Abstract

This research explores the application and potential of batik business actors in the implications of the circular economy (CE) model in Pekalongan, Indonesia. As a prominent cultural heritage, the batik industry is essential to the regional economy. However, conventional linear production and consumption practices have resulted in environmental challenges, resource depletion, and waste generation. By embracing CE principles that emphasize resource efficiency, waste reduction, and closed-loop systems, the batik industry in Pekalongan can develop sustainable and environmentally responsible practices. This study examines critical aspects of CE implementation, starting with community participation in the batik, drawing insights from successful CE implementation in other industries. The implementation of CE in other industries is the role of business actors in the business chain outside Kampong. This paper analyzes the potential benefits and challenges of implementing CE in the Pekalongan batik industry and the role of stakeholders in promoting circularity. By highlighting the feasibility of the CE model, the results of this research are that the level of community participation in implementing a CE has not been maximized with the potential remaining production output so that this aspect of the condition becomes a sustainable opportunity to encourage sustainable practices in the Pekalongan batik industry.

Abstract

The mobility of urban populations towards potential sectors is one form of economic activity turnover. However, this condition is currently disrupted due to Covid-19. This condition occurs almost all over the world, not least Indonesia. To suppress the rapid spread of the outbreak, several policies were issued in order to reduce the mobility of the high population. This article aims to find out the influence of the implementation of PPKM Phase II policy on Population Mobility in the retail and leisure sectors. This article uses a library study approach by processing google mobility report data, so that the correlation to variables tested is known. PPKM Central Java Phase II policy can affect the mobility of the population towards the retail and leisure sectors. The existence of this policy, indirectly limits the space of community activities in making movements.

Abstract

Pekalongan Regency is an area with flat to steep topographic characteristics which makes this area prone to disasters ranging from floods, landslides, droughts, and tornadoes. This disaster vulnerability has an impact on the use of existing space, one of which is tourist areas. However, spatial planning for tourist areas in Pekalongan Regency does not appear to be fully regulated in the Regional Spatial Plan, even though most of the existing tourist areas are located in landslide-prone areas. This study will evaluate the role of RTRW in creating a landslide resilient tourist area in Petungkriyono District using the process of public policy implementation analysis method. The first stage is to analyze the level of landslide vulnerability using scoring and weighting techniques and then carry out an overlay analysis of the variables. used. The second stage is an evaluation analysis of the role of the RTRW carried out by looking at 3 (three) aspects including evaluation of the synchronization of Disaster Management (Landslide) Policies, evaluation of the Implementation of Zoning Arrangements and evaluation of Program Implementation in the Pekalongan Regency RTRW. Results The level of landslide vulnerability in tourist areas in Petungkriyono District ranges from high to very high. The Pekalongan Regency RTRW itself is a policy that focuses on spatial planning, so the evaluation in this case is the disaster management policy in the spatial RTRW. The results of the study state that the role of RTRW reached 86% (eighty six percent), which means that RTRW has played a very important role in creating a disaster-resilient tourist area in Petungkriyono District.

Abstract

ENGLISHWatersheds are unified landscapes vulnerable to hazards like floods, often exacerbated by factors such as land-use changes and reactive disaster management. This study analyzes land cover changes and their spatial relationship to flood-prone areas using an Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) approach. It integrates remote sensing with participatory methods to enhance disaster risk reduction. The research adopted a mixed-methods design, combining spatial analysis of Landsat 8 imagery (2000–2023) with qualitative data from focus group discussions (FGDs), participatory mapping, and interviews involving local communities and government stakeholders. Key variables analyzed included land cover types, spatial extent of change, proximity to rivers, elevation, and delineated flood hazard zones. The study focused on the Silugonggo River Basin in Pati Regency, Indonesia, a high-risk flood area. Results reveal a significant increase in built-up areas (to 17.18%) and a reduction in vegetation cover (forest area decreased to 7.57%), particularly in the midstream, contributing to increased runoff and flood risk. Community engagement was crucial in identifying localized flood causes and proposing adaptive strategies such as reforestation, riparian buffer zones, and improved drainage. These findings emphasize the importance of integrating EbA and community participation into disaster risk reduction planning.
