Abstract

Geoscience is a study of earth, it is easy to find around everyday student’s ;ife. The aim of this research is to develop Geoscience Students Worksheets based on scientific work to enhance students scientific work and conceptual mastery also to test the validity of the Geoscience Students Wroksheets through experts appraisal and students response. This reasearch is R & D research using 4D model until Develop stage. Data collection techniques including survey and interview technique. The question in the questionnaire consists on closed ended and open ended, the close ended question it to measure the validity and students response while open ended question for obtaining suggestions from all experts and students. Moreover, interview conducted during preliminary study. There are two validators in this research, they are content and learning media expert with Science Education educational background. In addition, ten students respondents in this research are already took the Geoscience Course last year. Quantitative data was analyzed by comparing the score with certain criteria and qualitative data was analyzed with finding common topics. Validation result and students respon results show that Geoscience Students Worksheets is very valid with score from content expert, learning media expert, and students consecutively  90,01%, 85,70%, and 89,4%.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model Engineering Design Process (EDP) berbasis STEM terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa SMP. Metode penelitian yang digunakan merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode Quasi Experimental Design. Desain penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan Posttest Only Group Design, dimana kelas eksperimen mendapat perlakuan model EDP berbasis STEM dan kelas kontrol mendapat perlakuan model Kontekstual. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 4 Surakarta tahun ajaran 2022/2023 berjumlah total sembilan kelas. Sampel penelitian diambil menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling dan didapatkan dua kelas sampel. Data utama penelitian berupa nilai posttest keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa yang dianalisis menggunakan uji-t Mann Whitney. Hasil uji hipotesis nilai posttest memiliki nilai signifikansi < 0,05 sebesar 0,027 yang menunjukkan bahwa secara signifikan, terdapat pengaruh penerapan model Engineering Design Process (EDP) berbasis STEM terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa SMP.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran creative problem solving berbasis STEM terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada pembelajaran IPA. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi experimental design dengan desain posttest-only control group design. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMP Negeri 18 Surakarta menggunakan teknik probability sampling dengan jenis teknik cluster random sampling. Sampel yang didapatkan yaitu sebanyak dua kelas dengan jumlah 46 siswa yang terbagi atas kelas eksperimen dan kontrol. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan meliputi tes (soal berpikir kritis) dan observasi (lembar observasi keterlaksanaan sintaks). Teknik validitas yang digunakan meliputi validitas isi terhadap instrumen penelitian dan pembelajaran dengan skala likert. Uji validitas soal uraian berpikir kritis menggunakan rumus product moment dan uji reliabilitas menggunakan rumus alpha cronbach yang terdapat pada SPSS versi 22. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan rubrik penskoran lembar observasi serta uji prasyarat dan hipotesis. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu  model pembelajaran creative problem solving berbasis STEM berpengaruh positif terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dengan hasil uji t pihak kanan thitung 3,408 > ttabel 1,671. Penelitian ini dapat digunakan oleh guru sebagai referensi model pembelajaran yang dapat mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada pembelajaran IPA khususnya pada aspek analyze.

Abstract

Penyusunan instrumen penilaian dan pengembangan media pembelajaran IPA Berbasis Etno-STEM bagi guru sangat penting dilakukan. Oleh karena itu, dilakukan pengabdian masyarakat pada musyawarah guru mata pelajaran (MGMP) IPA Kabupaten karanganyar yang bertujuan untuk penyusunan Instrumen Penilaian dan Pengembangan Media Pembelajaran IPA Berbasis Etno-STEM bagi guru MGMP IPA. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan dalam beberapa tahapan, yaitu 1) Koordinasi dengan semua pihak terkait; 2) Focus group discussion pada beberapa masalah yang terjadi, solusi dan rencana tindak lanjutnya. Hasil  yang diperoleh  dari  pengolahan  data  keseluruhan  indikator  adalah  peserta  setuju bahwa  pelaksanaan pelatihan  telah  berjalan  dengan  baik,  dimana  sebagian besar peserta berpandangan bahwa pelaksanaan pelatihan telah memberikan manfaat  yang  mendalam dan sangat membantu dalam peningkatan kualitas diri peserta.

Abstract

The integration of local wisdom into science learning faces challenges due to the focus on theoretical understanding rather than real-world applications. Teachers often overlook the potential of local wisdom in science education, and the process of incorporating cultural phenomena as scientific learning topics is perceived as complex. This study aims to identify the scientific knowledge embedded in the "Patehan" tradition of the Yogyakarta Palace. The research follows a qualitative ethnographic approach with a sample of five respondents selected via purposive sampling from the Patehan servants. Data collection involved interviews, observations, and documentation, with internal validation for data accuracy. Data analysis was carried out interactively through three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the "Patehan" tradition contains scientific knowledge across four main aspects: biology, physics, chemistry, and earth and space sciences. These findings highlight the potential of local wisdom, such as the "Patehan" tradition, to enhance students' understanding of science concepts

Abstract

The low scientific literacy of students needs to be improved through the teaching materials used in learning. Teaching materials can be combined with various learning models including Ethno-STEM. The research aims to develop and test the feasibility of a module on vibrations and waves material in empowering science literacy ability of class VII students. The type of research carried out is development research using the 4D method including the define, design and develop stages. In this article, the research stage is written only up to the development stage. In the define stage, an analysis of gaps occurring in the field is carried out to define what is needed in the development process. In the design stage, the researcher prepares a product design according to the needs that have been summarized in the define stage. In the development stage, researchers began to develop modules according to needs and then carried out feasibility tests. Validation was carried out on aspects of material, media, language and learning. The overall module validation results obtained were 0.91 with valid criteria. Therefore, it can be concluded that the vibrations and waves module is effective to improve students' science literacy ability

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of learning video usage to support online learning in basic chemistry course during the COVID-19 pandemic. The subjects in this study were 60 students from the 1st semester of the FKIP UNS Undergraduate Science Education Study Program who took basic chemistry course. This research was conducted in the odd semester of the 2020 or 2021 academic year. This research was conducted online and utilized the SPADA platform for viewing learning video. The data collection technique used a questionnaire. The use of questionnaires aims to obtain an overview of the effectiveness of learning video. Data analysis used quantitative descriptive with a score for each question, from 1 to 5. The results showed that the use of learning video during the COVID-19 pandemic could support online learning, namely obtaining an effectiveness percentage of 84% with a very good category. Therefore, learning video are effective in helping students understand the concepts that are being studied and motivating students to study online.
