Based on these criteria, 50 data from 10 Islamic commercial banks were obtained as a sample of this study. The method used was panel data regression with the Eviews 10 analysis tool. The results of this study indicate that the variable GCG and DPK do not have a significant effect on ROE, the NPF variable has a significant negative effect on ROE and the bank size variable does not effect on ROE. However, simultaneously the variables GCG, DPK, NPF, bank size has a Prob. value of 0,020234 < 0.05, has a significant effect on ROE.

Abstract

Islamic banking plays a crucial role in Indonesia's economy and faces risks that impact the sustainability of bank performance as a mediator in the financial system. For the sake of the bank's sustainability, it is necessary to measure efficiency and control risk, measuring the level of efficiency is better than measuring profitability because it is measured by various outputs and inputs, so it does not only focus on company profits. This research aims to investigate the influence of NPF, FDR, BOPO, and CAR on the efficiency of Islamic commercial banks. The research employs quantitative techniques and is based on data obtained from the annual reports of Islamic commercial banks released by the OJK from 2019 to 2023. With the first test using DEAP (VRS) to assess the efficiency level of Islamic commercial banks, then measuring between variables using Eviews 12 (tobit regression). The sampling technique with purposive sampling (sample of 11 banks from 13 population banks). The results indicate that FDR positively impacts the efficiency of Islamic commercial banks, while CAR has a negative impact. However, NPF and BOPO calculations do not influence the efficiency of Islamic commercial banks. In summary, FDR positively affects efficiency, while CAR negatively impacts it in Islamic commercial banks, with NPF and BOPO having no effect.

Abstract

This research centers on the impact of Profit Sharing Ratio scheme, murabaha financing, and Non-Performing Finance (NPF) on the financial performance of Islamic banks in Indonesia, specifically focusing on the Return on Assets (ROA) metric. Utilizing a quantitative methodology, data from 12 Islamic Commercial Banks from 2014-2023 is analyzed using multiple linear regression techniques with EViews 10 software. The findings show that the Profit Sharing Ratio has no significant effect on the Return on Assets of Islamic Commercial Banks. Although Profit Sharing Ratio is a factor that can reflect the profit sharing between banks and customers, this finding indicates that the volatility of profit sharing schemes does not directly affect the profitability of banks, which could be due to the volatile and uncertain nature of the Islamic market itself. On the other hand, murabaha financing shows a significant effect on Return on Assets, indicating that fixed-margin financing is more effective in increasing bank profitability. Murabaha financing, which is based on the principle of sale and purchase with a clear margin, provides stability and predictability in cash flows, which is important in managing the financial performance of Islamic banks, compared to profit-sharing-based financing products that depend on market fluctuations. In addition, Non-Performing Finance has a significant impact on the financial performance of banks. High Non-Performing Finance indicates a high risk of non-performing financing, which can reduce profits and strain the financial stability of the bank. Hence, improved risk management is essential for Islamic banks to stay profitable and financially healthy.

Zakat plays an important role in reducing poverty. This study scrutinizes the influence of individual factors as proxied by attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control, demographic factors as proxied by Islamic educational background and gender, knowledge of zakat, and religiosity on farmers’ compliance in paying agricultural zakat in Ngawi Regency. Primary data were collected through questionnaires. The population in this study is farmers in Ngawi Regency Indonesia. 100 respondents were selected with a sampling technique carried out through purposive sampling. The result of Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) shows that attitude has no significant influence on zakat compliance. On the other hand, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, Islamic educational background, knowledge of zakat, and religiosity have a positive influence on zakat compliance. This study indicates that gender is proven to have a negative influence on zakat compliance. This research contributes to providing valuable insight for zakat institutions to establish zakat collection policies based on individual perspectives.
