Abstract

Background: Low body weight (LBW) cases have continuously occurred. However, some newborns with LBW could not afford good and hightechnological health services due to several barriers such as cost, geography, transportation, and communication barriers. Incubator replacement through kangaroo treatment method is considered to be an effective and economical alternative in which the weight gain in newborns with LBW could be enhanced. Kangaroo care method can be used in treating newborns with low birth weight. The purpose of this study was to identify the effectiveness of the implementation of the kangaroo care method in increasing the weight gain of newborn with LBW at the General Hospital of Majene. Methods: The research design used in this study was a pre-experiment with One Group Pretest Posttest Design. The sampling method used in this research was total sampling where 38 samples were selected.  This research was conducted at the Regional Hospital of Majene in the Perinatology room. Results: The results of this research indicated that there were significant differences in newborns before and after the implementation of the Kangaroo care method. It was evident that the newborns weight significantly increase with the Kangaroo care method. Therefore, further research should be carried out to investigate the factors which influence the increase of newborns weight. Conclusion: In this study we found that there were significant differences in LBW babies before and after being treated with the kangaroo method (PMK).

Method: This type of research is an observational analytic research with a case control approach. The population and sample used are all pregnant women who are recorded in the register book for 2020-2022 at RSIA Fatimah Makassar and RSUD Haji Makassar with a sample of 75 cases and controls that met the inclusion criteria. Result: The results showed that the prevalence of hyperemesis gravidarum at RSIA Fatimah Makassar and RSU Haji Makassar 2020-2022 was 50% (n = 75). The results of statistical analysis were mother's age OR 0.389 (95% CI = 0.174-0.870), Parity OR 0.469 (95% CI = 0.244-0.901), Education OR 3.083 (95% CI = 1.536-6.190), Occupation OR 1.158 ( CI 95% = 0.547-2.451), The results of bivariate analysis, namely maternal education OR 3.083 (95% CI = 1.536-6.190) is a risk factor for the occurrence of hyperemesis gravidarum. Conclusion: Maternal education is a risk factor for hyperemesis gravidarum with an OR value of 3.083 > 1 and a p-value = 0.002 <0.05.

Abstract

Hypertension during pregnancy is a serious condition that may lead to complications for both the mother and fetus. This condition is associated with various risk factors, including physical inactivity and psychological stress. This study aims to determine the relationship between physical activity and stress levels with blood pressure of pregnant women. This quantitative study with a cross-sectional design involved 143 pregnant women, who were surveyed using the Pregnancy Physical Activity Questionnaire (PPAQ) to assess physical activity and the Pregnancy Stress Rating Scale (PSRS) to assess stress levels. The research finding showed that the majority of pregnant women engaged in heavy physical activity (69.2%) had mild stress levels (74.1%). Spearman's rho test results indicated a significant relationship between physical activity (p<0.05) and stress (p<0.05) with blood pressure of pregnant women, with correlation strengths of R=0.524 and R=-0.353, respectively. There is a relationship between physical activity and stress of pregnant women with their blood pressure
