Abstract

Dian Novita Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo dheenov@yahoo.com   Abstract The study deals with the effectiveness of Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) strategy in teaching reading comprehension. The strategy is the combined-strategies instruction that draws on both reciprocal teaching and cooperative learning. Specifically, the study is aimed at finding out the significant improvement of students’ reading comprehension achievement after being taught using Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR). Based on the calculation of a t-test, the results show that there is a significant improvement in the students’ achievement after they got treated using Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) strategy when studying reading comprehension in the classroom. The t-test indicates that the score of the tvalue is higher than ttable (2.18 > 2.021). Here, the experimental group represents a better improvement after they received the treatment. Key words: Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR), Reading Comprehension  Abstrak Penelitian ini berhubungan dengan keefektifan strategi  Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) dalam pengajaran membaca. Strategi ini merupakan kombinasi dari dua strategi reciprocal teaching dan cooperative learning. Secara khusus, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat peningkatan kemampuan membaca mahasiswa secara signifikan setelah belajar dengan menggunakan  Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR).Berdasarkan perhitungan dengan menggunakan t-test diketahui bahwa terdapat peningkatan kemampuan membaca mahasiswa secara signifikan setelah belajar dengan menggunakan Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR). Abstract

Abstrak. Telah dilakukan pemaknaan produktif yang menyangkut kolaborasi praktis, teoritis dan komputasi dalam meningkatkan kinerja pembelajaran sains kimia, khususnya Kimia Fisika I: Struktur dan Ikatan. Kajian dilakukan melalui penelitian kinerja individu yang dilihat dari produktivitas mahasiswa dalam menerjemahkan buku wajib dan dalam mengembangkan media pembelajaran. Aktivitas pembelajaran dan respon mahasiswa dianalisis berdasarkan hasil observasi dan angket. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa produktivitas mahasiswa sangat tinggi dalam menghasilkan terjemahan buku wajib berbahasa Inggris ke dalam bahasa Indonesia (1 terjemahan lengkap/mahasiswa) dan dalam menghasilkan media pembelajaran berbasis powerpoit (32-40 file) yang dilengkapi virtualisasi gambar, animasi, dan video yang diperoleh dengan mengunduh dari internet. Dari hasil observasi dan angket diketahui bahwa mahasiswa yang menyatakan bahwa Kimia Fisika I: Struktur dan Ikatan Kimia sebagai materi yang sangat sulit, ternyata menjadi cukup bersemangat dalam belajar (60%) karena pendekatan cukup menarik (73%) dan merangsang kreativitas produktif dikalangan mahasiswa. Secara umum mahasiswa cukup tinggi semangat belajarnya (60%) dan cukup senang dengan pendekatan pembelajaran yang dilakukan (60%). Kata kunci:  pemaknaan produktif, sains kimia Abstract. Has done purport productive involving its practical, collaboration theoretical and computing in improving performance learning of chemical science especially chemical physics I: structure and bonding. The study was important through research performance individual viewed from productivity college student in translating book obliged and in developing media learning. Activity learning and response college student analyzed based on the observation and poll. The results show that a very high student productivity in producing translations of the book required language of United Kingdom into the language of Indonesia (1 complete translation/college student) and media-based learning in generating powerpoit (32-40 files) that include virtualization images, animations, and videos obtained by downloading from the internet. From the results of observation and the now well known that students who stated that chemical physics I: structure and chemical bonds as a very difficult matter, turned out to be quite interested in learning (60%) because it is quite an interesting approach (73%) and stimulates creativity productive among college students. In general students of their learning spirit is quite high (60%) and quite happy with the approach of learning done (60%). Key words: purport productive, chemical science

