Abstract

The impact of low birth and death rates in Japan has resulted in an increase in the number of elderly Japanese people. And gradually Japan has become short of productive and professional workers in various fields. As a result of this condition. The Japanese government has begun to open up quite wide opportunities for other countries for foreign workers to enter and work in Japan. One way the Japanese government has done this is by opening cooperation with other countries, for example with Indonesia. The Indonesia-Japan cooperation is packaged with the IJ-EPA (Indonesia-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement) cooperation scheme which includes cooperation in the provision of nursing workers.The implementation of this cooperation is in the form of a program for procuring nursing workers to be employed as nursing workers in Japan. Along with the progress of this program, the government has experienced various obstacles, starting from the requirements to become a nurse in Japan, and the main factor is the obstacle of mastery of the Japanese language and cultural knowledge. Meanwhile, the workers who are sent to Japan to become nursing workers do not have a good command of the Japanese language and culture.Therefore, the Community Service Team of the Japanese Language Study Program, Widyatama University, feels that in order to avoid miscommunication, mastery of the Japanese language and culture is considered quite important. With sufficient language proficiency, it is expected to reduce existing obstacles. The Community Service Team will provide training in the form of introducing Japanese nursing terms in Japanese. This community service activity will be carried out in the 3rd week of December 2022 at POLTEKKES Bengkulu City, Jl. Indragiri Padang Harapan No. 3 Padang Harapan, Gading Cempaka District, Bengkulu City. The material that will be delivered to students is Basic Japanese Language training.

Abstract

The study is aimed to examine the effect of SCEC on SCP on Indonesian service sector alongside the mediating role of SIS and SCC. This was done quantitatively 96 employees were selected as a sample size. Irregular inspecting technique and 5point Likert scale was used to collect the information. AMOS and SPSS has been used to analyze the information. The conclusion of this investigation revealed that Indonesian organizations can enhance their SCP through SCEC. The investigation further confirmed that the capacity of organizations to efficiently and completely share their thoughtful and critical information that can advance the enactment of an organization just as of the whole SC.

Abstract

Landscape linguistics (LL) is one of the disciplines that studies the use of language in public spaces. This study will discuss the use of language in information that describes objects as historical relics in the Bandung Geological Museum from the perspective of LL and provide answers to questions about what language is used in information in the Bandung Geological Museum, what the use of these languages ​​is like in terms of size, and how the configuration of the placement of these languages ​​is positionally. The Geological Museum is a museum that presents various information about aspects of the earth and is the only museum in Indonesia. The Geological Museum is one of the educational tourism destinations in Bandung City, West Java. The Geological Museum is located at Jalan Diponegoro Number 57, Cihaur Geulis, Cibeunying Kaler District, Bandung City. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method. A study based on an approach to the focus and phenomena analyzed by emphasizing the description of the language used, and the function of the linguistic landscape in the description of each object in the Geological Museum. The results of this study show that the linguistic landscape used in this museum is four language variations, namely Indonesian, English, Latin, and Dutch. These languages ​​are written monolingually with 1 (one) sign, bilingual Indonesian-English variation 17 (seventeen) signs, and multilingual 2 (two) language signs. The size of the language signs used for the names of stones using Indonesian is larger. This aims to make the name easy to read and striking, so that it can be distinguished from other languages ​​and information.

Abstract

As the demand for professional workers of productive age increases due to Japan’s declining population, the number of Indonesian workers sent there has also grown. This condition encourages many educational institutions to prepare their students to be ready to work in Japan after completing their studies. One effort is by providing Japanese language learning at the senior high school and vocational school levels. However, mastery of speaking, writing, listening, and reading alone is not sufficient to enter the Japanese workforce Cultural and work ethic differences remain a major challenge, particularly the understanding of the 5S and HoRenSo principles, which are work principles implemented across almost all companies and industries in Japan. Proper application of these principles plays an important role in ensuring smoother workflows and improving work outcomes. Unfortunately, most Indonesian workers are still unfamiliar with them, so when they begin working in Japan, they require an adaptation period that can reduce efficiency. To address this issue, a cluster of lecturers from the Japanese Language Study Program at Widyatama University collaborated with SMK Negeri 1 Buahdua Sumedang to introduce and train students in 5S and HoRenSo principles for the students there.

Abstract

Good communication skills are a key factor in ensuring excellent service in the hospitality industry. In the context of international tourism, foreign language proficiency is essential, given that guests are not limited to domestic visitors. Effective communication with foreign guests, particularly those from Japan, is a crucial concern. In reality, many hotel staff still struggle to interact with Japanese guests due to limited Japanese language proficiency, while English is often ineffective due to pronunciation differences. Given these conditions, the Japanese Language Study Program at Universitas Widyatama conducted a community service activity in the form of basic Japanese language training for hotel staff. This training focused on vocabulary and formal sentences relevant to the hospitality industry. In addition to improving employee communication skills, this activity also aimed to make an academic contribution to improving the quality of the tourism workforce and serving as a concrete manifestation of the Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education).
