Abstract

Seiring dengan perkembangan dibidang konstruksi, pengelasan merupakan bagian yang tidak terpisahkan dari peningkatan industri, Karena mempunyai peranan yang sangat penting. Hampir pada setiap pembangunan suatu konstruksi dengan logam melibatkan unsur pengelasan. Salah satu jenis pengelasan yang dipakai untuk mengelas baja karbon adalah Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW). ST 37 dan SS 400 adalah salah satu jenis baja berkarbon rendah kurang dari 0,30 %, baja karbon rendah sangat baik sekali untuk disambung dengan proses pengelasan karena mempunyai sifat las yang baik (machinability). Adapun pengelasan MIG adalah pengelasan yang menggunakan gas pelindung CO2 saat proses pengelasan berlangsung. Metode eksperimental diterapkan pada pembentukan kampuh V 60 derajat, pembentukan spesimen, proses pengelasan MIG dan pengujian tarik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kekuatan tarik sambungan las MIG pada baja karbon rendah ST 37 dan SS 400 dengan sudut kampuh V 60 derajat dan variasi arus pengelasan 60 dan 70 ampere dengan posisi pengelasan 1G. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan peningkatan pada kuat arus pengelasan berpengaruh terhadap nilai kekuatan tariknya. Nilai kekuatan tarik tertinggi terdapat pada variasi arus 70A yaitu sebesar 436,09 N/mm2. Dan nilai kekuatan tarik terendah terdapat pada variasi arus 60A yaitu sebesar 422,97 N/mm2.

Abstract

The weight of a car's parts can be reduced by using materials such as aluminum. The lower arm is the main component of the suspension system, usually found at the front of the suspension in both Macpherson and Double Wishbone systems. There are AA6061 and malleable cast iron materials, where AA6061 is made from aluminum alloy, and the malleable cast iron material is made from steel alloy. Both are different in terms of material but almost similar in terms of material properties. The research method uses FEM assisted by Solidworks software and looks at the loading, stress and strain. The results of the research were that the material from AA6061 was better but more expensive if made in smaller quantities.

Abstract

To lift a vehicle on a bike lift, a strong frame is needed. A bike lift is a tool for lifting a motorcycle and at the same time, it can be said as a work table. Most of the servicing and repair work of motorbikes is done under the hands, so to do this the mechanic has to sit or squat. By using a bike lift, the height of the motorbike can be adjusted according to the mechanical body posture, so that according to the service work can be done in a comfortable body position without having to squat for a long time. The purpose of this research is to get a strong frame, especially on pins that are exposed to loads from the frame and vehicles. This research uses the calculation of the load that occurs at each load point and calculates the shear stress that occurs at each load point and performs a tensile test on the pin material. The results of the study, the calculation of the largest shear stress, namely 13.26 N, occurred at the bottom pin position with a pin diameter of 10 mm. Meanwhile, from the results of the pin material testing, the shear stress in the safe material range is 354.24 N / mm2. So it can be concluded that the results of the calculation of shear stress that occurs on each bike lift frame pin using solid iron pipe or axles with a diameter of 16 mm and 10 mm, the largest shear stress that occurs on the pin is 13.26 N at the pin position 10 mm. Meanwhile, from the test results of the iron used for the pin, the shear stress in the safe range of the material is 354.24 N / mm 2. So it can be concluded that the use of solid steel pipe for axles with a size of 10 mm and is exposed to the largest shear stress from the frame load, namely, 13.26 N /mm2 is safe to use and strong to withstand the load given to the bike lift.

Abstract

The demand for non-OEM camshafts is increasing, but this raises concerns about material quality. This study analyses the material characteristics of AISI 8620 and grey cast iron camshafts used in 125cc automatic motorcycles. Testing was conducted using Metallography and Optical Emission Spectrometry. AISI 8620 exhibits a fine ferrite-pearlite microstructure and alloying elements such as chromium and molybdenum, which support heat treatment. Cast iron exhibits a pearlite structure with flake graphite, providing superior damping but less toughness. The results indicate that AISI 8620 is more suitable for high-load applications, while cast iron is suitable for lightweight and cost-effective applications. This study provides important insights into material selection for motorcycle camshaft manufacturing.

Abstract

Automotive vehicles have increased every year, especially motorcycles, which result in increased air pollution. The use of alternative fuel methanol is one of the solutions to control air pollution. methanol has a high oxygen content so it can improve emissions. This study aims to analyze the use of a mixture of Pertamax and methanol fuel on exhaust emissions using a 150 cc EFI gasoline engine. The percentage of methanol used in the test is 5%, 10%, and 15%. Variation of engine speed from 1000 to 3000 rpm with an interval of 1000 rpm. Measurement of exhaust emissions using a gas analyzer. The addition of methanol to Pertamax fuel reduced HC emission levels at PM15 by 34% at 3000 rpm and CO by 43% at 3000 rpm at PM15, while CO2 and O2 emission levels increased by 23% at 3000 rpm at CO2, mixing PM15 and at O2 emissions of 163% at a speed of 3000 rpm on PM5.

