Abstract

Scavengers are people or independent informal workers who take unused items, such as plastics, cardboards and irons that can be sold and recycled. The risk of disease transmission to scavengers is greater because their work directly relates to wastes. Environmental-based diseases might be skin disorders caused by bacteria, viruses and fungi. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with skin complaints of scavengers in final disposal site. The research design used was cross-sectional. The population of this study were all scavengers at Bangkonol Final Disposal Site, Pandeglang Regency. The sample of this study amounted to 120 scavengers taken by total sampling. The results showed that there was a relationship between personal hygiene (Pv = 0.000), knowledge (Pv = 0.000), availability of information (Pv = 0.000), and working period (Pv = 0.000) with skin disease complaints. Meanwhile, there was no relationship between length of contact (Pv = 0.521) and complaints of skin diseases. Scavengers should pay more attention to clean and healthy living behaviors, including washing hands after and before work, bathing twice a day, cutting nails regularly (once a week), and regularly changing work clothes daily.

Abstract

Aim: Everyone in the school community, including students, teachers, and parents, has a role in promoting a healthy environment. Students are expected to acquire the background they need to advocate for healthy lifestyle choices and independently implement preventative measures against illness. Schools can only succeed with UKS (School Health Business) initiatives that promote healthy eating and exercise as part of a broader focus on promoting positive health behavior among students. This paper aims to shed light on the significance of school health efforts in inspiring students to form and keep up with lifestyle choices that are good for their own and the community’s health.Methodology: In the context of the secondary school system in Serang City, a total of 300 participants were analyzed by regression analysis.Findings: Students who took part in school health efforts were found to be more likely to adopt healthier behaviors. There are many benefits to promoting education on healthy and clean lifestyles in schools, including broadening teachers’ horizons, increasing teachers’ motivation and output at work, and reducing tension in teachers’ interactions with their students.Implications/Novel Contribution: This study will provide light on the significance of health education programs in schools and how they affect healthy lives and the formation of strong moral character.

Abstract

Remaja Posyandu is a health service initiative aimed at providing information and skills to adolescents related to pregnancy. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, health activities, including antenatal examinations, have been restricted. This article discusses community service activities in the remaja Posyandu, with a focus on providing preparation to adolescents regarding pregnancy. The approach used is an educative persuasive approach with the hope of changing adolescent behavior to support pregnant women, especially during the pandemic. The research was conducted in Gelam Village, Banten Girang Subdistrict, and received a positive response from the community, especially adolescents. The material presented was well-received, as evidenced by the increase in adolescent knowledge after the activity. The pretest results showed that 45% of adolescents had insufficient knowledge, while the posttest results showed that 90% of adolescents had good knowledge after receiving information. The importance of this activity is reflected in the need to form a 'bestie' team to continue providing support to pregnant women. Thus, Remaja Posyandu can be an effective solution to overcome the limited access to maternal health during the pandemic, with the hope of reducing maternal morbidity and mortality.

Abstract

The achievement of exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia has not yet reached 80%. In 2013, the exclusive breastfeeding rate was 42%, while in 2015, it was 41%. By 2018, the target had still not been met, with an achievement rate of only 37.3%. One contributing factor is the lack of support from husbands and families. This study aims to determine the relationship between family support for breastfeeding companions and maternal behavior in providing exclusive breastfeeding at Independent Midwife Practice (IMP) Hj. Apipah Rangkasbitung in 2023. This research employs a descriptive-analytic design with a cross-sectional method. The sample consists of 40 mothers with infants aged 6–24 months, selected using a total sampling technique. Data collection was conducted from November to January at IMP Hj. Apipah using a questionnaire. The results show that 55% of mothers received support from their husbands, 55% from their biological mothers, 52.5% from their mothers-in-law, and 70% of mothers provided exclusive breastfeeding. The Chi-Square statistical test indicates a significant relationship between support from husbands, biological mothers, and mothers-in-law in providing exclusive breastfeeding (P-value = 0.000). It is recommended that IMP Hj. Apipah provide Exclusive Breastfeeding Communication, Information, and Education to mothers and families, organize father-focused breastfeeding classes, and establish a family-based breastfeeding support system

Abstract

The approach to preventing sexual violence in the campus environment continues to be a concern, including through the active role of the PPKS Task Force of Faletehan University. One of the efforts made is through socialization activities to the academic community. This article directly describes the dynamics that emerged during the activity, starting from the effectiveness of material delivery, participant responses, to challenges in creating a safe and inclusive discussion space. Forms of sexual violence, as well as the role of the Task Force have been conveyed well. However, communication that tends to be one-way is still an obstacle in encouraging active participation. The responses of the participants were varied, some were actively involved, but some were passive due to cultural factors, discomfort, and lack of trust in the PPKS Task Force. Other challenges arise in efforts to build a psychologically safe space, especially because there is still an imbalance in power relations in the academic environment and stigma against victims. Therefore, the communication approach, ongoing facilitator training, and student involvement from the planning stage are the main recommendations. These results are expected to inspire other campuses in designing a more comprehensive sexual violence prevention strategy and making victims feel safe.
