Abstract

Cultural heritage objects are evidence of historical heritage that is very useful in life, cultural heritage is also useful as a means of education as well as a historical tourism destination for the community. The purpose of this research is to find out historical heritage buildings in Langsa City, then to map the historical heritage buildings to be used as sources of information.The method in this study uses a historical method with stages namely the heuristic stage, the source criticism stage, the interpretation stage and the historiography stage. The result of the research is that there are five historical heritage buildings in Langsa City that have been designated as a Cultural Heritage with the Letter of the Mayor of Langsa in 2016. Then the mapping is carried out on the historical heritage which has been used as a source of information that is very helpful for local, regional, national and foreign tourists who visit Langsa City.

Abstract

This research discusses about umah pitu ruang found in the Gayo community in Tanah Gayo, Aceh. The purpose of the study is to describe the meaning umah pitu ruang and the history of the emergence of umah pitu ruang in the Gayo community. This study uses the historical method using five stages, namely topic selection, heuristics, verification, interpretation, and historiography. The results showed that umah pitu ruang is a series of words from the Gayo language, umah means house, pitu means seven, and space means space. Thus, umah pitu ruang can be interpreted as a house with seven rooms. The term umah itself is the influence of Austronesian traditions and languages. Umah pitu ruang is thought to have appeared hundreds of years ago long before the emergence of the Linge Kingdom. It all started with the arrival of the ancestors of the Gayo tribe who initially lived in baking pans but later built simple stilt houses. Over time, the number of residents, cultural, and customary knowledge that developed led to the emergence of umah pitu ruang.

Abstract

Makalah ini bertujuan untuk memahami adat istiadat Sumang, sejarah Sumang, ragamnya, nilai-nilai karakter Sumang dan revitalisasi Sumang dalam kehidupan masyarakat Gayo. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode sejarah dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Tahapan dalam metode sejarah adalah heuristik, kritik sumber, interpretasi dan historiografi. Hasil penelitian menun- jukkan bahwa sumang merupakan hukum adat asli gayo yang berasal dari bahasa gayo yang artinya ling gere jeroh, gere kona, gere jujur atau pecogah yang artinya kata-kata yang tidak baik, tidak dapat digunakan, tidak jujur atau bohong. Sumang juga berarti "tidak taat" yang berarti hal-hal yang sangat dilarang atau tidak sopan. Sumang hadir dalam kehidupan masyarakat Gayo sejak nenek moyang suku Gayo hidup dan disahkan sejak kerajaan Linge. Sumang dibedakan menjadi empat jenis, yaitu sumang perceraken, pelangkahen, pengunulen, dan penengonen/penerahen. Sumang mengandung nilai-nilai karakter seperti agama, tanggung jawab, cinta damai, kejujuran, dan lain sebagainya. Upaya revitalisasi Sumang dapat dilakukan oleh Dinas Pendidikan, Dinas Pariwisata, Dinas Lingkungan Hidup, Dewan Adat Gayo, dan Dinas Syariah Islam dengan cara bekerjasama. Tujuan kerjasama ini adalah selain saling besinergi dan memperkokoh tali persaudaraan, diharapkan juga masing-masing dinas mampu memperkenalkan kembali budaya sumang dengan mensosialisasikan kembali budaya sumang kepada masyarakat luas terutama ke sekolah-sekolah.
