Abstract

The penetration of technological advancements into higher education institutions is a multifaceted phenomenon influenced by diverse considerations. This paper breaks new ground by conducting a content-based bibliometric analysis of technology integration within Philippine Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). Employing a systematic five-step approach, the study meticulously navigates the bibliometric landscape, encompassing database identification, scope determination, article refinement, compilation, and analysis. A corpus of 61 articles sourced from the Google Scholar database spanning the period from 2012 to 2022 constitutes the focal point of bibliometric scrutiny. Delving into the thematic analysis, the study unveils a rich tapestry of insights encapsulated in five overarching themes: Technology, Industrial Revolution 4.0, and Education 4.0; Higher Education and Digital Technology; Educational Philosophies in the New Normal Higher Education Setting; Transformation of Technology Education in Higher Education and the Academics; and Higher Education, Technology, and the Learners. The findings underscore the imperative of aligning educational paradigms with the imperatives of Industrial Revolution 4.0, offering a blueprint for navigating the new normal in higher education. By elucidating the intricate interplay between technology and pedagogy, this research not only enriches scholarly discourse but also provides practical insights for HEIs seeking to embrace technological innovation in fostering academic excellence and resilience amidst evolving educational landscapes.

Abstract

This study is qualitative descriptive research that aims to describe eighth-grade students’ numeracy skills in solving a PISA 2022 quantity content problem. This focus is important because PISA-type tasks require reasoning, quantitative interpretation, and decision-making skills that are essential for students’ mathematical literacy in real-life situations. Thirty-two eighth-grade students of a junior high school in Jambi, Indonesia, participated in this study. Data were collected through a written test adapted from the PISA 2022 released items and follow-up interviews with selected students. The results showed that most students demonstrated low numeracy performance, particularly in interpreting information, performing multi-step calculations, and drawing correct conclusions. Only a small number of students were able to meet the expected indicators of numeracy skills. These findings indicate that students have not yet fully met the cognitive demands of PISA quantity tasks. The results highlight the need for instruction that provides more opportunities for students to practice contextual quantitative reasoning. For classroom practice, teachers are encouraged to incorporate multi-step contextual tasks that gradually strengthen students’ interpretation, strategy selection, and reasoning abilities. The findings also serve as a basis for further research on developing PISA-type jumping tasks adapted to relevant local contexts to support students’ numeracy skills.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the strategic management of the student organization in enhancing discipline at Al-Kautsar Integrated Islamic Boarding School, Tebo Regency, Jambi Province. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive analytical approach, involving in-depth interviews with the organization’s supervisor, the chairman, and documentation related to the organization’s programs. The results indicate that the strategic management of the student organization operates effectively through four main processes: planning, organizing, implementation, and supervision. Planning includes the formulation of vision and mission, disciplinary regulations, sanction guidelines, and a structured activity schedule. Organizing involves establishing the organizational structure, assigning tasks based on students’ interests and competencies, and direct guidance from the organization supervisor. Implementation focuses on habituating disciplined behavior through role modeling, regular briefings, habituation and assignment, as well as motivation provision. Supervision is conducted through direct and indirect monitoring, routine weekly and monthly evaluations, and accountability reporting at the end of the term. The implications of this study suggest that the application of strategic management can consistently improve student discipline, create an orderly and conducive pesantren environment, and serve as a model for student organization governance implementation in other pesantrens across Indonesia.
