Abstract

Students’ voices remain one of the essential sources to evaluate and develop learning materials in which students as the center. This study attempts to evaluate the current English teaching and learning process in a school of aerospace technology. The researcher felt the urge to evaluate it since the teaching and learning process suddenly turned the direction into online learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic globally. Specifically, this study explored the students’ objectives and preferences in learning English during the current situation. Initially, the researcher asked students in one of his classes randomly to be interviewed as the study's preliminary data. A questionnaire was developed from the interview to survey all students of his classes, with 166 students in total. Besides interviews and questionnaires, the data were also collected from the documentation owned by the academic affairs. From the data, it was found that students were basically aware of their learning objectives that corresponded positively to the curriculum developer's objectives. Their preferences in online learning showed how autonomous they were as English learners. However, some findings from the documentation indicated criticism to the teachers that revealed another learner autonomy level.

Abstract

Online learning during COVID-19 pandemic has made teacher and students even parents busy in adapting the change. Many issues rose regarding the implementation of online learning. One of the issues is the student's teacher dependency in learning. Along with this problem, students tend to be passive in online learning. This research was conducted in a higer education context. Quantitative survey research was conducted to 656 sophomore students and 10 teachers in a college of aerospace technology in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Along with the questionnaire, an interview was held to gain the qualitative data to support the quantitive data. As the result, students tend to rely on their teachers and passive in learning.

Abstract

The intention of this research is to use quantitative methodologies to investigate how service recovery (interactional justice, distributive justice, and procedural justice) impacts the satisfaction of customers at Indonesian low-cost carriers. This study featured a total of 100 participants, all of whom faced a service failure at Yogyakarta International Airport between July 2022 and April 2023 and afterwards received service recovery. According to the findings of the study, at the same time, procedural justice, distributive justice, and interactional justice each have a considerable impact on the attributes associated with consumer satisfaction. Furthermore, the three independent factors had an influence on consumer satisfaction. According to the coefficient of determination, the three independent variables investigated in this research account for 30.9% of the variance in customer satisfaction. Meanwhile, the remaining 69.1% of the variance is impacted by variables not included in this research. Based on these findings, low-cost airlines should prioritize creating fairness in their service recovery mechanisms if they want to boost customer happiness.

Abstract

Acquiring new English words is a challenge for students because they commonly need to learn to use the words in their daily lives, which are dominated by their first language for communication. Flashcards are instrumental in facilitating their vocabulary learning. This research examined flashcards' use in teaching and learning English language vocabulary. This research used a quantitative approach with an experimental design. The data was collected by asking students to do a vocabulary test before and after the treatment. The object of this research was fourth-grade students in a private primary school in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The results indicated that the student's English vocabulary level on the pre-test was at the intermediate level, which showed a mean score of 52.20. Meanwhile, on the post-test, the student's English vocabulary level was at an advanced level, showing a mean score of 77.60. In addition, the Wilcoxon test showed that the p-value of asymp.sig.2tailed was 001. It means that the students’ English vocabulary significantly improved after being taught using flashcards. It indicates that the hypothesis that flashcards have significantly improved students' vocabulary was accepted.

Abstract

The research discussed Lukman Batik’s artwork, which served as a poignant reminder of the value of maintaining these traditions and ensuring that traditional techniques and patterns used in batik art were practical and could be carried on by future generations. The research aimed to conduct thorough research on Lukman Batik Yogyakarta and its significance as a cultural heritage site, to investigate the correlation between prior knowledge and cultural tendency in relation to the tourist experience of making batik at Lukman Batik Yogyakarta, to analyze the data collected and interpret the nature of the correlation between prior knowledge, cultural tendency, and tourist involvement in experiencing batik making at Lukman Batik Yogyakarta. The research was analyzed using Pearson correlation. The target audience of the survey was tourists who came to Lukman Batik, and the sample was 732 tourists aged 17-50 years old. The sample’s statistical analysis showed that the respondents’ sex ratio was generally balanced, with a majority of young and middle-aged (age 17-45 years old) tourists. The majority of participants had bachelor’s degrees or above, and the majority of respondents were professionals or employees. The research reveals that 0.949, which means that prior knowledge has a “very strong” relationship with cultural tendency and involvement. The result shows a significant positive relationship between prior knowledge and the cultural tendency of tourist involvement. Interaction with cultural attractions, such as batik making and tourist participation throughout the visit, play a major role in forming enduring memories.

Abstract

Adanya wilayah Bandar Udara Internasional Juanda yang luas maka diperlukannya rambu-rambu petunjuk wilayah yang dimaksud. Hal ini dimaksudkan untuk memudahkan penumpang dalam mencari tujuannya. Pemahaman yang baik terhadap rambu di terminal bandar udara berkontribusi langsung pada kinerja bandar udara tersebut secara keseluruhan. Pemahaman yang rendah dapat menyebabkan kebingungan, penundaan, dan bahkan risiko keselamatan jika pengguna tidak mengikuti petunjuk dengan benar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar tingkat pemahaman penumpang di Terminal Bandar Udara Internasional Juanda Surabaya. Pada penelitian ini peneliti menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif deskriptif. Peneliti juga menggunakan kuesioner sebagai teknik pengumpulan data sebanyak 20 pertanyaan dan regresi linier sebagai teknik analisis data. Sampel pada penelitian kali ini yaitu penumpang yang berada di area Terminal Bandar Udara Internasional Juanda Surabaya yaitu 100 responden. Tingkat pemahaman penumpang terhadap rambu-rambu di Terminal Bandar Udara Internasional Juanda Surabaya yaitu sangat tinggi dengan persentase 30%, tinggi dengan persentase 38%, cukup dengan persentase 18%, rendah dengan persentase 13%, dan sangat rendah dengan persentase 1%. Sehingga dapat ditetapkan bahwa Tingkat pemahaman penumpang terhadap rambu-rambu di terminal Bandar Udara Internasional Juanda secara keseluruhan termasuk kategori tinggi.

