Abstract

Kuliah sambil bekerja bukanlah hal yang mudah dan memiliki keterbatasan dan dapat menimbulkan stres atau tekanan ketika melakukan kuliah sambil bekerja. Dalam melakukan kedua hal ini tampaknya mahasiswa memerlukan suatu kondisi psikologis positif. Kondisi psikologis positif ini disebut sebagai Psychological Capital. Ketika seseorang mengalami masalah yang cukup kompleks dan menimbulkan stres, psychological capital membantu untuk mengatasi tekanan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk melihat hubungan antara psychological capital dengan coping stress yang pada mahasiswa yang kuliah sambil bekerja. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian korelasional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini  seluruh mahasiswa yang kuliah sambil bekerja di Jakarta. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 387 dengan teknik sampling cluster sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuisioner. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang positif signifikan kuat antara psychological capital dengan coping stress pada mahasiswa yang kuliah sambil bekerja dengan nilai r = 0,613. Saran untuk mahasiswa dengan tetap menjaga keyakinan, harapan, rasa optimis, dan adanya ketahanan ketika melakukan kuliah sambil bekerja agar tetap dapat mengatasi dan melalui masalah yang ada ketika melakukan kuliah dan bekerja.

Abstract

Globalization has created great changes towards industrial companies in Indonesia. As the result, competition among industrial companies become very tough. Manufacture industries is still a leading sector for economic growth. ”JCT” Steel Mills company is one of large steel mills industrial company that established since 1992. This research is going to describe Organization Citizenship Behavior (OCB) of employees in ”JCT” Steel Mills company. OCB is known as one‟s willing behaviors to support organization effectiveness. This research is quantitative descriptive research. OCB questionnaire is distributed to 95 employees. Data has been analysed with T-scale. The general result reveals all employees is in moderate level of OCB. The dimension of OCB which are: civic virtue and consciousness is 74.7%, helping behavior is 71.6%, sportmanship is 68.4% , courtesy is 69.5%. Some factors like communication problem among senior and junior level and other divisions are indicated as barriers of courtesy and sportmanship. Keywords: Organizational Citizenship Behavior, Employees, Organization

Abstract

Adolescence is generally focused on the physical appearance of an influence on the way they perceive themselves or are known by the term self-concept. Purchase intention each of individual is believed to be influenced by self- concept, because in it increased sense of self confidence. The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of self-concept to the intention to purchase a branded product in adolescents in Jakarta. This study uses quantitative methods with the type of causal comparative research. The study involved 158 adolescents who have been through the assessment stage of self-criticism with an age range of 15-21 years. Characteristics of the subjects in this study, namely young men and women, aged 15-21 yearsin Jakarta, and ever purchase a minimum of one kind of branded products. This research analyzed at the effect of self-concept on the purchase intention by using simple linear regression techniques. The analysis results, showing that the self-concept have a significant influence on the purchase intention a branded product. The effect from self-concept by 5.9%, so there are 94.1% other factors that influence could factors are environmental influences and the value of a product. Therefore, it is advisable for adolescence to be more responsible and wise before deciding to purchase a product. In addition, parents are also expected to be able to monitor and restrict children spending. Keywords: Self-Concept, Purchase Intention, Adolescence

Abstract

Schizophrenia is a mental disorder characterized by the appearance of symptoms such as hallucinations and delusions. The decrease in the frequency and intensity of symptoms is also called the period of symptom remision. Excessive unresolved stress conditions associated with recurrence / reappearance of schizophrenia symptoms. Relapse can affect the quality of life in people with schizophrenia during remission of symptoms.The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between stress coping with quality of life in people with schizophrenia period remission symptom. This research is a quantitative study with correlational approach. The design of this study used is cross sectional. This study enrolled 52 people with schizophrenia disorder during the remission of symptoms. The data were collected using an adapted questionnaire, the SQLS (Self-Report Quality of Life measure for people with Schizophrenia) and the COPE Brief. Data analysis was done by using Pearson correlation statistic technique. The results showed that there was no correlation between stress coping and quality of life in schizophrenic patients on remission of symptom (p = 0,765, p> 0,05). There is no relationship between coping stress and quality of life caused by many other factors that affect the quality of life, namely negative stigma, self-mastery, family support, socioeconomic, treatment factors. Keywords: coping stress, quality of life, schizophrenia

Abstract

Higher education students’ are in the late adolescent period. In this period they must accomplish some developmental tasks specifically regarding education and working issues. As last term students in their career exploration stage, they have to focus on working issues, thus they need career maturity. This research aims to describe career maturity of last term students of “X” University by using quantitative research method. The instrument of this research was Career Maturity Inventory (CMI) Field data was collected from 118 last term students. The result showed that 51% students were in very low career maturity, 10% were in low career maturity, 66.9% were in moderate career maturity, and 17.8%  were in high career maturity. Some additional results revealed, there were differences of career maturity between students who have working experiences and do not have working experiences (sig 0.060 > 0.05). There were no differences of career maturity based on gender (0.233> 0.05). From the content analysis of open-ended questionnaire results showed the meaning of career for students were: determine future, occupation, and success symbol. Some students did career planning such as studying, getting working experiences, and finding job information. Problems they feel in career planning like do not have working experiences, feel confused to choose, and financial capital for making business. They also mentioned their own strengths were competency, skills, attitude and working experiences. Some weaknesses they feel such as lack of competency and skills, having lack of working attitude, and lack of self confidence. In sum, last term students’ exhibited moderate to high career maturity. Working experiences and evaluation of strengths may predict students’ career maturity. Keywords: Career maturity, last term students, career exploration, working

