Abstract

Abstract: This study discusses strategies to strengthen the global pandemic COVID-19 mitigation in Madura through the utilization of the local wisdom values ​​of pesantren. There are three focus issues raised in this study, namely; COVID-19, the value of local wisdom, and finally pesantren. Using this type of qualitative research based on an analysis of sociological theory, this study found that the pesantren's social position as one of Madura's local wisdom values ​​could actually be used as a strategy to strengthen the COVID-19 transmission and transmission control activities in Madura. The strengths and advantages of pesantren in strengthening COVID-19 mitigation in Madura can be seen from two things; First, pesantren is a popular traditional Islamic institution that is synonymous with magical power and charismatic clerical figures. With this, pesantren can be used as instruments to educate the public about the importance of complying with the health protocol regulations issued by the government; Secondly, pesantren have large and broad social capital, where the social capital is centered on three networks of power such as the kyai, santri, and aumni. In this regard, both the kyai, santri, and alumni, all three can be used to strengthen the COVID-19 control agenda in Madura, specifically to target some areas which have not been adequately addressed by formal policies. The involvement of pesantren and all their social networks such as kyai, santri, and alumni, besides being able to strengthen the COVID-19 mitigation agenda, can also realize an integral role control model by combining two approaches at once, namely structural approaches and value-based approaches of local wisdom.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the understanding and skills of the students of Rumah Tahsin An Nahl in presenting down-to-earth and impactful preaching in the wider community. The implementation method in this community service activity uses the PAR (Participatory Action Research) method, which actively involves all relevant parties or stakeholders to study ongoing actions to make better changes. This activity was carried out at the Rumah Tahsin An Nahl in RT 01, RW 02, Pangloros, Tlanakan, Pamekasan. There were 25 participants on July 30, 2024. The results of the service showed a significant increase in the students' understanding and interest in preaching based on prophetic communication, with understanding increasing from 45% before the program to 84% afterward, and interest increasing from 38% to 81%. This means that this program has succeeded in strengthening the students' understanding and motivation in applying prophetic communication in their preaching. Recommendations for further steps include the development of student learning materials, further training, and collaboration with other institutions to expand the reach of the Rumah Tahsain An Nahl students' preaching. Similar activities need to be continued to improve the communication skills of future preachers.

Abstract

This article examines the complex relationship between da'wah and politics in Madura, especially in the context of the politicized phenomenon of da'wah. The main focus is on discourse analysis of the RadarMadura.id news regarding the controversy over Gus Miftah distributing money in Pamekasan: how the media constructs the story through word choice and grammar to build a narrative related to this issue. This research is a qualitative study that uses discourse analysis as part of the interpretive method. The object of this research is news on RadarMadura.id with the title "Bawaslu Pamekasan Akan Panggil Gus Miftah terkait Aksi Bagi-Bagi Uang" published on January 5, 2024. The news was analysed using the discourse analysis model of Roger Fowler et al which focuses on the analysis of word elements and grammar. The research results show that news reports depict this action as part of the alms routine. The media limits its views by focusing on responding to viral videos and relying on secondary sources to confirm information, rather than conducting in-depth investigations. There is also a discourse battle between the public who supports the idea of money politics and the media which highlights clarification and alms routines. Linguistically, RadarMadura.id uses active sentences to describe events, however, the use of nominalization may influence the interpretation of the actors involved. That is, this analysis shows how the media uses language to build narratives and influence public perceptions, even though they tend to be neutral in their presentation of controversial issues.
