Abstract

Logistic operational is the heart of supply chain management that must always exist simultaneously to maintain the sustainability of a business operation in an era of high competitiveness by continuing to provide positive impacts on people and the planet. This is what prompted the Author to conduct a case study on a multinational company that produces industrial boilers and their equipment. The Lean Six Sigma methodology used has proven effective in finding the root of the problem, measuring achievements, analyzing data, preparing improvement steps and controlling each improvement process to ensure continuous improvement. Through joint efforts in the Focus Group Discussion forum, this study has proven to have helped the company to improve its previous condition, where logistics operational costs were very high due to the high cost of the inward process and had an impact on the high carbon footprint produced by transportation equipment, especially those related to the outward process. Improvement in logistics operational performance in the inward and outward processes that resulted cost saving in six months of implementing the improvements. This achievement not only provides financial benefits for the organization, but also impacting to minimize carbon footprint.

Abstract

Public construction projects are increasingly required to integrate sustainability into supply chain performance, particularly in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 12 on Responsible Consumption and Production. However, existing research often evaluates overall supply chain performance without prioritizing specific sustainability-related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). This study addresses that gap by applying the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to assess the relative importance of sustainability indicators within a public construction project in Indonesia. Four KPIs were selected from the Green SCOR framework—supplier sustainability compliance, percentage of recycled materials used, waste reduction in construction, and energy consumption per unit of construction—based on their prominence in literature and validation through a focus group discussion with experts. Data were collected from 66 stakeholders, including owners, contractors, consultants, and suppliers. The AHP results indicate that supplier sustainability compliance (0.401) is the most critical KPI, followed by recycled materials usage (0.268) and waste reduction (0.253), while energy consumption (0.077) ranked lowest. These findings reflect stakeholder emphasis on governance and circularity rather than technical efficiency, diverging from studies in developed countries where energy consumption is often prioritized. This study contributes by refining Green SCOR applications in public construction, demonstrating the use of AHP for KPI prioritization, and providing practical recommendations for policymakers and project managers to embed sustainability into procurement and monitoring systems.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to investigate how organizational practices including quality management systems, occupational health and safety (OHS), workplace facilities, and green work environments directly and indirectly affect employee performance, with job satisfaction serving as a mediating variable. The research responds to the increasing demand for sustainable and employee-centered operations in the sandwich panel manufacturing industry. Methodology/approach – This research adopts a quantitative explanatory design and applies Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to analyze data collected from 150 permanent employees of a sandwich panel manufacturing company in Indonesia. The analysis includes both primary survey responses and secondary records of customer complaints and workplace accidents over a five-year period. Findings – The results reveal that quality management and OHS systems have significant direct effects on employee performance, while workplace facilities and green environments demonstrate a more modest influence. Job satisfaction significantly mediates the relationship between all organizational practices and employee performance, highlighting its central role in performance optimization. Novelty/value – This study contributes to the literature by integrating quality, safety, and sustainability-oriented workplace factors into a unified performance model, emphasizing the mediating function of job satisfaction. The findings align with and support several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 8 (Decent Work), SDG 9 (Industry Innovation), and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).

Abstract

This study examines how integrated inventory control improves operational efficiency at PT XYZ, a wholesaler of imported frozen beef. We apply ABC classification, three time-series forecasting techniques (Moving Average, Exponential Smoothing, Least Squares), and the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) model. At the SKU level, Exponential Smoothing consistently yields the lowest forecasting error across 2023–2024 and most closely tracks actual demand patterns. EOQ analysis indicates substantial cost efficiency relative to actual practices for the majority of SKUs; for instance, TRRL00068 achieves 43–45% annual savings over 2022–2024 and TRSFF00066 achieves 43–46% savings in the same period. These findings demonstrate that disciplined inventory control—anchored in accurate forecasting and EOQ-based ordering—reduces total inventory costs and supports more reliable service levels. The implications align with sustainable operations by lowering waste from overstock and mitigating stockout risks.
