Abstract

The Atonement wrought by Jesus Christ is the foundation of the Christian faith that must be held and believed to gain one's salvation. Paul calls this concept with two words Katallage and Hilasmos which means restoring the relationship between God and sinful man to live again to the design that God has ordained. However, this concept rarely gets attention because Christians focus more on Justification. In addition, the atonement made by Jesus is also tricky for the millennial generation to accept in this postmodern era because of the relativism and pluralism spirit contained in it. That is why it is necessary to build the concept of atonement that Jesus did and implement it to the youth. The research method used is a qualitative case study, namely the implementation to the youth of the Ministry of Refreshment, Bekasi. The results showed that the atonement made by Jesus brought a mandate to the younger generation of the Refresh Ministry to glorify God and spread this atonement to others who have not reconciled. This value inculcation carries out a discipleship model that balances teaching and encounter.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Suffering is an inherent reality within Asian societies, stemming from various economic, political, social, cultural, and religious factors that contribute to the widespread poverty in Asia. While some individuals accept this suffering as a normal part of human life, others strive to escape the suffering. The concept of overcoming adversity is referred to as survival theology. This study explores the theology of survival through the lenses of migration theology, Pentecostalism, and Gawai Dayak culture. Employing a descriptive qualitative research method and a constructive theological approach, this study aims to understand how survival theology can be contextualized within these diverse frameworks. The findings reveal that communal unity serves as a powerful force to help individuals sustain suffering. Additionally, personal faith and trust provide additional for enduring hardhips as part of God’s plan. Keywords: Gawai West Kalimantan, Survival Theology, Contextual Studies, Pentecostalism   ABSTRAK Penderitaan merupakan realitas yang melekat dengan masyarakat, termasuk masyarakat Dayak. Abstract

People with disabilities are the image of God and are often discriminated against in the church. Discrimination is done because people with disabilities are considered different from other people. Therefore, a phenomenological study is needed to understand the congregation. This research examines the congregation's understanding of the presence of people with disabilities in the church. The research method used is quantitative through a google form. The sample congregation is Gereja Kemenangan Iman Indonesia Bekasi. The research results show that GKII Bekasi is not hospitable to people with disabilities. Therefore, special attention is needed for people with disabilities and themes that discuss the existence of people with disabilities. The researcher suggested several theological themes from the perspective of disability that need to be developed, namely the destruction of sin and disability, self-identity healing, wholeness and disability, theology of the body, and hospitality for people with disabilities. Such actions will destroy the negative stigma of the congregation.

Abstract

Since its founding, the Bethel Indonesia Church (GBI) Basilea Menteng has significantly transformed from a place of worship to a "spiritual garden", reflecting its rich history and religious dynamics. This research aims to trace the history of GBI Basilea Menteng from its founding to the present, focusing on the concept of a "spiritual garden". The method used is qualitative research with a historical approach, collecting data through documentation and interviews. This research combines constructive theology and history, such as Joas Adiprasetya's garden spirituality and Jan Sihar Aritonang's guide to local church history. The research results show that implementing the garden spirituality model and plural leadership at GBI Basilea Menteng has created an inclusive and supportive community, allowing a diversity of spiritualities to develop. This transformation enriches the spiritual experience of congregation members and strengthens unity in diversity. Through this approach, GBI Basilea Menteng becomes a model church that is not only centered on Christ but also integrates the principles of inclusivity and diversity in every aspect of its life.

Abstract

Paul, Apostle relates the Good News to the wisdom of God that is understood by humans who give themselves to believe in Jesus. However, the presence of the powerful Sophists with the teaching of worldly wisdom and relying on the power of the word of wisdom (sophia logou), has obscured the true meaning of God's wisdom. This study aims to explore the influence of the Sophists in the life of the Corinthian church which caused Paul to explain the true meaning of wisdom. Knowing the background of the wisdom problem in Corinth will give you a complete picture of the wisdom of God that Paul preached. This study applies historical research methods to find out the origin and influence of the Sophists' teachings. The results show that the sophia logou owned by the Sophists has obscured the meaning of the cross of Christ which is the wisdom of God. The wisdom that Paul means in the letter to the Corinthians is the openness of one's mind to believe in the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross which has implications for congregational unity and survival in the face of problems or struggles.

Abstract

Asia is a locus of a society full of suffering and poverty. An active role in social life is an expected construction for the relevance of life. The article examines the spirituality and theology adopted by Pentecostals to engage in social life. The research method used is qualitative with a constructive theology approach. The research results show that the relationship between creation and history becomes essential because it provides a way to talk about the importance of action in the divinely created biophysical order while still distinguishing it from the discussion about creation as a product of divine causality. The maintenance of the Holy Spirit in creation is done with involvement in responding to social issues. When one understands creation as a biophysical order, the created order contains development in mind. In other words, the cultural mandate reflects the implicit understanding that the entire biophysical order was created in a potential state, ready for a long development process, and maintained with the help of the Holy Spirit.

Abstract

The typology of church and government relations proposed by Philip J. Wogaman provides a conceptual framework for understanding the levels of church engagement in the public sphere. This study explores how Pentecostal communities in Indonesia can actively participate in the socio-political arena without losing their theological identity. Through the seven levels of participation, the church can influence societal ethos, educate congregations, and even take more radical steps, such as civil disobedience. However, political neutrality for the sake of peace is not included in the levels of participation outlined by Wogaman. By integrating pneumatological values and public theology principles, Pentecostal churches hold significant potential to become social and spiritual transformation agents, addressing the challenges of religious pluralism, poverty, and social injustice in Indonesia.

Abstract

Generation Z of Indonesian Christians, who are full of knowledge and technology, tend to ignore their identity as followers of Jesus. Anarchic, destructive, and immoral behavior has become a regular trend among Generation Z Christians. In order to address this problem, relevant teaching approaches and sources are needed. The approach offered is teaching-encountering-based discipleship and teaching sources through reincarnating the thoughts and spirituality of Thomas à Kempis as Devotio Moderna. The Kempis trilogy's offering, namely the opposition pairs in the fabric of today's reality, God's sovereignty, and the obedience of God's people, need to be echoed for Generation Z. This research aims to extract the spirit of Thomas à Kempis for the life of Generation Z of Indonesian Christians. The method used is historical research, the primary source of which is the book De Imitatione Christi by Thomas à Kempis. The results of the study show that Generation Z of Indonesian Christians can vitalize a realistic, pluralistic, and Activist spirituality if (i) they understand the essence and purpose of life, (ii) realizing that there is a confusion of values and culture; (iii) wise and critical in accepting new information and lifestyles; (iv) dare to speak out on sensitive issues that occur in the general public and the Church.

Abstract

The revitalization of women's education requires an approach that emphasizes not only cognitive development but also spirituality, ethics, and social engagement. The principle of Disciplina Christiana, derived from Jerome's ascetic thought, provides an alternative curricular framework for addressing the challenges of women's education in Indonesia's plural and patriarchal context. The focus lies in shaping women as autonomous subjects—faithful, critical, and compassionate—rather than passive objects within the educational system. This study aims to formulate a transformative educational model by employing a qualitative method with a historical-hermeneutical approach and theological analysis. Three key areas are highlighted: lectio sacra as a spiritual practice that helps women connect with their faith, disciplina vitae to develop strong morals and self-discipline, and actio caritatis as a way to engage in helping others and promoting social justice actively. These pillars are integrated into the contextual and transformative praxis of Christian religious education. The result is a curricular model that not only shapes character but also strengthens women's agency and participation in building a more just and compassionate society.
