Abstract

This study examines the characteristics of William Wallace as the main character in leading Scotland to fight for its independence in the novel Braveheart by Randall Wallace, using Sudarmanto's theory of heroism. This study aims to identify the character depiction of the main character and analyze the character of William Wallace as the main character in the fight for Scottish independence in the novel Braveherat by Randall Wallace. The data used is to look at the dialogue and heroic actions of William Wallace as shown in the novel Braveheart by Randall Wallace. Research results: (1) To understand the meaning of the novel (2) Knowing William Wallace's characteristic struggle in fighting for Scotland's independence. (3) To understand the meaning of heroism. This study shows the character of the main character William Wallace in his struggle to liberate the Scottish people from British colonialism.

Abstract

This research looks at how Muslim women are portrayed in director Nida Manzoor's TV series “We Are Lady Parts” (2021). The research is using the representation theory by Stuart Hall and Islamic feminism by Fatima Mernissi. This research aims to determine two things: first, how Muslim women are portrayed in the TV series “We Are Lady Parts” (2021); and second, how Muslim women are described in the show. The results of this study are classified into two, namely first, the images of Muslim women in the TV series “We Are Lady Parts” (2021) consist of the characterization of women consisting of physical aspects, Muslim women and their interactions, Muslim women in dealing with difficult situations, and Muslim women in their daily activities. Second, the representation of Muslim women depicted in the TV series “We Are Lady Parts” (2021) produces representations of educated Muslim women, Muslim women with a culture of love and marriage, Muslim women who have careers and hobbies, Muslim women and the struggle of misrepresentation.

Abstract

Pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang khusus diperuntukkan kepada kaum buruh sangatlah minim. Padahal kaum buruh merupakan salah satu elemen dalam masyarakat yang sering dianggap sebagai subaltern. Meskipun sering dianggap sebagai subaltern, namun tak bisa dipungkiri bahwa kaum buruh sangat berperan penting bagi keberhasilan pembangunan di suatu negara. Oleh karena itu, pengembangan keterampilan sosial para buruh yang dalam konteks ini yakni, meningkatkan keterampilan atau kecakapan dalam mengelola informasi, berkomunikasi, baik secara lisan maupun tulisan mesti diselenggarakan. Kemudian dalam kegiatan PKM ini, tim pengabdi melakukan pelatihan penulisan biografi untuk buruh yang terhimpun dalam Serikat Buruh Kerakyatan (SERBUK) di Kabupaten Karawang. Pelatihan penulisan biografi untuk buruh yang terhimpun dalam Serikat Buruh Kerakyatan (SERBUK) di Kabupaten Karawang ini bagi tim pengabdi dirasa menjadi salah satu hal krusial, upaya strategis, dan tentu penting untuk diselenggarakan. Kemudian agar PKM ini menjadi PKM yang komprehensif, dalam pelaksanaannya PKM ini menggunakan pendekatan workshop yang dilakukan secara daring dan luring. Hasil dari PKM ini diharapkan mampu meningkatkan keterampilan dalam berkomunikasi, baik secara lisan maupun tulisan berupa buku antologi biografi dari para buruh. Selain itu, hasil dari PKM ini juga berupa penerbitan kumpulan pengalaman biografis buruh sebagai bagian dari peningkatan kapasitas organisasi dan pengorganisasian buruh.
