Abstract

Period of work can influence a person's actions, in other words, tenure can influence knowledge. In this study, employees who have worked for a long time understand fire emergency response preparedness more quickly than new employees, which can be dangerous for workers if they know about fire emergency response actions. Good. The aim of this research is to find the relationship between work experience, knowledge and the availability of advice in the PT shop 1 area. X Batam City 2024. This research uses quantitative methods with a total population of 38 respondents. The sampling technique uses total sampling where the number of samples is the same as the total sampling. Statistical analysis uses the chi-square test with research instruments using questionnaires and observation sheets. The research results show a relationship between length of service and emergency response preparedness with a P value = 0.046, there is a relationship between knowledge and emergency response preparedness with a P value = 0.024, there is a relationship between the availability of facilities and emergency response preparedness with a P value = 0.002. expected from PT. X to conduct weekly or monthly inspections in order to ensure that each APAR functions well, providing an emergency response training at least every 6 months so that new employees understand the procedure of fire emergency response.

Abstract

In the era of globalization, industrial and business activities significantly contribute to environmental impacts, making systematic environmental management crucial. This study analyzes the implementation of an Environmental Management System (EMS) at PT “X” based on ISO 14001:2015, evaluates its performance, and identifies its impact on environmental sustainability. A qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis. Informants consisted of five representatives from key functional areas, including top management, accounting, HSES (Health, Safety, Environment & Security), and Quality Assurance as the internal auditor. The interview guidelines were designed according to ISO 14001:2015 clauses to ensure comprehensive coverage. The findings indicate strong top management commitment in supporting EMS implementation through policies that encompass planning, execution, and monitoring. The organizational structure effectively facilitates the environmental management cycle, including identifying, addressing, and resolving findings categorized as major non-conformities, minor non-conformities, and opportunities for improvement. These serve as the basis for performance evaluation and continuous improvement. In conclusion, PT “X” has effectively implemented EMS in line with ISO 14001:2015 and complies with Indonesia’s Law No. 32/2009 on Environmental Protection and Management. The company demonstrates environmental responsibility, and continuous improvement is recommended to strengthen sustainability and stakeholder trust.

Abstract

Respiratory complaints are a health problem that can be experienced by construction workers, especially welding workers, primarily due to exposure to Carbon Monoxide gas. This study aims to analyze the relationship between carbon monoxide (CO) gas exposure and respiratory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage behavior with respiratory complaints among welding workers. This research is an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design conducted at PT. X in Batam City, Riau Islands from February to July 2024. The entire population of 35 welding workers was taken as a sample through the total sampling method. Based on the research results, the chi-square statistical test shows a p-value of 0.030 < α = 0.05 for the relationship between CO gas exposure and respiratory complaints, so Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. This means that there is a significant relationship between exposure to carbon monoxide (CO) gas and respiratory complaints in workers. Furthermore, the chi-square statistical test for the relationship between PPE usage behavior and respiratory complaints resulted in a p-value of 0.046 < α = 0.05, so Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means there is a significant relationship. The results of this study show that 74% of workers were exposed to CO gas above the threshold limit value (25 ppm), 60% used respiratory PPE, and 63% experienced respiratory complaints. Suggestions for the company include evaluating working hours, periodic health monitoring, improving ventilation, optimizing PPE usage, and further research on lung function disorders using spirometry.

Abstract

Background: Indonesia is a country with a high level of disaster potential. Disasters can occur due to natural, non-natural, or human-caused factors. Fires are categorized as a non-natural disaster based on their cause. One public facility that also needs to address this situation is the community health center. The community health center must be prepared for fire disasters because they accommodate patients, families, visitors, and the the community health center' own human resources. Purpose: To develop a fire management strategy in the community health center. Method: This sequential, mixed-methods exploratory study began with qualitative data collection and continued with quantitative data collection. The study was conducted in 20 Community Health Center in Batam City, Riau Islands, in 2025. The stages included analysis of fire prevention and control, communication and coordination aspects, development of a management model, and quantitative evaluation of the model. Results: Based on observations, most fire prevention facilities and systems are still not optimally available. Regarding fire protection system guidelines, all the community health center lack clear guidelines. Similar conditions were also found for hydrants, sprinklers, water pumps, and emergency power sources, all of which were not available at all observed locations. Meanwhile, only a small number of community health centers have fire alarms, smoke detectors, and internal communication systems. However, all community health center have portable fire extinguishers and evacuation routes, demonstrating basic emergency response measures. However, without the support of other fire protection systems, these measures are insufficient to ensure overall safety. Conclusion: Fire preparedness remains relatively low, constrained by incomplete and unintegrated fire protection systems. This highlights the need for cross-sector collaboration, resulting in comprehensive strengthening of facilities, systems, and cooperation to ensure safety.   Keywords; Community Health Center; Fire Management; Portable Fire Extinguishers.   Pendahuluan: Indonesia merupakan negara dengan tingkat potensi bencana yang tinggi. Bencana dapat terjadi karena faktor  alam, non alam maupun ulah manusia. Kebakaran berdasarkan penyebabnya dikategorikan dalam bencana non alam. Salah satu fasilitas umum yang juga perlu memperhatikan kondisi ini adalah puskesmas. Puskesmas harus siap dalam menghadapi bencana kebakaran karena di dalamnya terdapat pasien, keluarga pasien, pengunjung, dan SDM di puskesmas itu sendiri. Tujuan: Untuk mengembangkan strategi manajemen penanggulangan kebakaran di puskesmas. Metode: Penelitian mixed-method sequential exploratory, yaitu diawali dengan pengumpulan data kualitatif, dilanjutkan kuantitatif. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Puskesmas Kota Batam, Kepulauan Riau pada tahun 2025 terhadap 20 Puskesmas. Tahapannya meliputi analisis pencegahan dan pengendalian kebakaran serta aspek komunikasi dan koordinasi, pengembangan model manajemen, dan evaluasi model secara kuantitatif. Hasil: Berdasarkan observasi, sebagian besar fasilitas dan sistem penanggulangan kebakaran masih belum tersedia secara optimal. Pada aspek pedoman sistem proteksi kebakaran, seluruh puskesmas belum memiliki pedoman yang jelas. Kondisi yang sama juga ditemukan pada hidran, sprinkler, pompa kebakaran, dan sumber daya listrik darurat, seluruhnya tidak tersedia di semua lokasi yang diamati. Sementara itu, alarm kebakaran, smoke detector, dan sistem komunikasi internal hanya sebagian kecil puskesmas yang telah memiliki. Di sisi lain, seluruh puskesmas sudah memiliki alat pemadam api ringan (APAR) dan sarana jalan keluar (evakuasi), menunjukkan adanya upaya dasar dalam penanganan keadaan darurat. Namun, tanpa didukung sistem proteksi kebakaran lainnya, upaya tersebut belum cukup untuk menjamin keselamatan secara menyeluruh. Simpulan: Kesiapsiagaan penanggulangan kebakaran masih tergolong rendah dengan keterbatasan pada sistem proteksi kebakaran yang belum lengkap dan belum terintegrasi. Hal ini menunjukkan, perlu adanya kolaborasi lintas sektor, sehingga adanya penguatan menyeluruh pada fasilitas, sistem, dan kerja sama untuk menjamin keselamatan.   Kata Kunci: Alat Pemadam Api Ringan (APAR); Manajemen Penanggulangan Kebakaran; Puskesmas.