Abstract

Perangkat pembelajaran Kimia Fisika I dikembangkan untuk menghidupkan suasana kelas dalam berinteraksi dan membangkitkan minat belajar mahasiswa. Melalui penerapannya, mahasiswa dirangsang menemukan dan membangun pengetahuan secara bertahap sesuai konsep hirarki pengetahuan dari Gagne. Penelitian ini telah berhasil mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran Kimia Fisika I: Struktur dan Ikatan Kimia yang terdiri dari syllabus, lesson plan, worksheet, assessment, dan media pembelajaran berformat Microsoft Powerpoint dalam bahasa Inggris untuk perkuliahan KF I bagi mahasiswa kelas Internasional.  Hasil validasi perangkat menunjukkan bahwa Syllabus (skor 85,71-90), Lesson plan (skor 80-85), Worksheet (skor 54-95,71), Assessment (skor 80-82,5), dan Media Pembelajaran (skor 89,23) valid digunakan sebagai perangkat pembelajaran KF I. Hasil ujicoba perangkat pada mahasiswa Kelas Internasional menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa mampu memanfaatkan perangkat pembelajaran dalam menyelesaikan problem KF I (skor rata-rata 4), namun mahasiswa kurang mampu melakukan diskusi sebagai kelanjutan presentasi medianya (skor rata-rata 2). Mahasiswa memberi respon positif terhadap penerapan perangkat pembelajaran pada perkuliahan KF I (skor rata-rata respon 70%). Berdasarkan hasil validasi, hasil ujicoba, dan hasil respon mahasiswa dapat disimpulkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan cukup layak digunakan pada perkuliahan KF I bagi mahasiswa pendidikan kimia kelas Internasional Jurusan Kimia FMIPA Unesa. Kata kunci: pengembangan, inquiry, kimia fisika I. Learning device KF I developed to liven up the classroom interaction and student learning intriguing. Through practice, students discover and construct knowledge stimulated in stages according to the concept hierarchy knowledge from Gagne. This research has successfully developed a learning device Physical Chemistry I: Structure and Chemical Bonding consisting of syllabus, lesson plans, worksheets, assessment, and instructional media format Microsoft Powerpoint lectures in English to the students of class I KF International. The validation results indicate that the Syllabus (score of 85.71 to 90), Lesson plan (score 80-85), Worksheet (score of 54 to 95.71), Assessment (score of 80 to 82.5), and Learning Media (score 89 , 23) is used as a learning device valid KF I. The results of the tests on the International Class students showed that students are able to utilize the learning tools in solving problems KF I (an average score of 4), but students are less able to engage in a discussion as a continuation of the presentation medium (mean score 2). Students responded positively to the application of the learning in lectures KF I (an average score of 70% response). Based on the validation results, test results, and the results it can be concluded that the response of students learning device was developed enough to be used at the lecture KF I chemical education class for students International Department of Chemistry, Faculty Unesa. Abstract

Dian Novita Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo dheenov@yahoo.com Abstract Using morphemes in English teaching and learning process is essential to increase the mastery of students‟ vocabulary. In the case, morphemes are the powerful aspects to build words. The article is intended to propose the importance of morphemes as one of linguistic approaches to help the learners figure out the meaning of unknown words by combining morpheme clues and context clues. In addition, it is expected that English teachers can apply the method in their teaching and learning process. Here, the method is divided into three phases: the instructional phase, the practice phase, and reviews and assessments. Keywords: morphemes, English teaching and learning process, vocabulary Abstrak Menggunakan morfem dalam proses belajar mengajar bahasa Inggris sangat penting untuk meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata peserta didik. Dalam kasus ini, morfem adalah aspek kuat untuk membangun kata-kata. Artikel ini dimaksudkan untuk menunjukkan pentingnya morfem sebagai salah satu pendekatan linguistik untuk membantu peserta didik mengetahui arti dari kata-kata yang tidak diketahui dengan cara menggabungkan petunjuk-petunjuk morfemik dengan petunjuk-petunjuk kontekstual. Selain itu, para pengajar bahasa Inggris diharapkan dapat menerapkan metode tersebut dalam proses belajar mengajar mereka. Abstract

Extensive Reading subject has important benefits for EFL learners. The main purpose of the subject is to raise the positive reading habit for the students. However, for most students, Extensive Reading is not an easy subject to complete. This paper describes the implementation of syndicate learning approach in Extensive Reading subject at English Study Program, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo. The students’ perceptions of the approach were collected through survey research with opinionative with Likert scales as the instrument. In addition, there were 16 participants engaged in the study. The results showed that majority of the students gave positive views of syndicate learning approach for both as the individual participant and the member of group. The study is expected to contribute a solution for problems may rise in Extensive Reading subject.

