Abstract

Background: Cesarean section is a surgical procedure involving incisions in the abdomen and uterus to deliver a baby. Breastfeeding obstacles that occur in post-section cesarean mothers are caused by surgical pain that affects the mother's comfort and can inhibit the pituitary glandula nerves that produce the hormone oxytocin, which plays a role in the breastfeeding process. Breast care refers to interventions aimed at facilitating breast milk production. These interventions can be beneficial both prenatally and postnatally. Objective: This study aims to describe the impact of breast care on breast milk flow in mothers who have undergone cesarean section at Ir. Soekarno Hospital, Sukoharjo District. Method: A descriptive case study approach was employed, involving two respondents. Pre-test and post-test assessments were conducted using an observation sheet to evaluate breast milk flow based on 10 specific indicators. Results: Both respondents exhibited suboptimal breast milk flow before breast care interventions. Following the interventions, both respondents demonstrated significant improvements, achieving optimal breast milk flow. Conclusion: The findings indicate a notable enhancement in breast milk flow among the respondents after receiving breast care, suggesting the efficacy of such interventions in supporting lactation.

Abstract

Background: Caesarean Section (CS) is an action to cut the continuity or connection of tissue with an incision to remove the baby and leave a scar from the incision. Anxiety experienced by post-cesarean mothers is usually related to new surgical wounds obtained in the patient's abdomen, what to do, and limited body movements due to the surgical wounds felt by the patient; these things can cause anxiety in caesarean patients. The proper management to reduce post-CS maternal anxiety is through education. Health education can increase maternal knowledge so mothers are more confident and ready to heal wounds. Objective: To determine the results of the implementation of wound care education on anxiety in post-cesarean mothers at Ir. Soekarno Hospital, Sukoharjo Regency. Method: An observational descriptive study with a case study method conducted on two post-cesarean maternal respondents who underwent wound care education to reduce anxiety, which was carried out in the first 12-24 hours post-cesarean until the 2nd day, with 10-15 minutes of assistance. Results: The anxiety scores of both respondents on the first day were at moderate anxiety, and on the second day, after the implementation of education, the anxiety score became mild anxiety. Conclusion: There was a decrease in anxiety after the implementation of wound care education.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Cesarean section is a surgical procedure to deliver a baby by opening the maternal abdominal and uterine walls. One common problem following CS is difficulty in breastfeeding, which can interfere with breast milk stimulation. Proper breastfeeding technique, involving correct positioning of the mother and infant, is essential for successful breastfeeding. Objective: To determine the effect of breastfeeding technique education on breastfeeding effectiveness among post-CS mothers at Ir. Soekarno Regional Hospital, Sukoharjo Regency. Methods: The research design used is a descriptive case study. Results: From the results of the application of breastfeeding technique education for 2 days, it was shown that there was an increase in breastfeeding effectiveness. In Mrs. N, the effectiveness of breastfeeding with a value of 4 (effective enough breastfeeding) increased to a value of 8 (effective breastfeeding was good), while in Mrs. S the effectiveness of breastfeeding with a value of 5 (effectiveness of adequate breastfeeding) increased to a value of 9 (effective breastfeeding was good). Conclusion: There was an increase in breastfeeding effectiveness in mothers after applying breastfeeding education techniques for 2 days.

Abstract

In the fluid restriction program, patients with chronic renal failure will cause thirst. The patient controls this thirst by drinking. As a result, if it is not controlled, it can increase the accumulation of fluids which can cause edema and shortness of breath. Thirst needs to be controlled so that patients can adhere to fluid restriction programs and reduce the risk of complications. One of the ways used to overcome thirst is by gargling boiled water. This case study aims to obtain an overview and results of the application of gargling with boiled water to reduce thirst in CRF patients who are undergoing hemodialysis. The research method used a case study with a nursing care approach in the application of evidence-based nursing practice to one managed patient who was given an intervention by gargling boiled water for three meetings. The application of gargling with boiled water can reduce the level of thirst in chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis from moderate thirst (4-6) to mild thirst (1-3), with an average length of time to hold thirst for 45 minutes.
