Abstract

This study explores waste management literacy in secondary school communities in Tangerang City, Indonesia, using the Knowledge, Attitude, Behavior (KAB) model within the 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) framework. Adopting a mixed-methods sequential explanatory design, the research begins with a quantitative survey of 357 participants including principals, teachers, staff, and students from seven schools near the Rawa Kucing Landfill applying multiple regression and correlation analyses to evaluate relationships between knowledge, attitude, and behavior. Results show that while knowledge positively influences behavior, attitude unexpectedly correlates negatively, revealing an attitude-behavior gap. Although respondents generally hold positive attitudes toward waste management, these attitudes do not consistently translate into active engagement. The study's qualitative phase uses interviews to identify barriers contributing to this gap, uncovering individual, social, and structural obstacles such as inadequate facilities and established waste practices that hinder effective waste management. Advocating for a comprehensive approach, the study recommends providing schools with 3R bins and training, sustainable behavior modeling by teachers, alignment of municipal waste collection with school efforts, family reinforcement of waste practices, and curricular integration of waste management. This coordinated approach seeks to bridge the attitude-behavior gap and promote sustainable waste practices across school communities in Tangerang City.

Abstract

Numerous scholarly articles have explored the relationship between education and its role in promoting religious moderation since the concept was introduced in Indonesia. However, only a few articles have been published in journals indexed by Scopus. Concerning Scopus as an accredited journal indexer recognized internationally, this paper's objective was to perform a systematic review of existing literature using the Scopus database from 2019 to 2023 to analyze the significance of education in strengthening religious moderation in Indonesia. The main steps are planning, conducting, and reporting the review. It includes 14 selected articles categorized based on five elements of educational systems: teachers, students, educational objectives, learning management, and educational environments. According to the systematic literature review, education has strengthened religious moderation in Indonesia. It is supported by sufficient teachers' capabilities in teaching religious moderation, students' role as the agents of religious moderation, educational objectives that accommodate religious moderation values, learning managements that use various learning methods and resources, higher thinking order skills, interreligious dialogue, and strategic partnership, and educational environments that provide sufficient learning systems, such as integrating Madrasah Diniyah and Pesantren Universities. However, the implementation still faces challenges requiring more attention from various parties.

Abstract

Today, STEM development leads to efforts to implement educational openness, emphasizing transparency and unlimited free access to information and knowledge. Rapid information and communication technology development supports efforts to implement open STEM learning. Through this article, the author has mapped study trends regarding the use of technology in STEM education so that it can become an illustration for future studies. The mapping process in this article is carried out using bibliometric analysis, which focuses on scientific publications, collaborations, and citations. Studies on the use of technology in STEM education from 2017 to 2023 show numbers that fluctuate and tend to decrease. The bibliometric analysis in this article also shows the ASEE Annual Conference and Exposition as the most productive proceedings publishing articles on the use of technology in STEM education, Castro M as the most productive author, San Francisco University as the most productive affiliate, United States as the most productive country, and articles compiled by Ibanez with the title Augmented Reality for STEM Learning: A Systematic Review became the most cited articles. This information can be used as a reference for future researchers who wish to study more about the use of information technology in STEM education. Another critical aspect that researchers need to pay attention to if they want to carry out further studies are topics or issues currently popularly associated with using technology in STEM education. Limitations in this article can be completed through further research on the same theme. Future research can include book chapters as a source of metadata. The publication time span can also be added to enrich the analyzed articles.