Abstract

Batubara masih menjadi salah satu sumber energi utama di Indonesia, utamanya sebagai pemasok energi pembangkit listrik. Formasi Warukin menjadi salah satu formasi pembawa batubara dalam kuantitas besar di Cekungan Barito. Berdasarkan litostratigrafi dan pengeplotan nilai TPI (Total Presevation Index) dengan GI (Gelification Index) dalam diagram fasies Diessel menunjukkan bahwa lingkungan pengendapan batubara Formasi Warukin merupakan daerah delta dan dataran banjir yang masih kaya akan pasokan sedimen produk endapan crevarsse splay. Dari nilai reflektansi vitrinit menunjukkan batubara berada pada peringkat lignite (0.29) hingga high volatile bituminous C (0.49). Berdasarkan zona pembentukan hidrokarbon, peringkat batubara dengan nilai 0.49 telah berada pada zona awal pembentukan minyak. Dengan demikian ada indikasi kematangan batuan sumber untuk hidrokarbon dari Formasi Warukin

Abstract

This study aims to identify problems facing by participants in experiencing teaching pratice under The Strengthening Teaching Competency Programme. An evaluation method was employed through problem and issues maping, interpreting problem  dynamics, and improving actions. A qualitative-naturalistic approach with inteview was conducted during April-July 2009 to participants of Lower Secondary School Teacher Training  who live  in remote and rural areas in  Bandung, Bogor and Serang region. Interview was also   conducted to tutors, supervisors, programme manager, remote-school principals, peer teachers and students involved in the  teaching practicum/exercise. Observations and documentary study were employed to support the data of the interview. Problems  identified as  the low performance of  supervisory officials and partnership schools in guiding  student teachers in  developing didactic materials for both practicum and final exam. Most participants become stressed due to the absence of a definite timetable guidance process both in the process of lesson plan development, implementation of practicum and execution of final exams. It was suggested to redesign the current system with a more reliable system for participants coming from remote areas who wish to carry out teaching practice.

Abstract

In this digital era or Industrial 4.0 revolution, technological advances become things that cannot be solved in human life. Teachers must learn better in learning, need to utilize optimal learning resources, this is important, because the effectiveness of learning is also included by the willingness and ability to utilize learning media, such as the web (google class). In this era students are required to have certain skills, besides those educators are also required to have several competencies that must be possessed so that the e-learning program that they run can run well. An educator or teacher must be able to learn to be there to learn, be creative and fun.

Abstract

Learning can not only be done in the classroom with direct face-to-face activities but can now be done with the help of IT, for example with learned learning. Although learning with vi-learn or e-learn cannot indeed replace overall face-to-face learning in the classroom. The world of education cannot be separated from technological advances such as this study because sometimes in carrying out classroom learning there are obstacles that cannot be avoided. These obstacles can be administrative in nature such as national holidays which coincide with the schedule of courses and cannot be replaced on another day due to limited space and insufficient time. In this study, learning tools for the English for TEP-based learning program have been developed to learn the verbal communication skills of students majoring in chemistry. From the data from the validation results, it can be concluded that learning devices consisting of enrichment modules and worksheets are feasible to be used in learning lessons. Likewise, from the response data, students showed a positive response from students in using enrichment modules and worksheets.

Abstract

Learning materials have been developed which then conducted the study and validation to the expert lecturers and then tested to the students to find out the validity of the feasibility of learning materials in the field of Industrial Chemistry as one of the supporting subjects of Ecopreneurship in Chemistry Department. From the data obtained can be concluded that learning materials in the form of Lesson Plan, Worksheet, and Instrument Rating get very good criteria. These criteria are obtained based on theoretical feasibility and empirical feasibility. Based on these results, learning tools developed can be used as learning tools for Industrial Chemistry courses to support ecopreneurship.
