Abstract

Linguistik memiliki berbagai macam bidang.

Abstract

After the COVID-19 pandemic for approximately 2 years, a lot of learning that is usually face-to-face is finally done online or in hybrid ways. Certain learning phases, like writing hiragana, katakana, and kanji in a face-to-face classroom, are not transferable to online learning. The goal of this study is to mitigate the learning loss that happens when face-to-face instruction in Japanese language classes is substituted by online learning. The method used is descriptive qualitative by presenting various ways of teaching Moji-Goi using learning media and YouTube. According to John Keller (2021), learning should use the ARCS method (Attention, Relevance, Confidence, and Satisfaction) so that learning loss can be overcome with various treatments including the ARCS method and various uses of media such as cards, games, songs, role-play, and YouTube. This research also intends to introduce JF (Japan Foundation) Standard learning and share information about Japanese language teaching, especially about Moji-Goi (Vocabulary-letters)

Abstract

This study aims to understand the use of kandoushi to express feelings of surprise and shock in Jujutsu Kaisen manga volumes 21-25. The method used was descriptive qualitative, which involved analyzing 59 data findings, of which 11 data were taken for further analysis. The results showed that kandoushi expressing surprise (odoroki) consists of kandoushi such as ああ(aa), あ(a), え(e), お(o), and なっ(natt) or なに(nani), while the kandoushi that express the feeling of surprise (yosougai no odoroki or igaikan) include は(ha), はあ(haa), ええ(ee), へえ(hee), あれ(are), and なんと(nanto). The use of these kandoushi in speech is often accompanied by emotions such as confusion and others, influenced by the discourse context, build the meaning of the speaker's speech. These findings illustrate the importance of further analyzing the use of kandoushi in interaction and discourse, both in spoken and written language, to understand the nuances of emotion and meaning that speakers want to convey.

Abstract

This Community Service program aims to introduce the language and culture of Japanese society to students at SMP Islam Al Maarif 02 Singosari. Foreign language education has not been widely implemented in junior high schools. In formal education, foreign languages such as Arabic, Japanese, Mandarin, and German are introduced at the junior high school level in the early semesters through a system where students choose based on their interests. This is what prompted the Community Service team from the Japanese Language Education Program to engage directly with middle school students, with the goal of introducing them to the language and culture of Japanese society. This way, when the students targeted by this Community Service initiative enter the secondary education level, they will already be familiar with the Japanese language and culture, and it is hoped that they will choose Japanese as one of their foreign language subjects to study. In other words, this Community Service program serves as a promotional platform for the Japanese Language Education Program under the Department of Language Education at FIB UB. The Community Service activity was conducted on August 5, 2022, at the meeting room of SMP Islam Al Maarif 02 Singosari. The forms of this Community Service activity were: 1) Introducing basic Japanese language, 2) Making Japanese cuisine such as Sushi and Onigiri, and introducing the daily life of schoolchildren in Japan.

Abstract

This Community Service aims to introduce the language and culture of Japan to the students of SMA Negeri 1 Kepanjen and SMK PGRI Wlingi. After the implementation of the Independent Curriculum as a replacement for the 2013 Curriculum, Japan language teachers faced a new challenge, namely the reduction of Japan language lesson hours in schools. This service activity began with a discussion with teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Kepanjen and SMK PGRI Wlingi and to achieve this goal, the team will make students at the school the target of their activities. It is hoped that later the specialization of foreign languages, namely Japan as one of the subjects to be studied, will increase. In addition, this Community Service intends to promote the Japan Language Education Study Program of the Department of Language Education FCS UB to the wider community. The method of implementing this Community Service is by using knowledge transfer from lecturers and students to the target. This Community Service activity was carried out on June 7, 2024 at the multimedia room of SMK PGRI Wlingi and on July 26, 2024 at the Hall of SMAN 1 Kepanjen. The form of PenMas activities this time is 1) Introduction to the Japan Language Education Study Program at Brawijaya University 2) Introduction to Japan Culture 3) Introduction to college scholarships 4) Tutorial on using chopsticks 5) Introduction to Karaoke Culture in Japan. Based on the results of the questionnaire that has been distributed to students and has been analyzed based on a definite formula, it can be concluded that this service activity is considered quite effective to increase students' motivation to learn Japan.

Abstract

This study explores the learning loss experienced at the Moji Intermediate level within the Japanese Language Education Study Program during the COVID-19 pandemic. Over a period of two years, traditional face-to-face learning was replaced by online instruction, which affected the implementation of certain learning stages, such as kanji writing exercises conducted in the classroom. This research aims to identify the extent of learning loss during online learning, specifically with kanji writing skills at the Moji Intermediate level. A descriptive qualitative method was used, comparing course grades from both online and offline learning periods. According to Rajesh, Hasibuan, Susanto, Solihat et al. (2022), while learning loss has been widely studied with various approaches, few have addressed its impact on specific courses, particularly in Japanese language education. The findings reveal that online learning significantly reduced students' kanji writing abilities. As a result, teachers must adopt new strategies to compensate for this gap and ensure that students perform well on the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), which is essential for graduation from the Japanese Language Education Study Program.

Abstract

Websites can serve as effective learning media, especially in the Covid-19 era that necessitates distance learning. The potential for developing educational websites is vast, given the increasingly dynamic and mobile society and the diverse educational needs. This learning concept is expected to create an effective and innovative learning atmosphere, motivating both students and teachers. Based on this background, there is a need for activities that contribute to the development of Japanese language learning in Indonesia, particularly for Japanese language teachers in Malang Raya through Malang MGMP. To address this, the Japanese Language Education Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Brawijaya, organized a training themed “Training on Making Mobile Learning Media as a Means of Increasing Skills for Making Japanese Learning Media for MGMP Teachers of Malang Raya.” This training aims to make Japanese language learning more interesting, innovative, and accessible from anywhere.