Abstract

The increase in the volume of vehicles resulted in a crisis of fossil fuels so there is a need for alternative fuels to replace gasoline. Butanol and Diethyl Ether (DEE) are alternative fuels that can be added to gasoline. This is because the Octane Number and high O2 levels optimize combustion in the cylinder and increase torque and power and save fuel. This study compares the addition of butanol and DEE to gasoline on torque, power, and Brake Specific Fuel Consumption (BSFC). The study used a 160cc gasoline engine with a carburetor with engine speeds of 1000, 2000, and 3000 rpm. Variation of fuel mixture 5%, 10%, and 15% on gasoline. The results showed that the DEE15 mixture increased the highest torque by 28% at 3000 rpm compared to other fuel mixtures. Engine power also increases the highest by 28% when using a mixture of DEE15 compared to other fuels. Meanwhile, BSFC experienced the highest decrease of 19% when using the DEE15 mixture compared to other mixtures.

Abstract

Badminton is a popular sport in the world, especially in countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, China and many European countries. One of the important elements in badminton is the shuttlecock, which is used as a game ball. The shape density of feather shuttlecocks or synthetic shuttlecocks also affects the movement of the shuttlecock and produces different drag force values. Several methods can be used to test the balance of a shuttlecock, such as a method of throwing it vertically, the method of hitting it manually or using a throwing machine. Both methods show the movement of the shuttlecock directly so that it can be seen whether its movement is balanced or unbalanced, but this method requires a fairly large area. A simpler method is to use a shuttlecock balancing tester (SBT), but the current equipment is noisy and has quite large dimensions so it is not practical. This research aims to develop an existing SBT with less noise, smaller sizes, and more practicality by using a 120 mm cooling fan. The study was carried out to determine the required air flow speed and the correct size of the honeycomb hole. The results of the research show that the airflow speed required in the SBT so that the shuttlecock lifts per floats and rotates stably is 5.0 m/s using a honeycomb hole with a diameter of 6 mm and 4.6 m/s using a honeycomb hole with a diameter of 8 mm . Using 8 mm honeycomb produces air flow with a greater lifting force than using 6 mm honeycomb.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of setting the spacing of the slits and variations in the rotation of the shaft on the quality of the peeling on the coffee bean skin peeler machine and to determine the size of the spacing of the slits and the proper rotation of the shaft, to obtain a good quality of stripping on the coffee bean skin peeler machine. This study uses an experimental method, by comparing the distance of the peeler gap, there are 2 mm, 4 mm, and 6 mm at the shaft rotation speed of 365 rpm, 576 rpm, and 697 rpm on the peeling quality of the coffee bean skin peeler machine. The stripping quality at each peeler gap and shaft rotation speed will be analyzed and determined based on the quality category of the coffee beans that have been processed. The results showed that the percentage of stripping quality at a gap of 2 mm and a shaft rotation speed of 365 rpm reached 86%, a gap of 4 mm reached 70%, and at a gap of 6 mm it reached 55%. At a distance of 2 mm stripping gap and shaft rotation speed of 576 rpm it reaches 82%, 4 mm gap distance reaches 67%, and at 6 mm gap distance, it reaches 49%. At a distance of 2 mm stripping gap and 697 rpm shaft rotation speed reaches 80%, 4 mm gap distance reaches 59%, and at 6 mm gap distance reaches 40%. The exact distance of the stripper gap and the rotation of the shaft is obtained at the distance of the stripping gap of 2 mm and the shaft rotation speed of 365 rpm. At this distance, the percentage of good quality exfoliating coffee beans reached 86%, partially peeled 10%, and not peeled 4%.

Abstract

Vocational High School (SMK) graduates are the biggest contributor to the unemployment rate. The Tegal Indonesia Bintang Manufaktur Job Training Institute helps increase the knowledge and skills of participants who incidentally are class XII SMK. Class XII who graduate in 2023 will certainly have low knowledge and competence because of the learning method used online (Covid-19 pandemic policy). The community service program (PKM) aims to strengthen basic competence, especially measuring. The method used is Training which is held for three days (20-22 March 2023). The results of PKM presented increase in measuring competency of 95.38% from 32 participants. Through the free test conducted at the beginning and the Post test at the end of the activity, measuring competence has been optimal as reflected in the practical implementation of Quality control