Abstract

Bandar Udara Tjilik Riwut ialah satu–satunya Bandar Udara yang terletak di Kota Palangka Raya. Saat ini, beberapa maskapai penerbangan telah memperkenalkan Check-in online, seperti pada maskapai Lion Air di Bandar Udara Tjilik Riwut Palangka Raya. Dengan adanya sistem Check-in online ini, diharapkan dapat mempermudah calon penumpang untuk melakukan Check-in online di mana saja dan kapan saja melalui ponsel. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi dan pemahaman penumpang terhadap Check-in online pada website maskapai Lion Air di Bandar Udara Tjilik Riwut Palangka Raya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pendekatan kualitatif dan jenis data yang digunakan yaitu data primer. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, sedangkan untuk menganalisis data yang telah didapatkan dengan uji reduksi data, penyajian data, dan menarik kesimpulan. Agar hasil penelitian ini dapat dipercaya diperlukan uji keabsahan data yaitu triangulasi sumber dan triangulasi teknik. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan hasil bahwa persepsi tiap penumpang terhadap layanan Check-in online ini sangat bervariasi, tergantung dari pengalaman pribadi tiap penumpang. Kebanyakan penumpang sudah merasa puas dengan pengalaman nya menggunakan layanan Check-in Online, karena bagi penumpang adanya layanan check-in online ini sangat membantu, menghemat waktu, dan juga mempermudah dari sisi penumpang. Penggunaan website pada check-in online juga praktis, tidak ribet, dan fitur di dalam pun sudah lengkap. Untuk pemahaman seorang penumpang yang menggunakan layanan check-in online ini belum bisa dikatakan paham, karena masih banyak penumpang yang hanya tahu menggunakan layanan ini saja.

Abstract

Proficiency in English, particularly in the specialized vocabulary of the aviation industry and air travel tourism, is crucial for effective communication and understanding. This study aims to explore the demand for an Air Travel Picture Dictionary among Air Transport Management students, addressing their specific linguistic challenges. Employing the first stage of the Research and Development (R&D) framework - Need Analysis, which is part of the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) model, this research utilizes a mixed-methods approach. Data was gathered from 141 Air Transport Management students, selected through random sampling, and complemented by semi-structured interviews with lecturers and industry practitioners. The findings reveal a significant reliance on English within the aviation sector, with specialized terminology being particularly prominent and crucial. Despite acknowledging its importance, students identified gaps in their vocabulary skills, notably in pronunciation, word meaning, word-class identification, and spelling. While online resources like Google Translate and search engines are commonly used for assistance, along with support from instructors and peers, traditional general English dictionaries and reference materials are less favored. Specialized aviation dictionaries specifically catering to air travel are seldom used. There is a pronounced interest among students for a bespoke Air Travel Picture Dictionary. Such a resource, they suggest, should encompass comprehensive vocabulary listings, pronunciation guides, clear word definitions, word class categorization, and visually engaging thematic illustrations that reflect the air travel process. This tool is envisioned to not only enhance their vocabulary but also to aid in better understanding the practical aspects of air travel in the aviation industry.

Abstract

AbstrakPada ahir tahun 2019 dunia dihebohkan dengan adanya virus Covid 19, virus ini terjadi secara masif sehingga pada tanggal 11 maret 2020 organisasi kesehatan dunia (WHO) resmi menyatakan virus covid 19 menjadi pandemi. Bandar Udara Abdulrachman Saleh Malang merupakan salah satu bandar udara yang serius dalam menangani penumpang pada masa pandemi, sehingga menciptakan sebuah strategi penganan penumpang berdasarkan gugus tugas yang telah di tetapkan oleh mentri perhubungan demi kelancaran, keamanan dan keselamatan penumpang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana penerapan yang telah ditetapkan oleh Bandar Udara Abdulrachman Saleh Malang dalam menangani penumpang pada masa pandemi Covid 19. Bentuk penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian study kasus. Sedangkan teknik keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi teknik dan teknik analisis data menggunakan reduksi data, penyajian data, penarikan kesimpulan. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah Wawancara, Observasi dan Dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkkan bahwa terdapat enam tahap strategi yang dilakukan oleh Bandar Udara yaitu Mengidentifikasi masalah, Brainstroming, Pemilihan, Pengembangan, Rencana tindakan dan Penilaian. Seluruh personel Bandar Udara telah melaksanakan kegiatan operasional sesuai dengan aturan yang telah ditetapkan oleh kementrian perhubungan.Kata Kunci: Covid 19, Strategi Perusahaan, Kebijakan Pemerintah AbstractAt the end of 2019 the world was shocked by the presence of the Covid 19 virus, this virus happened so massively that on March 11, 2020 the world health organization (WHO) officially declared the covid 19 virus to be a pandemic. Malang Abdulrachman Saleh Airport is one of the airports that is serious in handling passengers during the pandemic so as to create a passenger confectionery strategy based on the task force that has been set by the minister of transportation for the smooth, security and safety of passengers. This study aims to find out how the implementation that has been determined by Abdulrachman Saleh Airport Malang in handling passengers during the Covid 19 pandemic. This form of research uses qualitative methods with the type of case study research. While the data validity technique used triangulation techniques and data analysis techniques used data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data collection techniques used are Interview, Observation and Documentation. The results showed that there were six stages of strategy used by airport, namely Identifying problems, Brainstroming, Selecting, Developing, Action planing and Assesting. All Airport personnel have carried out operational activities in accordance with the rules set by the ministry of transportation.Keywords: Covid 19, Corporate Strategy, Government Policy