Abstract

According to Indonesia population statistic, birth rate is getting increased along the year. Thus, public health area need improvement especially hospitals for mother and child.  Nurses in the hospitals play important role in serving patients, they have to work in morning or night shift. Based on interview to some nurse at “LM” mother and child hospital in Bandungl, they admitted that the number of patients are getting increased and nurses have to over work and helped their colleagues because the lack of human resources. The willingness to act extra role of their job called organization citizenship behavior (OCB). The aim of this research is to find the OCB among nurses in “LM” nurses. A quantitative descriptive research was conducted. Questionnaire was created based organization citizenship behavior theory by Organ (2006). The result revealed OCB of nurses in “LM” hospitals 32.48% were in low level. In details, four dimensions were in low level: altruism (45.30%), sportsmanship (47.01%), civic virtue (47.01%) and conscientiousness (31.62%). Meanwhile, courtesy was in moderate level (49.57%). Job characteristics that different among nurses and quality of workload should be the factor to explore more in OCB future research.Keywords: Organizational Citizenship Behavior, work performance, nurses

Abstract

Nowadays, one child families have become a popular phenomenon in many countries, especially in Western countries and China with its one-child policy. Based on birth order literature and research, only children were perceived with negative stereotype among society. Only children were described as lonely, selfish, and dependent. A qualitative study with phenomenological analysis was held in order to describe and understand the loneliness state of only children. The participants were two only teenagers around the age 18-22 years old. Intra-analysis and inter-analysis were conducted. Abstract

Nowadays, economy has changed from industry era to knowledge based economy. Indonesia as one of developing countries need to build, invest, and focus in the knowledge and technology for the economy growth, because it can benefit to become more equal participant in the global development process. Knowledge is the main part that plays an important role for an organization. Knowledge management is a method to increase the process of sharing, distribution and creating knowledge in an organization. Knowledge sharing is part of the process, where one shares their knowledge and ideas throughdiscussion in order to create new knowledge or new ideas. Lecturers are the asset of university’s development and knowledge sharing intention is a positive attitude that should be developed. The aim of this research is to describe the knowledge sharing intention among lecturers in “X” university. This research used quantitative research. Knowledge sharing intention questionnaire was created based on the Theory of Planned Behavior by Azjen (2006). There was 58 lecturers filled the questionnaire. The result revealed that the knowledge intention sharing among lectures was very low (24.1%), low (34.5%), high(17.2%) and very high (24.1%). The response of some open-ended questions identified some factors that hinder their intention to share knowledge, such as lack of confidence, lack of experiences, the limitation of knowledge, and opportunity to share. Keywords: Knowledge, Knowledge sharing intention, lecturers

Abstract

Students can be motivated by many ways dan the most ultimate issue is to understand how and why students are motivated for academic achievement. Self regulated learning (SRL) is defined as a concept about how a leaner becomes the master of his own learning process. The aim of this research is to obtain the decription of self regulated learning of Psychology students of “X” University. SRL in this research was measured by using a questionnaire named Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ). MSLQ is constructed by Self regulated learning by Pintrich, Smith, Garcia dan McKeachie (1991). The research method in this research is descriptive quantitative research. Total subjects in this research were 71 Psychology students who engaged studying in 2012/2013 term. The realibility of this research was 0.953. Data analyzed by Z-score and the result revealed that 34 subjects (47.88%) had low SRL, 26 subjects (36.61%) had moderate SRL, and 11 subjects (15.49%) had high SRL. Abstract

Senior high school students who continue their education level to the college may face many changes, such as higher academic standards. College students are required to be independent, able to adjust their learning style with college’s tasks. As freshmen who started studying in the college therefore this research aimed to find the relationship between intellectual intelligence and work productivity of freshmen. Intellectual intelligence (IQ) has an important role in one’s ability to learn from experience, obtain knowledge, and adapt with new situations. This research also investigated the influence of intellectual intelligence towards students’ work productivity, in which would predict their study performance in the future. The measurement of IQ was measured by using Culture Fair Intelligence Test (CFIT) and students’ work productivity was predicted by using Kraeplin test. This research method is quantitative study. The subject of this research was freshmen in Social and Science Faculty which are 1094 persons. The total subjects of this research are 779 subjects. The results revealed that there was a relationship between intellectual intelligence (IQ) and work productivity among freshmen. The amount of IQ affect towards work productivity is 10.27% and the rest was affected by another factors. The interaction of intellectual intelligence and other factors, such as students’ persistence, self-efficacy and motivation influence students’ performance for long –term result. Keywords: Intellectual Intelligence (IQ), Work Productivity, Freshmen
