Abstract

This study aims to analyze the kirprah of the Sekar Rukun Association during the National Movement (1919-1931) which includes the formation, form of struggle, and the process of merging with the Young Indonesia organization. The research method used is the historical method which consists of heuristic, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography stages. Through this research, it can be seen that, first, the Sekar Rukun Association was formed by Sundanese figures who attended school in Batavia, such as Doni Ismail, Iki Adiwidjaja, Djuwariah, Hilman, Moh. Sapii, Mangkudiguna, Soetisna Sendjaja and Iwa Kusumasumantri before finally Dr. Husein Djajadiningrat was involved in the Sekar Rukun Association. Second, the form of struggle for the Sekar Rukun Association is by working with youth organizations similar to that during the National Movement such as Jong Java, Jong Ambon, Jong Sumatranen Bond, Jong Islamieten Bond, Jong Celebes, Jong Bataks and so on. One form of the struggle of the Sekar Rukun Association together with other youth organizations was to hold Youth Congresses I and II in 1926 and 1928. The 2nd Youth Congress in 1928 was known as the Youth Pledge event. Third, as a form of unity and integrity, the Sekar Rukun Association merged with the other youth organizations mentioned above to form an organization called Young Indonesia in 1931.

Abstract

This article analyzes the intellectual genealogy of Hoesein Djajadiningrat from the perspective of postcolonial theory. This framework has significantly influenced scholarly discussions regarding Islamic politics and jurisprudence in colonial Indonesia. It responds to three main inquiries: First, how did Hoesein interact with Islamic political philosophy? Second, how did he determine the fundamentals of Islamic law? Third, how precisely did he reframe Persian theories of Islamization? Using historical methods like historiography, source criticism, interpretive analysis, and heuristic inquiry, this study analyzes Hoesein's published works and correspondence to provide the first comprehensive analysis of his intellectual growth. This study reveals a portrait of a thinker whose intellectual stance defies simple categorization. Hoesein actively challenged Western ways of thinking while promoting Islamic views deeply influenced by Persian Sufi ideas, local customs, and colonial laws. His works demonstrate both a conformity to and a defiance of the prevailing Orientalist frameworks. Rather than viewing Hoesein as merely a colonial mediator or nationalist critic, this study portrays him as a perceptive interpreter who skillfully navigated the overlapping influences of imperial power and local cultural expressions. His scholarly contributions are crucial to understanding the dynamics of the production of Islamic knowledge in the Dutch East Indies, particularly the conflicts and intersections between regional epistemic traditions and global Islamic thought.

Abstract

The Gemini AI-Based Historiography Training was designed as an effort to transform history teaching methods among high school history teachers within the MGMP (Subject Teacher Working Group) in Surabaya. This study employed a qualitative approach with a participatory action research design, involving 25 teachers as training participants. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and product assessments, then analyzed thematically and using descriptive quantitative methods. The results showed a significant increase in participants’ understanding of digital historiography concepts (100%), ability to explain the functions of Gemini AI (100%), and interest in attending further training (92%). Participants produced digital learning modules, historiographical narratives, and interactive presentation materials ready for classroom use. In the future, further mentoring and the development of practitioner communities are needed to ensure the sustainability of the program.
