Abstract

Kabupaten Muna memiliki potensi besar dalam peternakan sapi bali, namun menghadapi banyak tantangan seperti keterbatasan modal, rendahnya pengetahuan peternak, akses pasar yang terbatas, dan kurangnya dukungan pemerintah, sehingga usaha ini belum berhasil optimal. Penelitian yang menggunakan metode classified random sampling menunjukkan bahwa 55,56% peternak tergolong "kurang berhasil," dan 44,44% "tidak berhasil," dengan rata-rata keberhasilan sebesar 53,02% dari skor maksimal. Faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi keberhasilan meliputi pertambahan bobot badan sapi, pendapatan, jumlah ternak, masalah kesehatan, permodalan, pemasaran, dan penerapan teknologi. Sebaliknya, keberhasilan peternak yang dicapai yaitu melalui pengetahuan pengelolaan kandang dan penurunan persentase kematian sapi.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi keanekaragaman jenis rumput, legume, dan rumba di area persawahan serta perkebunan pisang di Kelurahan Baruga, Kota Kendari, dengan menggunakan teknologi GIS. Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif berdasarkan jumlah spesies, frekuensi, dominansi, indeks keanekaragaman, dan komposisi botani. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa di area persawahan, rumput yang dominan adalah Digitaria ciliaris Retz (0,15%), sedangkan di perkebunan pisang Brachiaria (0,26%) lebih mendominasi. Jenis legume utama di sawah adalah Ilysanthes (0,38%), sementara di perkebunan pisang adalah Rungia Pectinata (0,50%). Untuk kategori rumba, Phyllantus minuri (0,28%) mendominasi di sawah, sedangkan Orlandia costata (0,24%) lebih banyak ditemukan di perkebunan pisang. Komposisi botani yang diperoleh menunjukkan kualitas padang penggembalaan, yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber hijauan pakan ternak. Pemanfaatan teknologi GIS membantu peternak dalam mengidentifikasi dan mengelola hijauan secara lebih efektif, sehingga dapat mendukung ketersediaan pakan untuk ternak ruminansia.

Abstract

Landono District is a fertile area with significant potential for agricultural development, including the cultivation of various types of vegetables. The variety of vegetable crops available allows farmers the flexibility to choose the type best suited to their land conditions, resource availability, and market opportunities. However, success in vegetable cultivation depends not only on agronomic aspects but also greatly on the farmer's ability to effectively manage their farming activities, particularly financial management. This study aims to analyze the feasibility of vegetable cultivation carried out by 27 farmers in Landono District. The vegetable farming sector plays a vital role in the economy, but farmers' success depends heavily on efficient business management and a thorough understanding of financial aspects. The data used in this study include detailed production costs (fixed and variable costs) and sales revenues for each farmer. The methodology employed includes descriptive analysis to outline the cost structure, revenue, and profit, as well as a financial feasibility analysis using the R/C (Revenue over Cost) ratio and Break Event Point (BEP). The results indicate that the average production cost structure is dominated by variable costs, particularly for fertilizer, pesticides, and labor. The average net income earned by farmers varies but generally indicates profitability. A feasibility analysis using the R/C ratio indicates that cultivating vegetable crops, including tomatoes, chilies, bitter melon, cucumbers, watermelons, and long beans, in Landono District is feasible with a ratio above 1. Meanwhile, the BEP calculation provides an overview of the minimum production level that must be achieved to cover all costs. These findings provide a basis for farmers to improve business efficiency and for policymakers to design more targeted support programs.

Abstract

Jembrana disease is one of the important infectious diseases affecting bali cattle and may cause economic losses for farmers due to decreased productivity, treatment costs, and livestock mortality. Farmers’ limited knowledge of clinical symptoms, transmission routes, risk factors, and preventive measures remains one of the challenges in controlling this disease at the smallholder farming level. This community service activity aimed to improve farmers’ knowledge and awareness of Jembrana disease in Bali cattle in Alebo Village, Konda District, South Konawe Regency. The activity was conducted on November 24, 2025, at the Alebo Village Hall and involved 40 participants, consisting of the village head, village officials, and members of the Sumber Rejeki Livestock Farmers Group. The method used in this activity included direct education, discussion, question-and-answer sessions, and evaluation of participants’ understanding. The materials delivered covered an introduction to Jembrana disease, clinical symptoms, transmission routes, risk factors, barn biosecurity, vektor control, quarantine of newly introduced cattle, case reporting, and the importance of vaccination. The results showed that participants were enthusiastic in attending the activity and gained a better understanding of Jembrana disease prevention. This educational activity encouraged farmers to independently implement preventive measures, such as maintaining barn hygiene, controlling blood-sucking insects, separating sick animals, and coordinating with animal health officers. Therefore, this educational activity plays an important role in improving farmers’ capacity to prevent the spread of Jembrana disease in Bali cattle.
