Abstract

Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) is a natural ingredient with potential therapeutic properties for addressing various skin-related problems. The study aims to identify a suitable formulation for a facial toner extract that exhibits favourable physical properties as determined by organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, and hedonic testing. The present study employed an experimental approach to produce a 70% ethanol extract of cucumber fruit through the maceration method, utilising 70% ethanol solvent. Subsequently, the extract derived from the cucumber fruit developed four formulas to prepare face toners. The concentrations of these formulas were designated as F0 (0%), FI (0.5%), F2 (1%), F3 (1.5%), and F4 (utilising brand x toner as a positive control). The physical evaluation test yielded the fulfilment of the physical criteria for the toner, encompassing the organoleptic, homogeneous, pH, and hedonic tests. The IC50 values obtained from the antioxidant activity test conducted on face toner preparations containing cucumber fruit extract at concentrations of 0.5%, 1%, and 1.5% were found to be 128 ppm, 91.017 ppm, and 62.218 ppm, respectively. The SPSS analysis reveals a significant difference in the IC50 value among the various formulas. Specifically, F3 exhibits a smaller IC50 value than the other formulas, indicating a stronger antioxidant activity. It is important to note that a smaller IC50 value indicates a stronger antioxidant activity. The study's findings suggest a positive correlation existing between the extract's concentration and its antioxidant activity, specifically, the extract denoted as F and administered at a concentration of 1.5%.

Abstract

Sex education equips students to have sexual behavior that is in accordance with applicable values and norms and to avoid sexual harassment. Children with mental retardation who have mild intellectual disabilities have difficulty understanding the sexual symptoms they experience. This study aims to examine and explore the management of sex education for mild mentally retarded children at SLB Negeri Slawi and SLB Tebar Pesona Kasih in Brebes. The research method used is qualitative methods with collection techniques using interview, observation, and documentation studies. In this study, the theory of sex education management used refers to the “Edward Daming” theory with data assessment adjusted to the management principles of the “Daming cycle” namely PDCA: (1) planning, (2) implementation, (3) evaluation and follow-up. As for the results of the management of sex education in these two special schools, there are several research results that state the discrepancy between theory and concept due to several obstacles that become obstacles including students, parents, institutions, teachers and supporting infrastructure for sex education. Thus, it is hoped that the government can assist the SLB Negeri Slawi and SLB Tebar Pesona Kasih Brebes schools in providing sex education services that are more systematic and can be evaluated so that mild mentally retarded children are expected to have sexual behavior in accordance with values and norms. there are several research results that state the discrepancy between theory and concept due to several obstacles that become barriers including students, parents, institutions, teachers and supporting infrastructure for sex education. Abstract

This research is motivated by the quality of education in Indonesia which is still static, especially in terms of the performance aspect of teachers as educators. The principal's leadership style is believed to be able to improve the performance of teachers who are considered less than optimal in improving the performance of junior high school teachers to be better and more focused according to transformational leadership indicators including programs, charisma, individual sensitivity, intellectual stimulation, and inspiration for principals in improving teacher performance at SMPN 167 and SMPN 234 Jakarta. In addition, the analysis is specifically aimed at finding out the obstacles and solutions for the principal's leadership in improving teacher performance. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research with a philosophical foundation of progressivism. The results of the study found that:(1) The principal program of SMPN 167 Jakarta in improving teacher performance refers to the main competencies, namely: pedagogic, personality, social, and professional. Meanwhile, the principal of SMPN 234 Jakarta added managerial competence to the program; (2) The transformational leadership charisma of principals at SMPN 167 and SMPN 234 Jakarta can be seen from the principal who is able to become a teacher figure, respects others, is an inspiration and is capable of making teachers prioritize common interests over personal interests; (3) The individual sensitivity of the principal can be seen in terms of being able to observe, appreciate and motivate teachers, such as some teachers being able to participate in the driving teacher program. (4) The principal's intellectual stimulus is found in the wide space in expressing opinions, updating the way of making rules and agreements, and modeling an innovative, hard working and professional attitude; (5) The principal's inspiration can be found when expressing the school's vision and mission; (6) In addition, the obstacles faced by school principals in improving teacher performance are weak human resources and inadequate infrastructure. SMPN 167 Jakarta also has obstacles regarding financing, there are still facilities that are not covered in the RKAS (7) The solution that can be given is that the principal can provide opportunities for teachers to attend certain workshops and training to support better teacher performance and better learning facilities. more comfortable for school residents, especially teachers.
