companies and operators need to ensure that the chainsaws to be used are in proper condition in accordance with predetermined operational standards, the aim to ensure operator stay safety and health while working. The result of this research in identifying chainsaw machines in logging activities carried out at PT. PSPI used 4 indicators, specification of machine chainsaw, the condition of chainsaw, the modification and the age of the chainsaw. Chainsaw is using operators at PT. PSPI is categorized as feasibility enough for use in logging activities with a score of 70.
