This article explores the rationale behind the introduction of TLAOC (Teaching and Learning Activities Outside the Classroom) in Malaysia. A total of seven study participants consisting of Moral Education teachers from six schools were directly involved in this study. Qualitative methods using case study design have been used in data collection. The data obtained for this study were collected through one-to-one interviews, observation, and documents reviews. The results show that the new syllabus of Moral Education, the SCSS (Standard Curriculum for Secondary School), is not only taught in the classroom but is also integrated with teaching and learning outside of the classroom and conducted by teachers for 32 hours. The TLAOC is a new component that has been implemented among lower secondary Moral Education students beginning in 2017. Continuous improvement needs to be given attention by the Ministry of Education Malaysia, so that the effectiveness of TLAOC can be strengthened and become a meaningful teaching and learning process for students. Abstract

The constitutional design of the institution of the Constitutional Court (MK), as the guardian and the sole interpreter of the Constitution, is to ensure and guarantee the supremacy of the Constitution, constitutional compliance, and to bestow constitutional justice for citizens in the practice of Indonesian administration. However, the reality of the Indonesian state administration shows that there is still disobedience or neglect of the judicial review decision produced by the Constitutional Court. This paper aims to analyze how the Constitutional Court's decision is executed and offer the alternatives to overcome non-compliance with the decision or ensure follow-up on the Constitutional Court's decision in the judicial reviews. This research is normative legal research using a statutory approach, comparison, and conceptual approach. This study's results indicate a constitutional evil in the form of neglect or disobedience to the decision. In that context, institutional improvements that can be adopted are needed to strengthen collective adherence to the supremacy of the Constitution. The three alternatives offered by this article are the amendment of the Constitution, the granting of flexibility to the PUU of the Constitutional Court, and the establishment of a Special Directorate at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights

Abstract

In preparation for the challenges of the real world and life after school, moral judgement stands as a pivotal skill among Malaysian secondary school students. Understanding the moral motivating factors contributing to the development of moral judgement maturity is imperative. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the relationships between moral motivation components—specifically, moral emotion (guilt and shame) and moral identity—and moral judgement among Malaysian secondary school students. A sample of 393 students (170 males, 223 females; M age = 16 years) from Selangor state participated in the study. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was utilised to analyse the predictive associations between these constructs. The findings revealed positive correlations among moral emotion, moral identity, and moral judgement. Notably, both guilt and shame, as well as moral identity, were found to be significantly related to students' moral judgement maturity. These results suggest that the tendency for experiencing guilt and shame, along with a heightened moral identity, play pivotal roles in shaping the moral judgement maturity of secondary school students, potentially fostering their moral development. This study contributes valuable insights into the mechanisms linking emotions and identity to moral judgement maturity, offering significant implications for the field of moral psychology.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to contribute to contemporary debates about alternative ways of teaching Moral Education (ME) in Malaysia by including the voice of students. ME in the Malaysian setting is both complex and compulsory. The research is founded on a modified version of Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD), extended to suit the multicultural, multi-ethnic Malaysian setting, and here called the Zone of Collaborative Development (ZCD). This study uses qualitative research methodology consisting of a modified framework of participatory action research (PAR) as the methodological framework. Data was gathered for textual analysis through a modified form of participant observation, focus group transcripts, interviews, and student journals. Findings show that students were concerned about moral issues and values not covered in the current ME curriculum. The moral dilemmas that they identified were relational and context dependent. Multiple factors contributed to the problems they described.

Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has had a significant impact on the structure of the workforce, including in Indonesia. This study examines the implications of AI implementation on changes in the national workforce structure and the transformation of traditional work culture values such as family values, loyalty, and hierarchy. The method used is qualitative descriptive through a literature review of academic literature from the past five years. The study covers shifts in work roles, changes in organizational culture values, and adaptive responses from society and institutions to digitalization. The results indicate that while AI enhances efficiency and productivity, the automation of routine tasks particularly in manufacturing and customer service sectors may reduce the need for conventional labor and drive demand for new competencies such as digital literacy, data analysis, creativity, and emotional intelligence. Therefore, adaptive collaboration between government, industry, and educational institutions is needed to formulate inclusive training policies and organizational cultural adaptation strategies to support the readiness of the national workforce to face digital transformation in a fair and sustainable manner.
