Abstract

The recent development is indirectly resulting in an increase of the need of gravel materials. Thus, management efforts should be importantly implemented in mine operations. To run a new mine operation, ananalysis regarding finance planning would be needed in order to determine the amount of cost spent in the wholeactivities of mine operation. One critical point of the financial analysis is the breakeven point method. Thismethod is utilized to estimate the minimum quantity of production based on the operational costs spent.Breakeven point method would also show the correlation patterns between sale volumes, production costs, andreturn levels in each level of sales. In addition, several alternatives in terms of production and cost efficiencycan be derived by implementing this approach. The results showed that the breakeven point of mine activitiesoperated by Pulau Lemon company was Rp. 2,376,444 per hour, while the minimum quantity of production was8.06 tonnes per hour. The implication of the results was that the company should operate above the breakevenpoint to ignore such financial loses.

Abstract

One of the tunnel excavation method on underground mine Grasberg Block Caving method heading and bench, the size of the tunnel were observed (width, m x height, m) 6.8 x 6 (headings) and 6.8 x 3 (bench). After the excavation is done on a heading followed by the activities of ground support, then do the blasting vertical benching. Blasting activities can give bad impact among others fly rock and an excessive burst of energy that could damage ground support on drift back. Ground support is used namely splitset, wire mesh, threadbar and cable bolt. The geometry of the blasting is applied on the area of Grasberg And Drift 5 and 7 (exhaust) the burden of 1.75 m, spacing 1.40 m, height 3 m, benching depth hole explosive 4 m with a slope of 50 and 150, field 2.1 m, 0.8 m, drilling sub powder factor of 1.14 kg/m3 and stemming is not used. The draft of the proposed blasting, based on prediction method using C.J. Konya and Berta G produces a range of fly rock 2.61 m and energy blast 40,24 MJ.

Abstract

In order to meet the demand of gravel materials needed for the project of Warmare-Prafi EIB 17 road construction, it was important for Brantas Abipraya company, as the gravel supplier and construction operator, to initially apply a risk analysis. Factors such as operational costs and level of profitability, which was calculated based on the cash flows during the project term, were critically considered in the analysis. Moreover, considering changes of those factors above, financial analysis was also applied through Net Present Value (NPV) method. In the mining activity, excavators were used for both digging and loading. Dump trucks were used in the process of hauling the materials from front locations to crashing plant, and wheel loaders were used in the loading process in the crashing location. According to the project calculation, the volume of gravel material needed for the whole activities during the project was approximately 369,060 m3, which was estimated dealing with road length of 56.736 Km. Due to the fact that the company was acted as the supplier as well as the construction operator, there was no marketing activities on gravel produced. Financing factor or capital which was received by the company was resulted from the value of the project. The minimum interest rate was about 12% per annum. The research concluded that this gravel mining activity was more influenced by changes in profit level than changes in the level of operational costs.
