Abstract

Geoscience is a study of earth, it is easy to find around everyday student’s ;ife. The aim of this research is to develop Geoscience Students Worksheets based on scientific work to enhance students scientific work and conceptual mastery also to test the validity of the Geoscience Students Wroksheets through experts appraisal and students response. This reasearch is R & D research using 4D model until Develop stage. Data collection techniques including survey and interview technique. The question in the questionnaire consists on closed ended and open ended, the close ended question it to measure the validity and students response while open ended question for obtaining suggestions from all experts and students. Moreover, interview conducted during preliminary study. There are two validators in this research, they are content and learning media expert with Science Education educational background. In addition, ten students respondents in this research are already took the Geoscience Course last year. Quantitative data was analyzed by comparing the score with certain criteria and qualitative data was analyzed with finding common topics. Validation result and students respon results show that Geoscience Students Worksheets is very valid with score from content expert, learning media expert, and students consecutively  90,01%, 85,70%, and 89,4%.

Abstract

Penyusunan instrumen penilaian dan pengembangan media pembelajaran IPA Berbasis Etno-STEM bagi guru sangat penting dilakukan. Oleh karena itu, dilakukan pengabdian masyarakat pada musyawarah guru mata pelajaran (MGMP) IPA Kabupaten karanganyar yang bertujuan untuk penyusunan Instrumen Penilaian dan Pengembangan Media Pembelajaran IPA Berbasis Etno-STEM bagi guru MGMP IPA. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan dalam beberapa tahapan, yaitu 1) Koordinasi dengan semua pihak terkait; 2) Focus group discussion pada beberapa masalah yang terjadi, solusi dan rencana tindak lanjutnya. Hasil  yang diperoleh  dari  pengolahan  data  keseluruhan  indikator  adalah  peserta  setuju bahwa  pelaksanaan pelatihan  telah  berjalan  dengan  baik,  dimana  sebagian besar peserta berpandangan bahwa pelaksanaan pelatihan telah memberikan manfaat  yang  mendalam dan sangat membantu dalam peningkatan kualitas diri peserta.

Abstract

The integration of local wisdom into science learning faces challenges due to the focus on theoretical understanding rather than real-world applications. Teachers often overlook the potential of local wisdom in science education, and the process of incorporating cultural phenomena as scientific learning topics is perceived as complex. This study aims to identify the scientific knowledge embedded in the "Patehan" tradition of the Yogyakarta Palace. The research follows a qualitative ethnographic approach with a sample of five respondents selected via purposive sampling from the Patehan servants. Data collection involved interviews, observations, and documentation, with internal validation for data accuracy. Data analysis was carried out interactively through three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the "Patehan" tradition contains scientific knowledge across four main aspects: biology, physics, chemistry, and earth and space sciences. These findings highlight the potential of local wisdom, such as the "Patehan" tradition, to enhance students' understanding of science concepts

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of learning video usage to support online learning in basic chemistry course during the COVID-19 pandemic. The subjects in this study were 60 students from the 1st semester of the FKIP UNS Undergraduate Science Education Study Program who took basic chemistry course. This research was conducted in the odd semester of the 2020 or 2021 academic year. This research was conducted online and utilized the SPADA platform for viewing learning video. The data collection technique used a questionnaire. The use of questionnaires aims to obtain an overview of the effectiveness of learning video. Data analysis used quantitative descriptive with a score for each question, from 1 to 5. The results showed that the use of learning video during the COVID-19 pandemic could support online learning, namely obtaining an effectiveness percentage of 84% with a very good category. Therefore, learning video are effective in helping students understand the concepts that are being studied and motivating students to study online.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model Engineering Design Process (EDP) berbasis STEM terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa SMP. Metode penelitian yang digunakan merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode Quasi Experimental Design. Desain penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan Posttest Only Group Design, dimana kelas eksperimen mendapat perlakuan model EDP berbasis STEM dan kelas kontrol mendapat perlakuan model Kontekstual. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 4 Surakarta tahun ajaran 2022/2023 berjumlah total sembilan kelas. Sampel penelitian diambil menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling dan didapatkan dua kelas sampel. Data utama penelitian berupa nilai posttest keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa yang dianalisis menggunakan uji-t Mann Whitney. Hasil uji hipotesis nilai posttest memiliki nilai signifikansi < 0,05 sebesar 0,027 yang menunjukkan bahwa secara signifikan, terdapat pengaruh penerapan model Engineering Design Process (EDP) berbasis STEM terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa SMP.This study aims to find the impact of the STEM-based Engineering Design Process (EDP) model on JHS students' critical thinking skills. This study used a quantitative research with the Quasi Experimental Design method. The design of this study used the Posttest Only Group Design, with the experimental class receiving STEM-based EDP model treatment and the control class receiving contextual model treatment. The study population using class VIII students of JHS 4 Surakarta 2022/2023, which consisted of nine classes. The study sample using two classes which selected using cluster random sampling technique. The main research data is in the form of posttest scores of students' critical thinking skills which are analyzed using the Mann Whitney t-test. The results of hypothesis test have a significanceThe results of hypothesis test have a significance  value of less than 0.05 which indicates that there is an impact of the STEM-based EDP model on the critical thinking skills of JHS student.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan apakah ada atau tidak pengaruh media interaktif terhadap minat belajar kognitif siswa di kelas VII SMP Negeri 2 Surakarta terhadap materi ekologi dan keanekaragaman hayati. Penelitian kuantitatif ini dirancang sebagai eksperimen semu. Seluruh siswa kelas VII di SMP N 22 Surakarta pada tahun akademik 2023/2024 adalah subjek penelitian. Cluster random sampling adalah metode pengambilan sampel yang digunakan. Sample penelitian terdiri dari dua kelas: kelas VII A memiliki 26 siswa dan kelas VII B memiliki 25 siswa. Kelas VII A menerima pembelajaran konvensional, sedangkan kelas VII B menerima perlakuan pembelajaran multimedia interaktif. Pretest dan posttest pada kelas kontrol dan eksperimen digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data. Uji Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) dengan taraf signifikansi 5% digunakan untuk menganalisis data. Hasil uji hipotesis dengan SPSS 25 menunjukkan bahwa nilai signifikansi 0.001 < 0.05, yang menunjukkan bahwa H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima. Ada kemungkinan bahwa multimedia interaktif dapat memengaruhi minat siswa dalam belajar kognitif.The aim of this study is to determine whether or not interactive media influences on the cognitive learning interests of students in grade VII of the 2nd Surakarta State High School on ecology and biodiversity. This quantitative research is designed as an experiment. All of the students of the 7th grade at N 22 Surakarta High School in the academic year 2023/2024 are research subjects. Cluster random sampling is a sample-taking method used. The research sample consists of two classes: class VII A had 26 students and class VII B had 25 students. Class VII A accepted conventional learning, while grade VII B received interactive multimedia learning treatment. Pretests and posttests on control classes and experiments are used to gather data. The Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) test with a 5% degree of significance is used to analyze data. The test results of the hypothesis with SPSS 25 showed that the significance value was 0.001 < 0.05, indicating that H0 was rejected and H1 accepted. There is a possibility that interactive multimedia can affect student interest in cognitive learning.
