Abstract

Pharmaceutical logistics management is a critical aspect of healthcare service management in hospitals, including RSUD dr. Rasidin Padang. This study aims to explore pharmaceutical logistics management, focusing on human resources (HR), infrastructure, and drug storage procedures. A qualitative phenomenological approach was used, involving four key informants: the head of the pharmacy department, the pharmacy warehouse coordinator, and two drug and medical consumable logistics officers. The findings reveal that the existing HR is insufficient, particularly during periods of increased workload. Although the qualifications of the staff meet the requirements, no formal training on drug storage has been conducted. The infrastructure, such as warehouse space and storage equipment, is generally adequate but lacks essential items like ladders for accessing high shelves. Standard operating procedures (SOPs) are available and provide crucial guidance, but their implementation is hindered by workforce limitations. In conclusion, the pharmaceutical logistics management at RSUD dr. Rasidin Padang has a solid foundation but requires additional workforce, specialized training, and facility improvements to enhance effectiveness. Keywords: Pharmaceutical logistics, drug storage

Abstract

Drug distribution is a crucial aspect of drug management in healthcare facilities. However, this process often faces various issues that may affect the quality and continuity of drug distribution. This study aims to analyze the implementation of risk management in the drug distribution process at the pharmacy installation in healthcare facilities. The method used in this study is a systematic literature review with a traditional review approach. Article searches were conducted through four databases, namely Google Scholar, Springer Link, PubMed, and Elsevier, using the keywords "distribution of drugs AND risk management AND pharmaceutical services AND health care facilities." The results indicate several risks that may occur in drug distribution, such as dead stock, expired drugs, distribution errors, and discrepancies between the received and required quantities of drugs. Furthermore, factors contributing to these risks include storage system errors, human errors, and non-compliance with established procedures. Risk evaluation revealed that dead stock and distribution errors have a very high impact. This study recommends the need for a more systematic and structured risk management implementation in every healthcare facility to mitigate the impacts of identified risks. Keywords: Risk Management, Drug Distribution

Abstract

The storage of medical consumables in the pharmacy warehouse is an integral part of ensuring their quality and suitability before being distributed to patients. Errors in storage can damage the quality of medical consumables and result in losses for the hospital. This study aims to evaluate the management of medical consumables storage at RSUD Padang Pariaman from the perspectives of human resources, procedures, and infrastructure. The results indicate that the available human resources are adequate in terms of quantity and competency but require regular training to maintain work quality. Detailed SOPs have been developed; however, their implementation faces challenges, such as the absence of stock cards and labels on storage racks. From the perspective of infrastructure, several deficiencies were identified, including the lack of room thermometers, fire extinguishers, and storage space dividers. Based on the evaluation, corrective measures are needed, such as improving human resource competencies, enforcing SOP implementation, and providing facilities that meet the standards. With these improvements, the management of medical consumables can support optimal healthcare services. Keywords: storage, BMHP, pharmacy
