Abstract

Hasil beberapa tes menunjukkan minat dan kompetensi membaca masyarakat Indonesia berada di tingkat yang memprihatinkan. Pemerintah Indonesia melalui Kemendikbud menggagas Gerakan Literasi Sekolah (GLS) untuk menanggulangi keadaan ini. Salah satu yang diajukan di tingkat SD adalah aktivitas Membaca Nyaring (Reading Aloud). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi persepsi siswa SD kelas rendah terhadap aktivitas tersebut.Penelitian ini merupakan sebuah studi kasus yang dilakukan di sebuah sekolah dasar swasta di Purwakarta, Jawa Barat. Penelitian dilakukan secara daring (online) dikarenakan keadaan Pembelajaran Jarak Jauh (PJJ) pandemi CoVid-19. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui tiga cara yaitu observasi (rekaman video yang dikirim melalui WhatsApp), angket (Google Form) dan wawancara (dalam bentuk Voice Note WhatsApp).Dibantu oleh orang tua, siswa-siswi SD kelas satu berjumlah18 orang melakukan aktivitas Membaca Nyaring. Terjadi pengurangan data responden dikarenakan tantangan PJJ pandemi CoVid-19 hingga hanya data dari lima responden yang memenuhi kriteria untuk dianalisa lebih lanjut.Data hasil penelitian menunjukkan sikap dan respon positif siswa terhadap aktivitas Membaca Nyaring ini antara lain melalui sikap memperhatikan sumber bacaan secara umum, mengangguk, tersenyum, tertawa, dan menirukan suara/ekspresi/gestur sesuai isi cerita. Seluruh siswa (100%) sepakat menyatakan senang dengan pelaksanaan aktivitas ini meski Sebagian (40%) merasa aktivitas ini tidak serta merta meningkatkan kepercayaan diri mereka untuk belajar membaca sendiri.

Abstract

Social emotional abilities are one of the supporters of multiple intelligence. This skill is absolutely necessary for every individual to face the surrounding community. So it is better if this ability is trained from an early age. aspects of emotional side development, because this aspect has a fairly large role in the child's life in the future. Therefore, this research aims to improve social emotional skills in young children through playing the traditional game of clogs originating from West Sumatra. This research is classroom action research (PTK) which was carried out in 2 cycles, including the planning stage, action stage, observation stage and also reflection. The aim of this research is to determine whether there is an increase in the social emotional abilities of young children through clog playing activities in group B at KB Raudhatul Jannah, Jatiluhur subdistrict, Purwakarta district. The research subjects were 20 children consisting of 6 girls and 14 boys. The data collection techniques used are observation and documentation. Results from observing the social emotional abilities of group B children in KB. Raudhatul Jannah after quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis. Achievement target or maximum value is 75%-100%. In the pre-cycle or before the action, the social emotional skills achievement value was 39,5%. Implementation of cycle I increased to 54%. Then in cycle II it became 89%. This means that using the traditional clog game playing method can improve the social emotional abilities of group B children in KB. Raudhtul Jannah.

Abstract

Nursing students learn English language as specific purposes (ESP). They should be able to learn do communication in English to be a professional nurse. However, learning English was not an easy game to do. There will be some difficulties and adjustment along the learning process. Thus, the research is aimed at. A descriptive qualitative methodology as the foundation to investigate the obstacles in the learning process among Indonesian EFL nursing students and to examine the nursing students’ expectation in English learning process. Open-ended questionnaire and semi-structured interview would be the instruments to gain support some information. About 24 respondents and 3 of representatives of 7th semester nursing students would be the respondents. The result showed that besides grammar, structure, and tenses application, four skills implementation, lecturer’s effects, and institution’s regulations (curriculum management distribution, time schedule management, connection problem between staffs authority and lecturer) would be the major obstacles. Meanwhile, better communication among nursing institute stakeholders about schedule, time management, curriculum and modifying classroom activities could be the better expectation emerged to reduce the EFL nursing students’ obstacles. This research concluded that adjusting the regulation for the English subject curriculum and altering nursing students to encourage and motivate themselves to learn about English could change the outcome and situation to build pedagogical implication and to plan more comprehensive English learning activities.
