Abstract

Permasalahan utama yang dihadapi masyarakat Desa Nepo adalah kurangnya ketersediaan air dengan kualitas yang memenuhi persyaratan kesehatan/baku mutu sehingga memaksa masyarakat menggunakan air sungai yang kualitasnya diragukan. Permasalahan ini harus ditangani sesegera mungkin karena dapat memberikan dampak negatif terhadap kesehatan masyarakat. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan wawasan masyarakat mengenai persyaratan kualitas air bersih dan teknologi pengolahan air bersih dengan cara menerapkan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi (IPTEK) sehingga kesehatan masyarakat tetap terjaga. Metode yang digunakan untuk mencapai tujuan dan target yang telah ditetapkan adalah dengan cara melaksanakan pelatihan dan penyuluhan yang diharapkan berguna bagi masyarakat setempat. Dengan terlaksananya kegiatan pengabdian ini, pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai hidup sehat dan berkelanjutan serta keterampilan membuat alat penyaring air/filter air bersih meningkat. Pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang telah dimiliki diharapkan dapat ditularkan dan menjadi contoh bagi masyarakat disekitar Desa Nepo.

Abstract

Abstract

The environmental problems that often occur around us, through education is expected to be able to instill the care of the younger generation to protect the environment, because the younger generation is the heir to the inhabitants of the earth in the future. Base on the Indonesian regulation, number 32 (2009) said that everyone has the right and role in environmental management. This means that every individual must have a sense of responsibility towards the environment and a caring attitude to protect the environment. The purpose of this activity is to increase the knowledge and insight of students regarding environmental awareness education to support the implementation of the adiwiyata program. The level of concern and participation of school members in the field of environmental preservation is already quite high, but the level of concern still needs to be improved so that it can influence knowledge and behavior continuously and encourage widespread activities or concrete actions in efforts to improve the Unhas State Inpres SD State Elementary School. The method used to achieve the stated goals and targets is to carry out training and counseling that are expected to be useful for students and teachers. With the implementation of this community service activity, the knowledge of students and teachers about environmental awareness education to support the implementation of the adiwiyata program increases. Knowledge and skills possessed are expected to be transmitted and become an example for elementary schools around Makassar City.

Abstract

Groundwater is one source of clean water that widely used by people in Indonesia, including in Borongloe Village, Bontomarannu District, Gowa Regency. However, groundwater utilization often experiences problems due to the presence of iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn) in ground water which can cause health problems if consumed continuously. The presence of these two substances in groundwater causes the color of the water to turn yellow-brown after some time in contact with air. In addition, there is often an unpleasant odor and yellow spots on clothes and water storage containers. The purpose of this activity is to increase the knowledge and understanding people of Borongloe Village regarding the requirements for clean water quality and groundwater treatment technology. The method purpose is to achieve the goals that have been set is to carry out socialization of the well water treatment method using a silica sand filter, manganese zeolite and activated carbon. The socialization activity was carried out at the Borongloe village head office, attended by twenty-five participants. The enthusiasm of the participants is very well in participating the socialization, this proved by the sincerity in receiving the material and the desire to ask questions during the activity. The results of the post test showed that 50% - 80% of the participants really understood the socialization material which includes requirements for clean water quality, manufactured and media for clean water filters as well as operation and maintenance of clean water filters.

Abstract

The urban slum problems are always be a complex issues in environmental physics, economic, social, and also the facilities and infrastructure itself. In general, the slum areas are not suitable to live in because basic facilities and amenities are not available in the residential environment. The aim of this Community Service activity is to increased community knowledge and understand regarding domestic wastewater management system. The method used to the goal is by implementing socialization activities in one of the areas that belong to the slum category. Implementation of the Activities at the office of Kelurahan Tallo, attended by twenty-five participants. The enthusiasm of the participants in taking part in socialization activities is high, it is evident from the seriousness in receiving material and the desire to ask questions as well as sharing information about the management of wastewater in the Tallo Village. The level of public understanding of the socialization material has increased from 4% – 12% to 16% - 72%. With the increase in public knowledge and understanding is expected to increase also the motivation to participate in environmental conservation efforts, especially those related to the sustainability of the aquatic environment.

Abstract

Aims: This study was aimed to evaluates the development of the water distribution network in the IKK PDAM Lama of Konawe Kepulauan Regency- Southeast Sulawesi Province, Indonesia, particularly in West Wawonii Sub-district, which faces the challenge of increasing water demand due to population growth and urbanization. Methodology and results: The study utilized survey methods of water pressure, discharge, and physical condition of the network, as well as secondary data such as network maps and PDAM technical reports. Water demand projections were conducted based on the technical standards of the Minister of Public Works and Housing Regulation No.27/PRT/M/2016, with network hydraulics simulations using EPANET 2.2 software to analyze water pressure and flow under existing conditions and after network development. Conclusion, significance and impact study: Simulation results indicate that the water distribution network developed in 2025 fails to meet community demand, evidenced by negative pressure zones requiring network design revision. Initial optimization involved increasing the main pipe diameter to 150 mm and using Galvanized Iron Pipe (GIP) to reduce leakage, which satisfied demand until 2035 but fell short by 2040. Further optimization increased the main pipe diameter to 200 mm and the divider pipe to 160 mm, successfully meeting water demand until 2045. This study highlights the necessity of sustainable planning and continuous optimization in water distribution networks to maintain adequate service pressure and reliable clean water supply, especially in rapidly growing urban areas.
