Abstract

Latar Belakang : Perubahan warna pada gigi dapat disebabkan oleh kebiasaan merokok, konsumsi kopi dan teh dalam jangka waktu panjang, obat-obatan serta fluorosis. Adanya perubahan warna gigi menyebabkan orang tidak nyaman saat tersenyum maupun berbicara. Penggunaan pasta gigi whitening menjadi upaya untuk mengatasi hal tersebut. Saat ini, penggunaan pasta gigi charcoal menjadi popular untuk mencerahkan warna gigi. Pasta gigi charcoal mengandung charcoal powder yang merupakan bahan abrasif. Penggunaan bahan abrasif sebagai pasta gigi dapat mempengaruhi permukaan enamel. Tujuan : Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengamati peningkatan kekasaran permukaan pada enamel gigi akibat penggunaan pasta gigi charcoal dan pasta gigi whitening. Metode : Penelitian eksperimental laboratoris dilakukan pada tiga puluh gigi premolar satu permanen rahang atas yang dibagi menjadi tiga kelompok sampel yang dilakukan penyikatan menggunakan bahan berbeda. Kelompok A: kelompok kontrol menggunakan distilled water, Kelompok B: pasta gigi whitening dan Kelompok C: pasta gigi charcoal. Penyikatan dilakukan dengan asumsi waktu setara penggunaan 1 dan 3 bulan. Nilai kekasaran permukaan pada enamel gigi sebelum dan setelah perlakuan diukur menggunakan Surface Roughness Tester Mitutoyo SJ-210. Hasil : Analisis statistik menggunakan repeated ANOVA menunjukkan perbedaan peningkatan kekasaran yang signifkan (p < 0,05) pada setiap kelompok setelah penyikatan dengan asumsi waktu sama dengan penggunaan 1 dan 3 bulan. Kesimpulan: Peningkatan kekasaran permukaan enamel akibat penggunaan pasta gigi charcoal lebih besar dibandingkan dengan penggunaan pasta gigi whitening

Abstract

Background: Pulp necrosis is a condition in which the pulp of an immature tooth dies partially or completely due to inflammation that must be treated immediately so that root growth does not stop. Recently, regenerative endodontic procedures (REP) have been successfully used to treat necrotic immature teeth. REP is believed to be a biological treatment designed to replace damaged physiological structures of the tooth, including dentin, root structures, and the pulp-dentin complex. Objectives: This study aims to determine the effect of 3D printed polycaprolactone (PCL) hydrogel scaffold combined with ellagic acid from pomegranate peel extract on the increase in odontoblast cells in regenerative endodontic treatment. Methods: The research method used was true experimental with a Post Test Only Randomized Control Group Design. The samples were randomly divided into four groups: a control group induced by pulp necrosis and not given 3D printed PCL hydrogel scaffold, and three treatment groups induced by pulp necrosis and given 3D printed PCL hydrogel scaffold with variations in the ratio of chitosan:ellagic acid 1:10, 2:10, and 3:20. Results: The test results showed an increase in odontoblasts in each treatment group with the most significant increase at a ratio of 2:10. Conclusion: The combination of 3D printed PCL hydrogel scaffold and ellagic acid from pomegranate peel extract influences the increase in odontoblast cells in regenerative endodontic treatment.Keywords: regenerative endodontics, 3D printed PCL hydrogel scaffold, ellagic acid, odontoblast.

Abstract

Caries risk assessment in permanent teeth is an important preventive strategy for controlling and managing dental cases in children. CAMBRA is an individual-based method for assessing caries risk, while the MinDTain Mobile App is a digital tool that applies a multilevel approach by considering individual, family, and school environmental factors. This study aims to determine the differences between CAMBRA and the MinDTain Mobile Application in assessing the risk of permanent dental caries in children aged 6–12 years at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Ma’arif 1 and 2 Sukun, Malang City. This study used a quantitative analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. Subjects were selected using the total sampling technique. Data were collected through structured interviews and intraoral clinical examinations using the CAMBRA form and the MinDTain Mobile App. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test. The results showed a p-value <0.05 in both age groups [6–9 years and 10–12 years], indicating a statistically significant difference in caries risk assessment between the two methods. In conclusion, there is a significant difference in the caries risk assessment results between CAMBRA and the MinDTain Mobile App in children aged 6–12 years.
