Abstract

This study aims to determine the future of the pulse counter business in the digital era. The method used is descriptive by collecting data directly in the field and analyzed. The results of the study indicate that there have been many pulse counter businesses that have replaced businesses or combined with other types of businesses. The implication of this is that the pulse counter business can no longer be relied on as a prospective business because other alternatives have emerged that can be used to buy credit either through mobile banking or e-commerce on the Internet

Abstract

Trade is one of the crucial elements in a country's economy, playing a vital role in supporting regional and national economic growth. Through trade, a region can meet its needs and distribute its production to other areas, both domestically and internationally. Southeast Sulawesi Province, as one of the regions on the island of Sulawesi, has great potential in trade, particularly in the agricultural and industrial sectors. This province has made a significant contribution to the country's foreign exchange reserves through export and import activities. This study aims to analyze the development of trade in Southeast Sulawesi Province, focusing on the export-import performance and the region's main commodities. The method used is descriptive, utilizing secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The results show that in 2024, Southeast Sulawesi experienced a trade surplus, where the value of exports exceeded the value of imports. The largest surplus was recorded in January 2024, amounting to 256.38 million US dollars. Three major commodities contribute significantly to the province's trade, namely cloves with a transaction value of IDR 480.74 billion, cocoa at IDR 248.74 billion, and cashew nuts at IDR 230.75 billion. These three commodities not only serve as flagship products for the local economy but also have a positive impact on the national economy. The findings of this study suggest that with proper management, the trade potential of Southeast Sulawesi can continue to grow, contributing even more to Indonesia's overall economy.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the elasticity of labor demand in Southeast Sulawesi Province. This type of research is quantitative research with data sources from BPS. The analysis tool used is the labor demand elasticity formula. The findings of this study are that in 2024 the elasticity of labor demand is elastic, while in 2023 and 2022 it is inelastic. The implication is that the government must be careful in determining policies related to minimum wages because it will act quickly on labor demand.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of exports on economic growth. The data used is secondary data originating from BPS Southeast Sulawesi publications for 2004-2023. This research uses quantitative research with simple regression analysis. The research results show that exports have an insignificant effect on economic growth with a negative relationship. This shows that when exports increase, economic growth tends to decrease, and conversely, when exports decrease, economic growth tends to increase. This is not in accordance with theory, but previous research in different locations found the same thing. Another factor that causes a negative relationship is the Covid19 pandemic. The implication of this research is that there must be an increase in the use value of exported goods, meaning there must be factories that process raw goods into finished goods which can provide a multiplier effect and have a positive impact on economic growth.

Abstract

This study examines environmental economic policies in Indonesia through a literature review and analysis of national regulatory documents. The main focus is on mapping environmental economic instruments regulated under Law No. 32 of 2009 on Environmental Protection and Management, Government Regulation No. 46 of 2017, PP 22/2021, the Presidential Regulation on Carbon Economic Value (NEK), and strategic planning documents such as RAN-GRK, LTS-LCCR, and RPJMN. The study employs a qualitative-descriptive approach, using thematic content analysis to identify categories of economic instruments, including market-based instruments, funding mechanisms, risk-based licensing, and incentive–disincentive schemes. Findings indicate that Indonesia has established a relatively comprehensive regulatory framework; however, its effectiveness remains limited due to regulatory inconsistencies, institutional capacity constraints, inadequate environmental data, and weak monitoring mechanisms. The study recommends enhancing inter-agency coordination, standardizing environmental data, developing digital monitoring systems, and expanding the implementation of carbon taxes and payment-for-environmental-services schemes. These findings are expected to contribute to the development of more effective environmental economic policies, supporting Indonesia’s transition toward a low-carbon economy

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of fiscal policy in promoting the adoption of green chemistry technology in Indonesia’s chemical industry sector using content analysis of 48 official secondary documents from 2018–2024. The analysed documents include regulations issued by the Minister of Finance, incentive realisation reports from the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP), investment data from BKPM, PROPER reports from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), sustainability reports of chemical companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI), and international references from UNEP, OECD, and ICCA. The findings reveal that, despite the availability of various fiscal incentives (super deduction tax of up to 300%, tax holidays, and tax allowances), only 2.8% of the total incentives absorbed by the chemical sector in 2024 were actually directed toward green chemistry activities—significantly lagging behind Germany (31%) and South Korea (28%). The low uptake is primarily caused by the deferred nature of the incentives, convoluted and time-consuming application procedures (taking more than nine months), and the lack of clear technical definitions of green chemistry in existing regulations. These results are supported by pecking order financing theory (Myers & Majluf, 1984), prospect theory (Kahneman & Tversky, 1979), and the push-pull framework of environmental innovation (Horbach et al., 2012). The study recommends a paradigm shift in fiscal policy toward upfront instruments, namely refundable tax credits of 30–40%, VAT exemptions on bio-based raw materials, and direct grants; simplification of procedures into a one-stop service with a maximum approval time of four months; and revision of Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) No. 153/2020 by including explicit technical definitions of green chemistry. These measures are expected to accelerate Indonesia’s chemical industry sector in achieving the Net Zero Emission target by 2060.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of household consumption on economic growth in Southeast Sulawesi Province. The research is quantitative in nature and employs a simple regression analysis. Household consumption serves as the independent variable (X₁), while economic growth is the dependent variable. The data used are secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Southeast Sulawesi Province for the period 2010–2024 at constant prices. The results of the study show that the t-test produced a probability value for household consumption that is smaller than the alpha value of 0.05, indicating a significant influence. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 99% demonstrates excellent model performance. Household consumption has a positive effect on real economic growth. The model estimation results indicate that an increase in household consumption will be followed by an increase in GRDP during the same period, consistent with the aggregate demand framework and the Keynesian multiplier effect.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development, challenges, and opportunities for implementing a circular economy in Indonesia. A circular economy is a sustainable development approach that emphasizes resource efficiency through the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with secondary data from government reports, academic publications, and international organizations. The analytical tool used is content analysis. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of a circular economy in Indonesia still faces various obstacles, including low public awareness, technological limitations, and regulations that are not yet optimally supportive. Nevertheless, the potential of a circular economy is enormous in supporting green economic growth and waste reduction. This study recommends the need for synergy between the government, the private sector, and the community in building a sustainable circular economy ecosystem.

Abstract

Environmental degradation and poverty remain pressing challenges in Indonesia, exacerbated by rapid economic growth and resource exploitation. The increasing demand for sustainable development has highlighted the need for alternative financial models that integrate both economic growth and environmental protection. Sharia-based green investments have emerged as a promising solution, offering a framework that aligns ethical considerations with sustainability goals. This study examines the impact of Sharia-based green investments on social welfare and environmental sustainability in Indonesia, with a focus on reducing income inequality and fostering community development. Using a mixed-method approach, including quantitative analysis of secondary data on green investment performance and qualitative interviews with key stakeholders, the research evaluates how these investments contribute to enhancing income equality, providing access to renewable energy, and promoting sustainable economic activities. Findings show that Sharia-based green investments not only improve income distribution, especially in rural areas and small businesses, but also contribute to environmental sustainability through renewable energy projects and eco-friendly infrastructure. The study also compares the environmental benefits of Sharia-based investments with conventional models, emphasizing their superior alignment with long-term sustainability goals. The research underscores the potential of Sharia-based green investments as a model for inclusive economic growth and environmental protection, supporting Indonesia’s progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
