Abstract

Cavitation is a detrimental phenomenon to ship operations because it causes many losses. It caused some effects i.e decreased propeller efficiency, damaged propeller material, lower ship speed, vibration, and extreme noises. In that regard, this research conducts cavitation analysis on controllable pitch propeller (CPP) by varying number of blade i.e. 3, 4 and 5 blades; diameter i.e. 30, 40 cm and 50 cm; also pitch i.e 0.4, 0.6 and 0.8.  The research method is carried out by the author in this study by conducting a simulation method based on the CFD approach. The simulation process consists of 3 stage-post processor, solver manager, and post-processor. From the simulation based on the CFD approach result, it was found that propeller rotation has an effect on the pressure ratio value. As the propeller rotation increase, the value of the pressure ratio will increase as well. The value of the pressure ratio in propeller design affects the cavitation area that occurs in the propeller. The percentage of the cavitation area on the propeller has an increasing tendency with the number of blades, rotation, and pitch. On the propeller with diameter 300 mm, 3 blades, pitch 0.8 at rotation 125 rpm no indication of cavitation, then it increases to 1.41% at rotation 175 rpm and keeps getting higher at rotation 225 to be 4.22% from total propeller expanding area. Whereas at rotation 225 rpm and pitch 0.4 is 3.38 %, then it becomes 3.85 % at pitch 0.6, which is getting bigger at pitch 0.8 that is 4.22 %.

Abstract

Many factors are deemed influencing team or group performance. This research identifies influence of variables of leadership, followership and loyalty on team performance.  This research is quantitative research on path analysis by using SPSS program. The result is loyalty and followers don’t have direct positive effect on team performance, but through leadership variable as intervening variable. Leadership variable has direct positive effect on team performance and loyalty, and followership variable has direct positive effect on leadership variable.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to reveal justifications the students made when they cheated on their academic tasks as well as the analysis in the aspects of educational psychology and collectivism culture on those justifications. The research method is qualitative interpretive on quantitative data obtained through a written survey. From the research results, various motives or reasons as justifications for the students to cheat can be grouped into two categories, namely the "lazy" motive which includes the "not learning" and "in a tight spot" motives; and the “out of ideas” motive which includes “lack of confidence”, “fear of bad grades”, “needs instant grades”, and “forgetting the material being studied”. The two categories can be seen from the psychological point of view, especially educational psychology. The first category is motivated by, among others, a lack of self-concept and lack of self-determination, while the second category is due to a lack of self-efficacy. Almost all types of cheating motives refer to internal justifications. Internal justification is the hallmark of an interdependent collectivism culture. Four aspects of collectivism culture that can be used to analyse this internal justification are “harmony should always be maintained”, “relationship prevails over task”, "We–consciousness”, and “transgression of norms leads to shame feelings”.Keywords: academic cheating, internal justification, educational psychology, collectivism culture

Abstract

This study aims to analyze a movie script from the Netflix series entitled I am Not Okay With This written by Jonathan Entwistle and Christy Hall which was adapted from a comic book by Charles Forsman with the same title. This study focuses on discussing the psychological aspects experienced by Sydney Novak as the main character. This study uses a qualitative approach and is presented with a descriptive method. The data collection techniques used include literature review, observation, and note-taking method. The object of the research used is the I am Not Okay With This movie script through an intrinsic approach in the form of characterization, plot, and setting, then linking it with an extrinsic approach using Sigmund Freud's theory of anxiety, life and death instinct and the theory of psychotic depression. This study is also supported by reviewing books, journals, and other research sources from the internet as secondary data references. The results obtained from this study are that it is known that the supernatural powers experienced by Syd are a manifestation of the anxiety she has suffered from the grief since the death of her father. This anxiety is also related to the appearance of hallucinations that lead to the death instinct in Syd’s actions and behaviors.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze The Power of the Dog (2021) movie script. This research uses a qualitative method using theory of toxic masculinity from Terry A. Kupers to analyze the characters in this movie script by Jane Campion. The aim of this research is to answer two problems of the studies: 1) How is toxic masculinity reflected in The Power of the Dog movie script? 2) How are the impacts of toxic masculinity reflected in The Power of the Dog movie script? The results of this study found four traits of Toxic Masculinity in the characters, there are: 1) Domination; dominate and control over others, 2) Misogyny; hatred and disdain a woman, 3) Homophobia; insult a feminine guy and reject anything feminine, 4) Violence; slap animals, threaten, and even murder. Furthermore, it is also found the impacts of toxic masculinity in the character in The Power of the Dog (2021) movie script, including ;1) Depression, loneliness and isolation, 2) Denial, displacement, reaction formation as defense mechanisms. Based on this research, the movie script of The Power of the Dog represents toxic masculinity through the characters and represents its impacts of toxic masculinity.

Abstract

Adaptation studies are interesting in discussing literary works and films. It is because adapting a scholarly work, like a novel or play, for the big screen is extremely difficult and requires a high level of ability. One of the literary works adapted into a film is the novel Twilight, by Stephanie Meyer. In the adaptation of the novel to the Twilight film, there are many reductions of the story, and additional scenes that are not in the novel. By using the theories of adaptation, feminism, and masculinity, this study analyzes the changes in the theme of feminism in the novel to masculinity in the film, caused by differences in ideas between the novelist and the filmmaker. By applying the comparative method, this study aims to compare the changes in the notion of ​​feminism in the Twilight novel with the idea of ​​masculinity in its film adaptation, and to reveal the motives behind it. The analysis shows that the Twilight film adaptation strategically shifts the feminist themes in the novel version by centering on traditional masculinity, a deliberate choice to appeal to its target audience, particularly teenage girls.
